Churn Dashes (Each Layer Cake will make 1 churn dash.You only need to cut 25 Layer Cakes)From EACH of 25 Layer Cakes cut 1–4" x 10" strip (see below) From the strip, cut 2–4" squares; cut in half on the diagonal to make 4–half-square triangles (HST) 2–2" x 10" strips

Background 1–61/2" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 12–61/2" x 31/2" rectangles 2–4" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 14–4" squares; cut in half on the diagonal to make 28 half-square triangles (HST) 4–31/2" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 37–31/2" squares 13–2" x width of fabric strips From the strips, cut 50–2" x 10" strips

Binding 5–21/2" x width of fabric strips Sew the strips end-to-end to make the binding.

1 Churn Dash To make one block: Select a set of 2 matching 4" HSTs and 2–2" x 10" strips.

Quilt is 45" x 45".

(A) Join 1–2" x 10 churn dash and 1–2" x 10 background strips as shown. Make 2 strip sets. From the strip sets cut 4–31/2" wide units.

(B) For one block you will have 4 HSTs, and 4 matching units. Keep together.

(C) Make churn dash sets using the previous unit and 1–31/2" background square. Join the center only. Make 25 sets.

2 There is a coloring sheet, on page 3. you can use to decide on print placement or use your design wall. As you layout the quilt, sew the half-square triangles together first; trim the half-triangle squares to 31/2" x 31/2".

3 Sew the quilt together in rows as shown. Press the seams open. Join the rows. Layer, quilt and bind.
