1. Tempus : to establish an area of cooperation and modernisation in higher education between the European Union and the partner countries of the Western Balkans, the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe and Central Asia(published end January 2009 – deadline 28/4/2009 – application form is being worked on (end of Febr 2009))

2. Erasmus Mundus : to promote European higher education worldwide through the development of integrated master courses and the provision of scholarships

- Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (New initiative launched in 2006 to support the

partnerships between EU and 3rd country HEI in specific regions as basis for structural cooperation and mobility at all levels of higher education (3rd call published December 2008 – deadline 13/3/2009)

3. Cooperation with industrialised countries : to enhance the quality of higher education and training in the EU by promoting university partnerships and two-way mobility of students and faculty with the most advanced countries

- EU/US – Atlantis programme (call published end 2008 – deadline 23/3/2009)

- EU/CAN (call published 13/1/2009 – deadline 1/4/2009)

- ICI call (New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea) (call foreseen to be published April 2009 – deadline foreseen June 2009; so far no participation of New Zealand and Japan needs to be confirmed)
