First Quarter Lesson 1: Pulse in Music Week 1 Introduction Activity I Sing “Leron, Leron Sinta” and move to the rhythm of the song. In music, the duration of sound and silence is important. Duration refers to how long and how short tones and silence last. These tones and silence follow a certain beat. Beat can be felt with or without sound. We clap, walk, tap, march, dance, and play musical instruments to show the rhythm and beat of music. Remember: The symbol ( ) shows the pulse of the sound.
