I would say to just be more specific about the kind of information that was going to be observable ... both the parts of plants and what plants needed for growth. Your assessment was appropriate for the students and for the lesson content as it related directly to the objectives. Adapting the KWL chart to suit your purposes for the lesson indicates the depth of your thinking during the planning process. You set up your inquiry lesson by getting the students ready to think of themselves as scientists, which helped them to look at their work more seriously.
