    DIALOGUE - Hailing a Cab

    Mikhail: Taxi! Taxi!

Taxi Driver: You need a cab?

    Mikhail: Yes.

Taxi Driver: Do you just have the one suitcase?

    Mikhail: No, I have two.

Taxi Driver: There is an additional charge for the extra luggage. Ill load this. Hop in.

[Taxi Driver loads the trunk. Mikhail gets in the back seat.]

    Taxi Driver: Where to?

Mikhail: Los Angeles International Airport, please.

Taxi Driver: I dont have a flat rate to the airport. I use the meter, OK?

Mikhail: Okay. What is the rate?

Taxi Driver: There is a $2.20 initial charge and then 20 cents for every one-tenth of a mile after that.

Mikhail: Do you have an approximation on cost to the airport?

Taxi Driver: Well, at this time of day, there isnt much traffic so I can take the shortest distance. Itll probably be $34 or $35 dollars.

Mikhail. I have a flight in three hours. How long will it take to get there?

Taxi Driver: Taking the freeway and banking on light traffic. Id say about an hour.

Mikhail: Thatll get me there in plenty of time.

    [After arrival.]

    Taxi Driver: What airline?

    Mikhail: Worldwide Airways.

Taxi Driver: Thats Terminal B which is right here.

Mikhail: How much do I owe you?

    Taxi Driver: $33.00.

Mikhail: I have $35 here. Keep the change.

Taxi Driver: Thanks. Have a great day.
