About School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC)

The school of Mechanical Engineering is among the founding schools of VIT-AP University,

Amaravati. We offered a strong undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering with

state of art lab facilities. The curriculum of Mechanical Engineering is designed keeping in

view of the industry requirements in India and overseas. Our curriculum emphasized

Engineering Science based education for the development of technologies. The primary

focus of the curriculum is imparting industrial problem identification skill and promotes

problem-solving skill. The students are encouraged to be a part of various clubs for the

overall development of personality. Our labs have state of the art facilities to carry projects

for the development of technologies. So far, we have developed labs related to materials,

manufacturing, thermal-fluid science and design engineering. We are arranging the invited

lectures for the benefit of students with experts from India and overseas. The students are

also encouraged to engage in projects with faculty members for higher studies in leading

Universities in USA, Europe, and Asia. We have a faculty team with expertise in thermal,

design, manufacturing and materials engineering with Ph.D. from IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT

Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT BHU Varanasi. All the faculty members are involved

in research and development activities.
