Orange Street ImprovementsSidewalks along Orange Street are being widened

and a covered sightseeing vehicle stop installed alongwhat’s termed “the main pedestrian connection”between the Visitor Center, St. George Street and theCastillo.

Funding is coming from $1.4 million secured byCongressman John Micafor pedestrian enhance-ments along the bayfront.A more ambitious PaulS. Sarbanes Transit inParks program, in theplanning stage, couldinclude a brick pedestri-an and sightseeing vehi-cle lane replacing theeastbound traffic lane, a brick pedestrian crossing tothe Castillo with signals, and completion of the Cuboline from the City Gate to the Santo Domingo redoubtat Cordova Street.

Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?

Homework Beth Vorhees of public TV fame said her daughter,

Diana, a third-grader, was to give a demonstrationspeech at school. She planned to demonstrate how tomake “Flies on a Log,” which consists of peanut butterspread on a stalk of celery with raisins on it.

The morning of her speech, Diana took out every-thing she needed and put it on the kitchen counter, ready to take it to school. Unfortunately, when the girland her mother left for school, they forgot to take theitems.

Diana’s mother dropped her off and went home toget the stuff.

The celery was gone. The raisins were gone. Thepeanut butter had been put away.

“Oh,” said Diana’s father. “I had that stuff forbreakfast.”

Beth rushed to gather up more ingredients andhurry them to school, with an apology to the teacherand an explanation of what happened.

“Gee,” said Diana’s teacher, “that’s a first -- ‘Mydad ate my homework.’”

At the Zoo A father and his small son were standing in front of

the tiger’s cage at the zoo. The father was explaininghow ferocious and strong tigers are, and junior wastaking it all in with a serious expression.

Dad,” the boy said finally, “if the tiger got out ofhis cage and ate you up ...”

“Yes, son?” the father said expectantly. “What bus should I take home?” the boy finished.

I took an IQ test and the results were negative.
