This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of their respective stud books. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, Ponies (UK), The Showing Register or BSPS. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant Breed Societies. Riders of stallions must have obtained their 12th Birthday (small breeds) or 14th birthday (large breeds) before 1st January in the current year. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. For full policy details please visit www.grandstandentries.com. Marks will be awarded in the following way: Show, freedom of action - 50 maximum Breed type and conformation - 50 maximum In the case of equality, the pony with the highest show, freedom of action mark will be deemed the winner. If there is still equality at this point, then the judges’ decision will be final. This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 2nd - 6th October 2019. Qualification will not pass below 3rd Place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Classes 15-17 are open to all breeds

Class 15 The Novices Single or pair horse (s) or pony (s) 4 years or over driven to any vehicle. The horse or pony OR The Whip must not have been placed first in ANY type of driving competition before April 1st 2019, so either the person or the animal MUST be NOVICE. Each turnout will be asked to perform a simple show to demonstrate basic driving skills, including traditional signals, rein handling and the whip will be asked to drive a short set test. Class 16 Exercise Vehicle Open to horses & ponies, 4 years old or over. A single, pair or tandem driven to a carriage of non-traditional type design and includes those with pneumatic tyres specifically designed for carriages (i.e. not car tyres). Lamps need not be carried. Judging will include general cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness and vehicle suitability. This class may be split into two wheel & four wheel exercise vehicles. Class 17 Private Driving Horse or pony, 4 years old or over, driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyred vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. Class 18 Registered Welsh Ponies, Cobs & Part-Breds 4 yrs. or over driven to a show wagon. Grooms are not required to ride in the vehicle. All Whips and Grooms under 14 years old must wear a hard hat to the correct specification & be accompanied by an adult in all classe

NWPCS DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP Selected from 1st & 2nd prize winners and the highest placed registered Welsh in classes 15

-17 The highest place registered Welsh to go forward to the Supreme Championship.

OSBORNE REFRIGERATORS BDS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

at British Driving Society National Championships on 21st September 2019. The highest placed turn-out owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type-Section/s disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2019 Semi-Finals at British Driving Society National Championships. The championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals. e – country turnout – single, pair or tandem f – single purebred Registered Welsh Cob – Section D h – single purebred Registered Welsh Ponies – Sections A, B & C i – pairs & tandems – open – any height m – single, pair, or tandem turnout driven to a four wheel exercise vehicle

and

Victoria Foods Open Private Driving Championship Qualifier The champion will qualify for the grand final to be held 15th September 2019 at Wellington Riding, Heckfield, Hook, Hampshire. In the event that the champion has already qualified then the reserve champion is to qualify. If the reserve has also qualified, the rosette is to be awarded back to the champion. Once qualified, the horse, whip and vehicle may not be changed.

The Champion and Reserve from each section: Picton Championship Peasedown Championship Horse of the Year Show Championship The Northleach Ridden Champion is awarded the NPS/Standing Hat Stud & Show Team M&M Ridden Silver Medal Rosette & the Welsh Pony & Cob Society Ridden Performance Medal.

The Supreme Champion & Reserve Champion receive £150 & £75 prize money, respectively. Please Note Confirmation of your entry is sent to your email address, please include an SAE if you would like us to send confirmation of your entry by post. Competitor numbers are collected from the secretary on the show day. The show is held on private property please do not muck out horseboxes or leave any litter on the showground. There is a large area available for exercising and preparation, this does not include the Polo Ground. The Polo Ground must not be accessed by anyone at any-time.

NPS M&M Ridden Silver Medal Rosette Championship NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships, Breed Show Rules: These are judged under the Rules of the NPS. At breed shows Silver Medals may be won by non-members. The owner of the qualified pony must become an Adult Qualifying or Life member to enter the final. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships.

SHOW REGULATIONS

• Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury or damage done to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal (including the spread of any infection or contagious disease) or article exhibited or introduced to the Showground by him or her and shall indemnify the Show Committee against all actions, proceedings, liabilities, claims, damages and expenses in relation to or arising out of his or her entry or entries in the Show.

• The Show Committee in its absolute discretion may, without assigning any reason, refuse an entry or cancel any entry already accepted or may decline to admit to the Showground any animal or exhibitor or person or withhold any prize. Whenever, under this regulation any entry is refused or cancelled, or any exhibit, exhibitor or person is refused admission or is removed, the fees paid for such entry may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be refunded and if refunded, shall be accepted by the exhibitor or intending exhibitor in full satisfaction of all claims against the Show Committee.

• The Show Committee shall have the power to suspend or remove from the Showground, at the expense and risk of the person responsible, their stock or property, or anyone who shall infringe any of the Regulations of the Show or the Welsh Pony & Cob Society or who shall refuse to comply with any instructions given by the Stewards, or whose conduct shall in the opinion of the Show Committee be derogatory to the character or prejudicial to the interests of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society or its members, or who in the opinion of the Show Committee have been guilty of any act or omission involving cruelty or unnecessary suffering to, or neglect of any animal, and all forfeits, fees and charges shall be due by the person responsible before any removal from the Showground takes place.

• The Show Committee reserves to itself the sole and overriding power to interpret these and any other prescribed Rules and Regulations or the terms of any Show Schedule and to settle and determine all matters, question or disputes in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with or incidental to the Show.

• The Welsh Pony & Cob Society’s Showing Rules shall apply, subject to precedence being taken by any of the Show’s own regulations and in the case of the NPS qualifying rounds to the rules of the National Pony Show.

• Any exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest having reference to any person or exhibit shall do so in writing to the secretary and shall at the same time deposit the sum of £25. If, on investigation by the Show Committee, the protest is not sustained, the deposit may be forfeited to the funds of the Show. All protests shall be delivered within one hour of the incident. Any exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest relating to the height of an exhibit will be referred by the Show Committee to the Joint Measurement Board.

• The Show Committee reserves the right to change judges, if necessary, after the publication of the Show Schedule.

• Any mare or filly that has produced a foal in the current year must be accompanied by that foal in the show ring.

• Exhibitors should not enter an animal when that animal will be judged by a person who is the breeder or who has or has had a financial interest in the animal.

• All entries to Welsh Breed & Part-Bred Classes must be registered (or eligible for registration in the case of foals) with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society.

• No manes or tails may be plaited in any class except for Part-Breds where it is optional.

• A fall of pony or rider in any class will result in disqualification. The rider must not remount in the ring.

• Exhibitors shall be responsible for the behaviour of their assistants or riders and for the consequences of any conduct of all persons in charge of exhibits shall be subject to the orders of the Stewards.

• Exhibitors must not wear clothes bearing the name of their stud while in the show ring. • Animals should not be left unattended when tied to the side of trailers or lorries. • First and Second Prize-winners are eligible to compete for their respective Championships. • The award of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Medals is governed by the conditions of the Welsh

Pony and Cob Society regulations. • Advance Entry Fees

o Foals £10 o Classes 31-34 £32 Inc. Horse of the Year Show contribution o All other classes £15

• Entry fees cannot be refunded once an entry has been accepted. • Entries may not be substituted after the closing date i.e. 11th June. • Cash only Entries taken on show day 7.30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

o Driving & Ridden Classes £20 o HOYS Classes £50

• Prize Money for Classes 31-34 only : 1st - £35 2nd - £25 3rd - £15 4th - £10 • Prize money will be forfeited if it is not collected on the day of the show. • Ringside car parking £5.00 per car. • There will be no admittance to the Showground before 7 a.m. on the day of the Show and the

Showground will be closed one hour after the completion of the judging. • All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times whilst on the Showground. • Please note that classes will not be held up under any circumstances. It is the exhibitors’

responsibility to decide which class to miss if there is a potential clash.

NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 6-8th August 2019 The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualifica-tion may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see defi-nition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These po-nies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Champion-ship Show. The Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the quali-fication will be forfeit.
