"AN ORDER CONSTITUTING THE JOINT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE76th ARAW NG DABAW CELEBRATION AND 2013 DAVAO SUMMER FESTIVAL

(SUMMERFEST) AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"

WHEREAS, the City of Davao will be celebrating its 76th Charter Anniversary on the16th of March 2013 through the staging of various events and activities commencing on the25th day of February;

WHEREAS, two (2) months after the Araw ng Dabaw, the city shall be staging itsannual Davao Summer Festival or Summerfest which aims to position Davao City as apreferred summer destination through various sports activities and competitions, artworkshops, and other cultural events;

WHEREAS, in order to help ensure the success of the 76th Araw ng Dabaw and the2013 Davao Summerfest, there is a need to involve the private sector in staging some of theevents to augment the limited resources of the public sector;

WHEREAS, in order for the City Government of Davao to maximize the objectives ofboth the 76th Araw ng Dabaw and the 2013 Davao Summerfest, and to ensure the smoothimplementation of the various core activities identified for this year's celebration, there is alsoa need to constitute, organize, and create Joint Executive Committee to simultaneouslyundertake preparatory activities for both major festivals, defining its functions, roles andresponsibilities, as well as the different activities that will be implemented and monitored bythe same;

NOW THEREFORE, I, SARA Z. DUTERTE, Mayor of the City of Davao, by virtue ofthe powers vested in me by law, do hereby order the following:

SECTION 1. COMPOSITION. Hereby created is the Joint Executive Committee for the 76thAraw ng Dabaw and 2013 Davao Summerfest to be composed of the following members:

SECTION 2. FUNCTIONS. The Executive Committee shall perform the following functions:

1. Plan and ensure the smooth coordination of all the identified core activities inconnection with the 76th Araw ng Dabaw and the 2013 Davao Summerfest;

2. Encourage other private establishments to also stage their respective events tomake the celebration of both festivals more significant and festive;

3. Generate a list of official and accredited events for both 76th Araw ng Dabaw andthe 2013 Davao Summerfest, to include those spearheaded independently by privatesector organizers;

4. Find ways and means to support the successful implementation of the variousprograms, events and activities during the celebration;

5. Promote the festivals both locally and internationally through various media outletsto ensure the optimal participation of visitors and tourists; and,

6. Perform such other acts which are necessary to effectively and meaningfully carryout the mandated functions of the committee.

SECTION 3. TECHNICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT. All departments and officesof the City Government of Davao are enjoined to provide necessary and technicaladministrative support to the Joint Executive Committee and coordinate the successfulimplementation of all its policies and directives.

SECTION 4. FUNDING. Funding for the activities in connection with the celebration of the76th Araw ng Dabaw and the 2013 Davao Summerfest shall in part be sourced from the budgetto be provided by the City Government of Davao for such purpose.

SECTION 5. EFFECTIVITY. This order shall take effect immediately.
