Typography and Information• White font leads into blood spreading along the inside of the words highlights a

wound or someone being severely hurt inside them. This links in with the context of disease.

• The kerning spaces were close together. There wasn’t overlapping in the letters showing the font is quite bold and simple. This is in contrast with the images of the monkey’s being tested on.

• The typed font is quite bold and out there. As if it was literal, ‘28 days later’.• The lettering has a basic straight baseline which conveys there isn't any distortion

within the titles. • ‘28 days later’ – interference/old film reel like, which shows the interference of the

whole world coming to and end or something drastic/horrific is going to happen. • In the order of importance; Fox Search Light pictures (company), DNA films

associated, name of film, main actors, producer, music and director. • This is presented in a typed font which doesn’t show any disfiguring unlike

handwritten titles might have.

Editing The non continuity editing showing the different destructive scene highlights the mass

destruction that has happened and highlights how he is on his own.

The quick jump cuts highlights the sense of time running out and the need for him to find out what has happened if he wishes to survive.

Mise-en-scene The effect of having lots of small tv screens in front of the monkey that is wired up highlights how the

monkey is almost all seeing and the fact the cables are linked to his head it suggests a strategy is going through his mind and that the humans have aided the monkey unknowingly.

The fact that he is dressed in a doctors scrubs suggests that he might have had something to do with the escape of the monkey's however his confusion contradicts this.

The fact that there is a camera watching the monkeys, leaves the audience questioning how they escaped. However only one camera is watching the monkeys compared to the many a camera that the monkey had, suggesting how the monkey was always in control.

The bare scenes/settings suggest that there is no hope of him surviving, this creates a sense of panic. The fogy dusty scenes suggests that what has happened and what will happen is unclear however the

sunlight peeping over the building creates a sense of hope for survival.

An Establishing Shot is used to show the atmosphere of the city before 28 days later, highlighting here how there has been destruction and rampage.

Sound• The title sequence initially starts with eerie yet calm music and the ‘heaviness’ of the

music gradually builds as we see the effect of the virus growing stronger amongst the civilians.

• The transition from low key, calm music to loud portrays how unpredictable the virus is and gives a chaotic atmosphere to the title sequence.

• There is a similarity between the story line and the music as both the ‘drop’ in the music and the infection in the film come as a surprise.

• The diegetic sound of the authentic clips give it more of a realistic feel, making it more frightening for the audience and adding tension as it allows them to relate to those in the clips and leads them to believe it could happen.

• The sound of people frantically talking through the radios and the monkey banging on the glass outlines the chaos of the virus breakout, creating more of an effect on the audience.

• Towards the end of the title sequence the music reaches its climax and becomes very heavy then stops quite suddenly, symbolising that it wont get any better for them- there is no happy ending.
