27th June—Term 2 Week 9 2018
WALAWAANI NJINDIWAAN (Welcome everyone)
Girls basketball team goes down 46-21
Today was a tough day for our girls basketball team who played to the best of their ability
against an extremely talented Nowra Public School team in the fourth round of the state
knockout. The first quarter was a fast paced up and down game with points being scored
quickly on both ends. Sanctuary Point got off to a good start and shared the ball on offense
with Jasmin Grant showing a great touch around the basket. Nowra Public had a clear
height advantage which saw them grab most of the rebounds for not only the first quarter but
the whole game.
The halftime score saw our girls down by 9 points. During the third quarter the SPPS girls
showed great character and resilience and started to play a tight defense. Agnus Dann
came away with an abundance of steals allowing for her sister and teammate Priscilla to
make some fast break away baskets. Maddy Murton also came up with another steal and
was fouled on the shot, making her second free throw.
The last quarter was where Nowra began to shoot even better and making it very hard for
our team to score. The end result ended up being 46-21, but the score doesn’t do justice for
how tough the game was for both teams.
Mr Slater would like to congratulate the girls for making it to the fourth round of the State
Knockout and for showing great sportsmanship by playing fair with a great attitude. Also a
further thank you to parents who helped out with the transport and Georgina and Mrs Brown
for coaching, we greatly appreciate it.
We are all very proud of your efforts girls, well done!

PRINCIPAL REPORT
WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THIS WEEK
What an exciting time was had in 4 Djunnga this week, as their classroom was turned into a
spaceship and they all spent the day immersed in the world of space travel. The smiles and
pleasure the students had I’m sure went a long way to helping inspire lots of creativity when
it came to doing some creative writing. It was an experience that the students will remember
and talk about for years to come. Well done Mr Slater for being so imaginative and raiding
everyone’s black sheet collection to make it happen.
SCHOOL REPORTS
We are coming up to that very exciting time of the year when our half yearly reports are sent
home. This Friday your child will be given their report to bring home, I’m hoping that all
parents have been able to make a time with their child’s class teacher to have a 3-way
learning conversation, if you haven’t done so yet, this is a reminder to book in. I really en-
joyed getting to read everyone’s report and learn a little more about each of the wonderful
children we have in our school. We have many students in our school who are working very
hard and trying their best every day. Big congratulations to all our students who have
worked hard this semester.
OUTSTANDING STUDENTS
Any students who receive a 5 for effort or an A on their reports, will be receiving an
Outstanding award for all their hard work. This will be given to students at a special
assembly followed by a morning tea, that will be held early in term 3.
NAIDOC WEEK CELEBRATIONS
Next week is the last week of term 2 and the school will be holding our Naidoc week
celebrations. We will begin on Monday with a school assembly, Kindergarten and Year 1
assembly will be at 10.15am. A longer assembly will be held for the 2-6 students at
12.15pm. Parents are invited to attend and join in our celebration assembly. On Friday the
whole school will be involved in fun activities for the day and it will be a mufti day, students
are to wear the colours red, black, green, blue, white and yellow and what a great way to
finish off the school term.
