Sparkles, Shimmers, and GlitterIn the infamous words of interviewer Elsa Clintch from her fabulous back-

stage fashion show interviews for the Fashion Channel, the Gay AppreciationAwards were full of “SPARKLES, SHIMMERS, and Glitter”. I attended theawards ceremony which celebrates the LGBT Community and it efforts andaccomplishments throughout the year. I had a great time watching the awardsand all of the wonderful performances from the show club of the year nominees.My favorite part of the entire awards ceremony was watching the enclave ofqueens, performers, and transsexual divas coming through the door and whatthey were wearing.

one hell of a push for the ladies whocontinually do us proud. BAM BAM!

As always I have a question toraise.........................

(This question is a for the most partquestion, not a in general question)

Why in the hell are the performingqueens, transsexual divas, and dragqueens the only ones dressing as ifthey are the only ones going to some-thing important?....................

Aren’t the GAA something our com-munity should feel a little more prideabout. I mean come on guys. Is it tomuch to ask that you wear somethingnice. Pants and possibly a button upshirt? Possibly a blazer? I refuse tolisten to the excuse of weather beingthe issue and how hot it is. Would youwear a tee shirt and wrinkled shorts toa summer wedding? If your answer is“yes” please change the channel be-cause obviously you were raised by apack of wolves. If you have answered“no” there is hope for you. Thank GOD!

Fabric choice has a lot to do withwhat you wear during the hot humidsummers in New Orleans. Cotton,rayon, and linen all good choices. Ashort sleeve button up and a skinny tiewith a nice pair of denim would get thejob done. A linen suit even if the pantswere draw string and a nicely coloredtee under the jacket, with maybe a funprint to show your personality. Even apair of great shorts, short sleeve buttonup, and a casual blazer would work.Just a little something that shows thatyou put some effort into your look forthe awards ceremony of the year, anddidn't just walk to your closet or dresserand pull out the first thing you saw andsaid this will work. Please boys. I willbe the first to testify that “It didn’twork!”

Now on the other hand, once againthe diva performers, transsexuals, anddrag queens saved the day. Theystarted pouring in about one hour be-fore the event started. Yes people.They were wearing more sparkles,shimmers, and glitter than Tiffany’sduring the Christmas shopping season,and shall I say colors to boot. FromMarsha Delain in here bright red twopiece outfit, which if I can say so myselflooked amazing on her, to show hostTeryl-Lynn Foxx in her absolutely stun-

ning white one shoulder, full length,fishtailed, trained, rhinestoned, fabu-lous, lusciouly styled gown. Let's notforget Lisa Beaumann and her threethousand changes of gown and cos-tume. Bam to the BAM BAM! A majorityof the nominees for the New OrleansFashion Gala and Awards 2014 , MostStylish Performance Queen 2014award, were there dressed to the 9salso. Monica Synclaire-Kennedy,Monique Michaels, Chi-Chi Rodriquez,Dominique DeLorean, and PrincesseStephaney were all looking fabulous.Natasha Sinclair with her perfectlypainted face looked like a Hollywoodstar. Coca Mesa wearing CED Cloth-ing was working the room with hair thatwould have made Tami Tarmac ask“Who did that?” Oh and shall I dare notmention the next queen who normallyonly dresses for holidays, Shayla(Shane Scallan). This bitch came walk-ing in dressed as a classy diva fromBeverly Hills in wide legged pants, anda colorful top painted for the godssporting the gorgeous jewelry that sheherself makes. Oh lord I must say GiaGiaVanni in her acceptance cocktaildress fitting her as if it were hautecouture from Paris. One hell of a lus-cious bam bam she was.

So once again I have got to giveprops to the performance queens, trans-sexuals, and drag queens for teachingthe rest of New Orleans how it is doneand helping to keep us on the map forfashion. You all deserve an award andin time you will all be given the propsyou deserve for doing what you do andthe efforts you put into your lookshelping to keep this city in front of thefashion pack. I for one say THANKYOU!

So I give two thumbs up to the GAAGala 2014 and all of the fabulous per-formance queens, transsexuals, anddrag queens for putting the time andeffort that you do into the looks andproduct you put forth. Great job. I lookforward to this next year of fabulouslooks and next years awards.
