The Rheumatology Board Review and Clinical Update course has been offered since 1992, and is suited for 2019. This three-day course presents major clinical topics in the field of Rheumatology to assist physicians preparing for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Subspecialty Examination in Rheumatology, and the practicing clinician seeking to improve their care for rheumatology patients. Trainees preparing for their initial board exam — as well as rheumatologists who are candidates for ABIM recertification — are the target audience. The diagnosis and management of difficult and unusual clinical problems will be emphasized; an overview of important advances related to clinical rheumatology will also be included. Nineteen lectures by distinguished clinician-professors will be supplemented by a detailed syllabus to emphasize the issues frequently covered by qualifying examinations, as well as a review of clinical and therapeutic updates. This course is presented by the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine, and is sponsored by the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. OBJECTIVES An attendee completing this course will be able to: • Follow appropriate standards of care when treating adult and pediatric patients

with rheumatic diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupuserythematosus, other systemic autoimmune diseases,auto inflammatory diseases, seronegative arthritis,osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, crystalline arthritis, backpain, fibromyalgia, and soft tissue pain syndromes);

• Make more accurate diagnoses based on the bestavailable data and expert guidance;

• Monitor the efficacy and safety of rheumaticdisease treatments;

• Utilize newly approved treatments appropriately basedon the latest medical evidence.

ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The approved credits shown above include 8.25 Geriatric credits toward meeting the requirement under California Assembly Bill 1820, Geriatric Medicine. The approved credits shown above include 9.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM towards meeting the requirement under California Assembly Bill 487, Pain Management and Care of the Terminally Ill. This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency. AMERICAN BOARD OF INTERNAL MEDICINE MOCSuccessful completion of this CME, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 20.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
