Description Each year, the Maternal Child Nursing Symposium seeks to expand our knowledge in women’s, infant’s and children’s health care. The sympo- sium features national and local speakers presenting on current obstetric and pediatric topics. This year, we have nationally renowned speaker Suzanne Mc Murtry Baird, D.N.P., RN, who will address obstetrical emergencies, including maternal respiratory compromise, pulmonary and amniotic fluid embolism, the dreaded diagnosis of OB sepsis, and the ever present legal issues related to electronic fetal monitoring. Additional speakers include Dr. Robert Wittler, MD, pediatric infectious disease specialist, who will provide the latest on the Zika virus, Dr. Ralph Martello, MD, who will address ways to identify and treat the sick neonate, and Jack Bond, R.Ph, MHS, who will share about causes of prescrip- tion medication shortages and how that has caused ethical issues for our patients and their families. DescriptionEach year, the Maternal Child Nursing Symposium seeks to expand our knowledge in women’s, infant’s and children’s health care. The sympo-sium features national and local speakers presenting on current obstetric and pediatric topics. 27th Annual Maternal-Child Nursing SymposiumThe Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation has contracted with Wesley Medical

Center as an approved provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This symposium is approved for 8 contact hours applicable for RN and LPN relicensure. (Kansas Provider #LT0085-0327)

The Wesley Medical Center Respiratory Care Continuing Education Evaluator has approved this program for 7 contact hours of Respiratory Continuing Education on behalf of the Kansas Respiratory Care Society, a chapter society of the AARC. (Providership #KRCS 029)

The Wesley EMS provider has approved this program for 8 contact hours for MICTs and EMTs (Provider #3369).

Registration fee covers program costs, syllabus materials, breaks and lunch. A registration dis-count is provided for participants who register by Oct. 7.

The Maternal Child Nursing Symposium will be held in the Cessna Conference Center at Wes-ley Medical Center, 550 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS (located at Central and Hillside). Participants may park on the fourth floor and above of the Health Strategies parking garage (551 N. Hillside). There is an enclosed walkway from the fourth floor of the parking garage to the second floor of Wesley. Cessna Conference Center is on the first floor.
