Indian Society for Non Destructive Testing (ISNT) is a professional body of NDT practitioners, equipment suppliers, service providers, academicians and students and functions with the following objectives
National seminar on NDE is one of the most
important annual engineering events in India. The
conference provides an effective platform for NDE
professionals from all over the world to meet and
exchange ideas and information of interest to NDE
community, including specialists from industry,
research institutions and academia. The seminar
will attract eminent NDE experts from various
national and international industries / institutions.

participate in this seminar.
An international exhibition of NDE equipments and
systems is also arranged concurrently to provide an
exposure to latest developments in the field of NDE.
ISNT Thiruvananthapuram chapter is privileged to
host this prestigious event. The theme of the
seminar is 'Non-Destructive Evaluation -Enabling
Excellence'. Classic examples of Indian space,
defense and nuclear progarmme stand as a
testimony to the theme. Considering the range of
coverage and potential of business growth, the
proposed seminar is definitely going to establish a
new benchmark.
OBJECTIVES OF ISNT
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
ISNT has been organising national seminar & exhibition every year at different locations within India. I am
extremely happy that this year the NDE 2016 is being held at Thiruvananthapuram, a place known for India's
achievement of success in space. Thiruvananthapuram chapter of ISNT has taken the lead and challenge to
make this conference a great success.
In todays industrial world, NDT has changed it's position from cost centre to value addition for products and services. The improved
reliability, better accuracy in defect sizing and characterisation, higher productivity, automation, software & robotic applications have
changed the face of NDT and resulted into wide acceptance in all types of industries. Apart from quality control tool, it also helps in
residual life assessment of ageing plants and also in improving productivity in the manufacturing plants. In today’s competitive global
market, the importance of NDE has been greatly realised and it is used not only for quality assessment at the end of production cycle
but incorporated from the design stage to each stage of manufacturing as one of the process tools. Indian economy is growing
rapidly and NDT & E is not an exception. New NDT techniques such as digital radiography, Infrared Thermography, PAUT & TOFD,
Acoustic Emission are becoming more and more popular. All the core sectors of Indian economy have realised the importance of
NDE. The global trends in NDT are also predicted as quite promising. On this background, I am sure that all the industrial sectors will
look at this seminar in that perspective and participate in large numbers to draw the utmost benefit of latest developments in this creative and innovative NDT field.
My best wishes to organising committee of NDE-2016 seminar and also to Thiruvananthapuram chapter of ISNT. I am sure that this
seminar will bring glory to ISNT & the NDT profession.
D. J. VardePresident ISNT
CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
ISNT Thiruvananthapuram chapter is extremely happy and excited to host the national seminar and
international exhibition at Thiruvananthapuram after a long gap of 13 years. During this period of 13 years,
many astounding developments have taken place in the field of Non Destructive Testing. The competence of
NDT professionals has grown multifold in numbers as well as in capabilities with these new knowledge levels
and tools. ISNT, as a professional body, has also made a significant growth. The annual seminar and international exhibition have
become one of the most awaited international events for students, academicians, professionals and business community in this field.
ISNT Thiruvananthapuram chapter is one of the most dynamic chapters of the society with around 300 members. The venue chosen
for this mega event is “Al Saj Convention Centre”, Kerala’s largest convention centre, a recent addition to Thiruvananthapuram’s
growing infrastructure. NDE 2016 provides ample opportunities to the delegates and exhibitors in enhancing their technical
knowledge and business prospects equally. The theme of the conference, “NDE- Enabling Excellence” drives home the message of
achieving zero defect towards ensuring extreme reliability, cost saving and safe functioning of systems. I hope this conference will be
immensely beneficial to all concerned and we wholeheartedly welcome the global NDT fraternity to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital
of God’s Own Country, Kerala.
G. LevinChairman NDE 2016
th thNDE 2016 is being organised at Thiruvananthapuram during 15 -17 of December 2016. It is our endeavour
to make this seminar a delightful event to one and all. It brings back memories of NDE 2003, when our dear
members from all over India had gathered on the shores of the Arabian sea spreading the relevance and
applications of Non-destructive evaluation. This year too we promise to provide an environment for technical
discussion and learning that will linger long in the minds of participants. We hope to have a very fruitful exhibition that can show case
equipments of future in NDE.
I take this opportunity to welcome each one of the NDT fraternity to NDE 2016 in the lap of the nature, Thiruvanathapuram. Support of
all our members from all chapters is the stepping stone to the success of this seminar. I request all your sincere support and good will
for this great event. ‘Athithi Devao Bhava’ is our objective and we hope to fulfil it in a befitting manner.
Hoping to meet you all and having a memorable NDE 2016.

Thiruvananthapuram, also known as Trivandrum, the capital of God's Own country – Kerala, is a globally popular tourist
destination. Mahatma Gandhi has referred Trivandrum as “Evergreen city of India“. Located in the southwestern tip of India,
Thiruvananthapuram is bound by the Arabian Sea in the west and Tamil Nadu in the east. Named after Anantha Padmanabha
or Lord Vishnu, the city is home to many ancient temples, but the landmark is the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple around
which the city has been built on seven low hills. The wooded highlands of the Western Ghats in the eastern and northeastern
borders give Thiruvananthapuram some of the most enchanting picnic spots. A long shoreline with internationally renowned
beaches, historic monuments, backwater stretches and a rich cultural heritage make this district a much sought-after tourist
destination. Clean and green, Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala is one of the most beautiful cities in the country.
Thiruvananthapuram is home to several prestigious institutions, research laboratories and IT companies. Several
establishments of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) like VSSC, LPSC, IISU & IIST are in Thiruvananthapuram.
Brahmos, CSIR (NIIST) also have their units in Thiruvananthapuram. Technopark, one of the largest IT parks in the country, is
putting Thiruvananthapuram in the map of IT export.
The weather in Thiruvananthapuram during December is the most pleasant with an average day time temperature of 30-32° C
immediately after a pleasant northwest monsoon. The city has accommodation options for all classes of budgets and is
connected to the rest of country by all means of transport like road, rail and air.
