H I G U Y S

Hey Key Clubbers! My name is Calvin Leung and I've been a proud Key Club-ber for the past 3 years. After a roller coaster-like run serving as a member and Lieutenant Governor, I now have the privilege to serve you all as an International Trustee, assigned to the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountain, and Minnesota-Dakotas District. As Trustee, my job is to represent you in the International board, create and promote international resources, advocate large-scale projects across the states, and travel the U.S. as a face for Key Club International! To me, Key Club has become more than just a club I serve alongside my friends. It has become something more. Rather than being life-changing, this organization has been life-defining. As my friend Jun Park once told me, "we all pay our dues to be a part of Key Club, but I pay mine to be part of a family.”

In Caring and Service,

Calvin Leung Calvin Leung

The Eliminate Project has extended the deadline in selecting our Key Club subcommittee representative for the upcoming year. For those unaware, the SLP subcommittee advises Eliminate Project coordinators on SLP-related fundraising activities. The committee contains representatives from all of the Kiwanis SLPs, from Builders club all the way to Kiwanis and Aktion Club. The International Board will be recommending several potential representatives to Chairwoman Sue Petrisin through a Google forms application process. The application form can be found at http://tinyurl.com/93apqsc and is due on or before 11:59 EST/EDT Monday, August 20, 2012. INTERNATIONAL

SPECIAL COMMITTEES DEADLINE: OCTOBER 15

Key Club International is now offering all Key Club members by October 15th to become mem-bers of the Key Club International’s 3 Special Committees! As a committee member, you will not have benefits such as traveling and paid ex-penses; however, you will have the opportunity to work with the International board in making a lasting impact for Key Club International.

Bylaw Review Team The Bylaw Review Team will be thoroughly pick-ing over Key Club International’s Bylaws and Pol-icies to help eliminate discrepancies, provide clari-fication, and correct structural/grammatical is-sues. It will not be altering content. The Bylaw Review Team will present its suggestions to the Key Club International Executive Committee, who may then choose which revisions to take to the Key Club International Board.

Global Task Force The Global Task Force will serve to highlight the diversity and international flavor of our organiza-tion, as well as promote our core value of “inclusiveness” as a way to attract more members. The Global Task Force will help draft educational resources and collect stories and video for further use by the standing International committees.

Service Ambassadors Our Service Ambassadors will help promote the Eliminate Project and our Preferred Charities by encouraging Key Clubbers to participate in pro-jects. We hope they will indirectly make service attractive for members by displaying their own personal passion for the Eliminate Project and our Preferred Charities in all aspects of their lives.

NEW MEMBERSHIP UPDATE CENTER

It will have a faster, better user interface. Clubs will be able to easily add or delete several members at once. Advisors/ Secretaries will be able to login with their email address

and then create their own password. Key Club and CKI members will be able to edit their own infor-

mation, thus keeping the system current. Many of the current features that people like, such as exporting

rosters to excel, will be maintained. The new redesigned system will be ready by October 1st. Because it is later than usual, Key Club International will be sending out letters and emails to help advisors and club secretaries once it's operational. KCI will also be making step-by-step tutorial videos to help you all adjust! If you need any help, feel free to contact me!

What was

your most

favorite

ICON

moment?

Getting to

meet so many

passionate Key

Clubbers at the

Service Fair!

The meet and

greet, I loved

meeting so

many great

people!

The Key of

Honor speech.

That guy made

me well up.

My favorite ICON

was pin trading.

Being ale to talk

to random

people and ex-

change unique

pins was one of

the great ways I

was ale to meet

new people and

share different

stories!

The last 80’s

neon dance at

convention

because I got to

say good bye

and take

pictures with all

my new Key

Club friends! I

also got to

dance (and I

love dancing)!!!

My favorite

ICON moment

was getting to

wear my prom

dress for the

award session!

My favorite

ICON moment

was during the

service fair as I

got to see so

many different

people and

service oppor-

tunities across

the globe!

My favorite ICON

moment was

seeing all the

Key Clubbers in

one room and

feeling the in-

credible amount

of spirit and drive

that was in there-

it was going to

explode with

service!

My favorite

ICON moment

was the fare-

well session

when I was an-

nounced as an

International

Trustee!

Photobombing

group photos

during Meet 'n'

Greet--check

your the

background of

your photos

carefully ;)

My favorite

ICON moment

was finding my

old divisional

pin from 1999

from a pin

trader.

Meeting

everyone, and

making lots of

new friends!

Do you

have any

guilty

pleasures?

Working,

getting my

back

scratched,

listening to

movie sound-

tracks, and

writing letters.

Netflix, giant

bowls of cereal

and 90s boy

bands.

Playing Legend

of Zelda, Oracle

of Seasons on my

Blackberry,

watching

Miyazaki movies

over and over

again (Totoro)

and Dubstep!

Facebook stalk-

ing is my main

guilty pleasure. It

is the most

entertaining

thing to do when

you are not

occupied with

anything else!

Sleeping, bak-

ing, cleaning/

organizing stuff,

brushing my

teeth (I take

dental care

seriously)!

Watching

Glee, listening

to the Jonas

Brothers,

playing Disney

Sing It, and

shoes.

Ice cream (I’m

lactose Intoler-

ant, but YOLO),

Naruto (I’ve

watched 500

episodes since

April), and

Korean Pop

Singing loudly

and off key in

the shower,

romantic

comedies (let

the laughing

begin), and

Cheese-It's

Key Club, indie

music, social

media, and

the History

Channel.

Looking at

dresses I could

never afford,

painting, watch-

ing Avatar,

making fun of

Ratan Manohar’s

creepy laugh

Watching Teen

Wolf, eating

anything bad for

you, listening to

one direction,

and reading the

Hunger Games

over and over

again.

Eating,

SHOPPING,

watching "A

Cinderella Story,

staring at Marc

Chen, and

secretly dressing

up like

MaryAlice.

What is

one fact

people

usually

don’t know

about you?

I'm a rather

fearless

person, and I

love water and

snow skiing!

I would like to

obtain a

private pilot’s

license after I

graduate.

I have an enor-

mous bald spot

on the back of

my head from an

operation a long

time ago. You

can't see it

because of my

long, flowy hair.

One thing a lot

of people don’t

know is that I

always try to go

to a park at least

once a week so I

can unwind and

take in the beau-

ty of nature!

I take criticism

to the heart

and I get

stressed really

easily, but I

don’t like to

show it.

Living in Paris is

my dream!

I can only

speak one

language:

English. Yes,

I’m one of

those stupid

Asians.

I'm kind of an

outdoorsy

person/

adrenaline junkie

- I enjoy white-

water rafting,

climbing, shoot-

ing, orienteering,

spelunking- that

sort of thing

I use the

phrase “YOLO”

far too often,

sometimes

when it doesn’t

even make

sense!

I may look tiny

but I eat a ri-

diculous

amount of

food!

I am absolutely

obsessed with

YouTube

celebrities.

I am OBSESSED

with Cirque Du

Soleil.
