Nancledra School 26 June 2020
Issue 32
Dear Parents & Carers Our school has been participating in the Virtual Cornwall School games this week - the weather has been on our side! It has been wonderful to welcome Miss Slater and Mr Parker back to school this week to support teaching in our multi-age Educare Class. It has also been really good to welcome David Tremaine ("Mr T" - PE Coach) back into school to support our games week. All of our classes have increased numbers this week so it has given us great pleasure to welcome back children from Reception to Year 6. Next week will be the final week at Nancledra for our Year 6 children. We have organised some outdoor activities (archery/bushcraft) and a country walk with picnic during the last few days. At some point (weather permitting) there will be water involved because, for some reason, the children do not want to miss out on being subjected to sitting in the stocks and being pelted with wet sponges! The week will finish with a leavers' assembly on Friday 3rd July at 1.00pm. Families of children in Year 6 are invited to this assembly which we plan to hold outside on the playground or field. We are monitoring the weather forecast closely. (It is therefore possible that the leavers assembly might take place at a different time - we will make a decision early next week) We very much look forward to welcoming back children who have so far, not had the opportunity to attend in years 2-5. For all of these children the school day will be 9.00am to 3.15pm I have included a timetable for the last two weeks of school to illustrate the plans for wider opening for children in Years 2-5. These plans were described in last week's newsletter. Educare in these last 2 weeks will be available only for children of Keyworkers who are unable to arrange for their child to be cared for at home. (Keyworker definitions are on the Home page of our website) • Please email Tracy by Friday morning on 3rd July to confirm your child will be attending on
the days specified for their Year group (only a handful of parents have done this so far and we need know who will be attending)
• Please provide a packed lunch • Please wear school uniform • Please bring your own water bottle Please be assured that our staff are working very hard to maintain hygiene and cleaning protocols in school. Children will be expected wash hands regularly whilst at school. Thankyou for your support and cooperation.

What are you Reading?
Ophelia in year 5 is reading ‘The boy in
the Striped Pyjamas’ by John Boyne.
“This is about a boy, growing up during
World War 2, who moves house and
sees a camp outside his window. He
makes friends with someone inside the
camp. This book would be good for
older children who like realistic stories.
It is quite an emotional book.”
Children taking part in the Virtual School Games ...
Artwork by Gregory, year 2. Mousehole Harbour and a piece inspired by Clementine Hunter ...
