KAT DAVIDSON Genuinely amused by the perception that women are not as funny as men, Kat Davidson has often been referred to as ‘the funniest chick I’ve seen’ and has

been known to keep working class blokes and high class gals alike gasping with laughter. Kat started her stand up career in 1997 and has continued her love affair with the stage in the public eye. Tabloid reports say that the relationship is “fiery and passionate” and they have no

plans to stop seeing each other. Equally at home in a corporate venue or a room full of hens and bucks, Kat brings a fresh and intelligent view to her comedy. She tackles relationships, observations and random events with equal passion and her unique storytelling ability takes her audience along with her for the ride.Kat has been a professional improviser since 1993, hosted Gala Events, coached blue chip companies in communication and worked a crowd from the back of a cattle truck. Occasionally, all at the same time! She can be heard regularly across Queensland ABC radio and has headlined the best clubs in Australia and Canada.

MATER FOUNDATIONThe CQIB members and associate members have nominated Queensland’s Mater Foundation as their charity partner. With your support, the 2016 Conference raised over $30,000 to support the Mater Mission Fund which helps families all over Queensland through their time of financial need due to illness and sickness.Payment of bills, travel, accommodation, house cleaning, groceries and special needs like wheelchairs can be supplied to help families in their time of need.

Funds raised this year will go towards purchasing two complete fetal monitoring machines, which provides a means of monitoring fetal heartbeats during pregnancy. We ask all delegates and members to continue their support through conference pledges and lets continue to make a difference to the 10,000 births per year at Mater.

WELCOME TO OUR 25TH ANNUAL CONVENTIONI’d like to welcome back all our members, business partners and families to our second consecutive year on the Gold Coast, where amazing food, great company and exciting entertainment awaits on this, our 25th Annual CQIB Convention weekend.

The convention kicks off on Thursday afternoon with the Mater Scavenger Hunt around the Sanctuary Cove precinct, leading into a Welcome to the Country night with CGU featuring a well-known music group. On Friday night, dress in your white winter attire and get ready for the QBE white out party, where a corporate band will have you dancing the night away. And to finish off the weekend, Vero will host a Seven Deadly Sins themed dinner.

The theme this year is around The Broker’s Toolkit and will include a variety of informative sessions ranging from online marketing and how to market your business to

a representative from Verizon who will speak about ethical hacking and the cyber world. To finish off the convention, we will hear from our keynote speaker Ben Southall, who held the “best job in the world”.

Events like these cannot be possible, without the support of our Business Partners, without whom CQIB would not be able to provide this service to its members, so we offer a special thank you to each of them, especially our Gold Partners, CGU, QBE and Vero.

On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank you all for your attendance and look forward to seeing you all at the conference, for an enjoyable weekend of networking and relaxation, spent with family, friends and colleagues.
