1. SCOPE

This Specification and its attachments cover the requirements for Equipment Noise Control for

the Carbon Black & Delayed Coker Project.

This specification shall be read in conjunction with the attached Design General Specification

No. DGS-MU-009 Revision 1, dated May 2009, and the specific requirements of the

requisition(s) in which it is incorporated.

2. AMENDMENTS

The following amendments and additions shall apply to Design General Specification No.

DGS-MU-009, Revision 1, dated May 2009.

2.1. Amendments to Section 1.0 – GENERAL

1.3. Definitions

The following definitions shall be added under definitions

COMPANY – Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (TAKREER)

SUBCONTRACTOR - The party(s) which carry(s) out all or part of the design,

procurement, installation and testing of the System(s) as specified by the

CONTRACTOR / VENDOR.

MANUFACTURER/VENDOR – Supplier of equipment and support services for a

particular piece of equipment/package.

CONTRACTOR – Organisation to which TAKREER award the Engineering,

Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase.

2.2. Amendments to Section 2.0 – CODES AND STANDARDS

REPLACE second sentence “The latest edition in force shall apply” WITH “31 December 2010 is the

effective date for codes and standards i.e. the code or standard valid on that date shall be the one to be

used”.

Under American Petroleum Institute (API):

- Amend API RP 521 Guide for Pressure-Relieving and Depressuring Systems to API STD

Under INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION (IEC):

- Amend IEC 61672 Specification for sound level meters to IEC 61672 Electroacoustics-

Sound level meters.

Under INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR STANDARDIZATION (ISO):

- Amend ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System – Requirements.

- Amend ISO 9004:2000 to ISO 9004:2009 Managing for the sustained success of an

organization – A quality management approach.

- Amend ISO 19011 Quality Management Guidelines for Performance Improvement

System to ISO 19011 Guidelines for quality and /or environmental management systems

auditing.

2.3. Amendments to Section 4.0 – DOCUMENT PRECEDENCE

REPLACE: “In case of conflict the order or precedence shall be stated in the AGREEMENT

or other PROJECT documents as applicable”

WITH: “In case of conflict, the documentation order of precedence is:

A. Datasheets

B. Specification

C. Codes and Standards

D. Standard drawings”.

2.4. Amendments to Section 6.0 – QUALITY ASSURANCE / QUALITY CONTROL

REPLACE WITH: “VENDOR shall comply with the Quality Assurance and Quality Control

requirements specified in the Purchase order documentation”.

2.5. Amendments to Section 9.0 – ACOUSTICAL DESIGN

Paragraph 1, line 2. Replace “preference” with “precedence”.

2.6. Amendments to Section 12.0 – EQUIPMENT NOISE LIMITS

Section 12.3.3. Amend 3rd paragraph to read:

“If connected piping is not within the VENDOR’S scope, VENDOR shall confirm

anticipated in pipe noise level in the connected piping due to his equipment. This

noise level shall be quoted as sound power level”.

Section 12.3.4. Amend last sentence to read:

An acceptable method of calculating vent noise is given in API STD 521.

2.7. Amendments to Appendix 1 – DATA SHEETS

Replace data sheets described with those attached to this addendum in Appendix 1,

(Attachments 1, 2 and 3).

Data sheets attached to current DGS contain formatting errors and missing text.
