Greetings and welcome to a fresh-off-the-

Bank’s journey. We also report on Mr Puri’s
school visit, where accompanied by several
senior members of our leadership team,
he announced that our Bank will plant 25
lakh saplings across the country and set

schools. Both initiatives underscore our
Bank's commitment to being a socially

extra step to give future generations better
opportunities and a better world.

HDFC BANK @ 25C O V E R S T O RY
As our Bank completes 25 years and we look forward to the next 25, we take a walk down memory lane at some of the milestones along the way…
What began with a single office at Sandoz House, a single branch at Ramon House and a staff of
12 is now India’s #1 Bank. In 1995, ours was one of a handful of private banks to get its licence
from the Reserve Bank of India.
Today, our Bank has a network of over 5,000 branches and more than 1.14 lakh employees.
Over the years, our Bank has grown its reach and its product offerings, all the while earning
the trust of its customers and the respect of its peers across India and the world.
As we mark our 25th anniversary, here’s a look at some of the highlights over the past quarter-century...

The story of HDFC Bank is a story of hope – that began back in 1954 with new optimism for the recently opened up banking sector. In the
same spirit, what better way to usher in the next 25 years of our Bank, than by renewing our commitment to future generations.
It is with this motivation that HDFC Bank announced that it will plant 25 lakh trees across India and further reduce carbon emissions by
10 per cent in the coming years.
Further, the Bank will also install digital classrooms across 2,500 Government schools across India. At an event in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar
Municipal School (Mumbai), our MD Mr Aditya Puri planted a guava sapling as the first of the 25 lakh saplings. Mr Puri also inaugurated
a digital classroom at the school. The school is one of the 150 Mumbai schools the Bank is associated with.

600 digital classrooms

EMBARKING UPON A NEW STORY OF HOPE To mark the occasion of its 25th anniversary, our Bank has pledged to plant 25 lakh trees and digitise 2,500 classrooms in Government schools
There are no alternatives to a clean environment and smart classrooms. Both are an absolute necessity for our nation to become the global force we all want it to be. As we complete 25 years of existence, this is a small gesture from our side to our beloved country. - Mr Aditya Puri, MD
At HDFC Bank we have always believed in empowering our people and communities through our products,
services and actions to bring about a visible change or 'Parivartan' for the better. We are now taking our commitment
to the next level with our new campaign 'MAD' which stands for Making A Difference.
MAD is aligned to the Bank's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda.
It is a global initiative that is linked to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
So be part of this movement and stay tuned for new initiatives...
Let's Make A Difference together.

RAJINDER BABBAR
HEAD - RURAL BANKING
I N C O N V E R S AT I O N W I T H
An informative session that covers the early days of the business and the many ways in which our Bank is providing value to India's farmers
Presenting the all-new HDFC Bank Cares logo and some helpful tips on staying healthy and happy
“Rural banking will grow far more over the
next 10 years as opposed to the urban
market,” shares Mr Rajinder Babbar,
Head - Rural Banking department, in an
enlightening chat with Mr Sanjay Ojha
of Corporate Communications. The
latest interview of our ongoing series 'In
Conversation' covers a surprising amount
of ground – from the humble beginnings of
the Rural Banking initiative nearly a decade
ago, through its overwhelming success. At
one point, Mr Babbar shares a surprising
fact - the Bank has distributed nearly
`50,000 crore among 5 lakh farmers till
date. He shares the Bank’s digital initiatives
for rural banking and its expected impact on
both agriculture and overall development.
Mr Babbar also goes into detail about the
Bank’s specialised rural financial products
(like the Kisan Gold Loan, amongst many
others), and even our various initiatives for
increasing the technological and financial
literacy of small farmers in the country.
“I see a very bright future for rural India,”
concludes Mr Babbar. watch video
THE NEW FACE OF WELLNESSH D FC B A N K CA R E S
At HDFC Bank, employee well-being and
wellness has always been a top priority.
The HDFC Bank CARES programme
undertakes regular initiatives to promote
wellness across Bank locations, through
online and offline engagements.
Recently, the programme was rebranded
not just in terms of its logo (which reflects
the vibrance of our workforce), but also in
terms of the many new aspects that the
programme will cover.
Get your dose of happiness
The first video of the series addresses
stress. Titled 'Get your daily DOSE of
stress-busting hormones', the video
starts off by exploring the effects of
stress on one’s body. “With any sudden
change of event your body’s adrenal
gland releases a set of hormones called
Cortisol, Epinephrine, Norepinephrine,”
shares the video. These hormones can
flood your bloodstream pretty quickly and
are the reasons behind you experiencing
stress. Whilst such stress can be seen
as desirable or even enjoyable in “smaller
doses” like a roller-coaster ride or a first
Have news you’d like to share with colleagues? Whether it's about your branch, office, team or a personal
achievement, write in to us at [email protected] or
date, the video cautions us of what can
happen if it’s left unchecked. It can even
“reduce [our] lifespan by as much as 33
years”.
In order to regulate this stress, the video
introduces its protagonists: the DOSE
gang. The term is an abbreviation of
the following hormones - Dopamine
(the “reward” hormone), Oxytocin (the
“love” hormone), Serotonin (the “peace”
hormone), and Endorphin (the “will-power”
hormone). Rendered as cheery, bubbly
characters, we’re then suggested ways
of releasing these “happy hormones” –
ranging from daily exercise to meditation to
even spending time with loved ones.
Watch the video to know how the DOSE
gang can help you bust stress.
