Convention Information

Continuing Education (CE) and Pharmacology Accreditation:AANP Approval: This activity is approved for 16.0 contact hour(s) of con-tinuing education (which includes 6.59 hours of pharmacology) by the Amer-ican Association of Nurse Practitioners. Activity ID 18083321. This activity was planned in accordance with AANP Accreditation Standards and Policies.

OKBON Approval: This program has been approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing for 19.2 Category B continuing education pharmacology hours.

NOTE: AONP conferences are approved for continuing education and pharmacology hours from both AANP and OKBON. The 19.2 pharmacology hours approved by OKBON are accepted by AANP. The conference CE hours are also accepted by ANCC.

CE credit will only be given for lectures and workshops that are attended in their entirety. Attendee name badges contain an small radio frequency tag that is scanned by readers located near the lecture entry door. Attendees must wear their name badge to scan and log your attendance.

Badges do NOT read in a pocket, purse or bag. Please use the lanyard and WEAR the NAME BADGE throughout the conference to get CE credit.

Evaluations: Individual session evaluations must be completed for each lecture. They are available online on the Activities page of the AONP website at npofoklahoma.com. The online evaluations will not be visible until after the lecture begins.

Convention Information

The overall conference evaluation must be completed by each attendee and will be available on the Activities page of the AONP website on the final day of the conference.

CE Certificates: Conference attendees will receive their Conference CE Certificate within two weeks of the conference - but after evaluations have been completed. If you don’t receive it, check your spam/junk folders. If you need another copy, email [email protected].

Your AONP CE Certificates are also filed in your AONP membership profile. To view your membership profile, click “sign-in” in the upper-right corner of the AONP website and enter your username and password.

Lecture Materials: Speaker presentations and lecture materials will be available, during the conference, on the Activities page of the AONP website at npofoklahoma.com and pre-loaded on flash drives provided to each attendee at conference check-in. A printed copy of lecture presentations will not be provided.

Other Information: Your family and pets are welcome to join you during your visit to Tulsa for the AONP conference, however, children and pets will not be allowed to sit in on conference training sessions.

About the Speakers

Carolyn Berg, MDAdvanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma

Carolyn Berg is an Orthopedic physician specializing in upper extremity surgery. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in Surgery of the Hand (CAQ). She completed her residency in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery.

Amanda BertoneHolistic Greens CBD and Distribution

Amanda is a 2014 graduate of University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Science degree. She also has degrees in Communications and Psychology along with certifications in Nutrition, Fitness, Sports Psychology and many others. She also completed a certification in Cannabis education.

Amanda is involved in the Cannabis industry in Oklahoma and owns a full distribution center in which she distributes nationwide. Amanda promotes education and advocates for natural medicine and full plant remedies.

Amanda is the mother of twins and also enjoys playing golf and tennis in her spare time.

Laure DeMattia, DONorman Regional Health System

Laure DeMattia works with patients that are interested in non-surgical weight management to treat obesity. She also sees patients six-months post-op from bariatric surgery, helping them get back on track post operatively. She focused her career on treating obesity and advocating for access to care surrounding anti-obesity medication and bariatric surgery

Andrea Hamor Edmondson, MA, CDSVRPOk. Dept Mental Health and Subst. Abuse Svcs

Andrea Hamor Edmondson oversees statewide efforts to reduce opioid overdose outcomes and deaths. Projects she is involved in include the Oklahoma Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention Project, The Oklahoma First-Responder Naloxone Project, State Treatment and Response and the Children’s Health Improvement Plan. She is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating statewide opioid overdose prevention efforts. Andrea has 10 years of experience in public health focusing on prevention of adverse health consequences through behavior change.

Beau Michael Hawkins, MDUniv. of Oklahoma, College of Medicine

Dr. Hawkins is Asst. Professor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Section at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with distinction and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed residency, chief residency and cardiovascular diseases fellowship at the University of Oklahoma. He then moved to Boston to complete fellowships in interventional cardiology and vascular medicine and intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital. He holds committee positions within the American College of Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and Society of Vascular Medicine.

Ronald LaButti, DOAdvanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma

Ronald LaButti is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics for the Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine orthopedic surgery residency program. He has 20 years experience with computer assisted knee replacement surgery and 10 years experience with robotic total knee replacement. His sub-specialty/interests are re-constructive procedures of the hip and knee including, hip replacement and computer assisted robotic knee replacement. Dr. LaButti has performed thousands of computer assisted total knee replacements and more than 1,500 robotic total knee replacements.

Tracy Langley, DNP, APRN-CNP Chickasaw Nation Medical Center

Tracy Langley has been a registered nurse for 20 years with 12 of those years as a family nurse practitioner. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from East Central University, master's degree from the University of Oklahoma and DNP from Oklahoma City University. Tracy works for the Chickasaw Nation in the outpatient internal medicine department and urgent care. She also is an adjunct faculty at East Central University. Skin conditions are one of the most common acute and chronic problem encountered in primary care. With a lack of referral resources in rural areas and for the under-insured; being able to accurately biopsy a rash or a skin lesion is instrumental to helping people get proper treatment.

Leah Melton, APRN-CNP, BC-ADM Central Ok Diabetes Center

Leah earned her Nursing degree at UCO. She worked as a critical care nurse before returning to the University of Michigan, to complete the NP program, graduating with honors. She worked in an Endocrinology clinic caring for diabetes patients. But, after a trip to London and a tour of the Florence Nightingale Museum, Leah returned home with the goal of advocating for access to care. She opened a clinic in Norman, specializing in Diabetes. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and is specialty board certified from the American Association of Diabetic Educators in Advanced Diabetes Management. When not in her clinic, you will find her riding her favorite Tennessee Walking Horse, Mac, or enjoying the antics of the smartest equines in her pasture, her donkeys, Gracie and Mumsford.

Michael Thambuswamy, MDOklahoma Spine & Brain Institute

Dr. Michael Thambuswamy, is from the Tulsa area graduating, with honors, from Jenks High School.

He obtained his undergraduate and MBA degrees from Baylor University; his fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology, from the Miller School of Medicine, at the University of Miami; his neurosurgery training as Chief Resident and his doctorate from OU College of Medicine. Dr. Thambuswamy is devoted to providing care for the "working poor" and under-served by volunteering at free clinics such as Bedlam Longitudinal Clinic and Bedlam Clinic. He also volunteers at local schools, promoting the sciences and education on career opportunities in scientific fields.

Mary Morris, MSN, APRN-CNP, CGRNSouthwest Gastroenterology Associates, PLLC

Mary earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her Masters in Nursing, from OU College of Nursing. She is a certified Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and certified GI nurse. She has experience in surgery/trauma ICU, pediatrics and adult gastroenterology. She is a member of several nursing organizations including the ONA, ANA, STTI, AANP, AONP, COSGNA and SGNA. She has served as Nurse of the Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol. She currently works at Southwest Gastroenterology Associates in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Oklahoma City and lives with her husband and their a two year-old son.  In her spare time, she enjoys serving her church, running and participating in foreign missions.

Lana Nelson, DO, FACOS Norman Regional Health System

Lana Nelson is a bariatric surgeon and director for the bariatric surgery program at Norman Regional. She founded Journey Clinic in 2010, a comprehensive clinic devoted to medical and surgical treatment of obesity. The bariatric surgery program at Norman Regional is recognized as a comprehensive center for bariatric surgery through the metabolic and bariatric surgery quality improvement project.

Jabraan S Pasha, MD, RDMSOU TU School of Community Medicine

Jabraan Pasha is a registered diagnostic medical sonogropher. He is the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency program and OU/TU School of Community Medicine. Dr. Pasha is the Director of Bedside Ultrasound for the Internal Medicine Department at the OU / TU School of Community Medicine in Tulsa. He is also the co-developer and co-director for the Ultrasound Clinical Medicine course for first year and second year medical students.

Antonia Pratt-Reid, MSN, APRN-CNP, FNP, CCRNFamily Healthcare & Minor Emergency Clinic 

Toni Pratt-Reid is a family nurse practitioner in an independently owned clinic which specializes in both family practice and urgent care in a setting with serves both rural and urban clients. She has worked in a healthcare setting since 1974, working as an LPN in a rural mountain clinic. After moving to Oklahoma she worked in the Pulmonary Cardiology Critical Care and Emergency Department. After earning her master's degree at OU, she focused on opening an NP clinic while working as a provider in level 2 trauma.  Toni maintains her CCRN and holds emergency department privileges at local hospitals.

Margaret Rosales is a faculty member in the University of Tulsa’s AG-ACNP program. She works in ICU with a neuro-critical care physician group. She has worked as an ICU Hospitalist for more than six years, managing critically-ill adult patients.

Robert “Bud” Scott, Esq.New Health Solutions Oklahoma, Inc.

Robert “Bud” Scott is the Executive Director of New Health Solutions Oklahoma, Inc., the 501(c)6 trade association for Oklahoma’s cannabis industry, focused on public policy development, industry research and analytics, and continuing education for the industry and community stakeholders. He serves on the Oklahoma Dept. of Health advisory board. He has experience as a cultivator in the Netherlands, prior to becoming an attorney. He has worked in the cannabis business for more than six years in several states regarding corporate formation and regulatory compliance. He leads Oklahoma’s largest association representing Oklahoma’s emerging cannabis industry, New Health Solutions Oklahoma.

Amanda Spencer, APRN-CNPOklahoma Heart Hospital

Amanda Spencer specializes in the treatment of patients with heart failure and other cardiovascular disorders. She earned her Bachelor’s of Nursing and master's degree from OUHSC. She enjoys taking an integrative approach to healthcare and being able to offer patients natural solutions to their health concerns if they desire. Amanda believes that natural health parallels the nursing model by taking a whole patient wellness approach and believes that health is more than simply the absence of disease. Her goal is to promote knowledge and acceptance with providers whose patients who wish to use natural solutions and educate patients regarding potential risks of standard and natural therapy.

Wendy L. Wright, FNP, FAANP, FAAN Wright & Associates Family Healthcare

Wendy is an Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner (NP) and the owner of two, NP owned and operated clinics in New Hampshire (NH) - Wright & Associates Family Healthcare. She is also the owner of Partners in Healthcare Education, a medical education company. She is past president of NPACE and the senior lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the AANP NH State Excellence Award, NH NP of the Year and Top 5 Women in NH Business Award. She has been inducted as a Fellow in AANP, the American Academy of Nursing and the National Academies of Practice. She is the founder of the NH Chamber of Entrepreneurial Nurse Practitioners, an organization designed to assist NPs with independent practice issues. In addition to full-time clinical practice, she presents at thousands of conferences and is a medical spokesperson for various media outlets.
