If you are attending Annunciation and are not registered with the Parish as a member, we have no idea if you are a participating Catholic or not, so please register and if you can not afford to give monetarily please put a blank

visitors envelope in the offertory so that we know you are attending. Also for all of you who pay by cash we really appreciate it but if you would put it in an envelope we could track that you are attending as well. It is important when it comes to all the Sacraments. FOURTH DEGREE EMBLEM

Just as the name tag of the 4th degree Knights is unique so is the distinctive emblem of the degree.

The triad emblem of the Fourth Degree features the Dove, the Cross and the Globe. The Dove, the classic symbol of the Holy Spirit and Peace is shown hovering over the earth (Globe). Both are mounted on a variation of the Isabella Cross which was found on the tunics and capes of the Crusading Knights who battled to regain the Holy Land from the pagans. Spiritually, the sacred symbols on the emblem typify the Union of the Three Divine Persons in one Godhead, the most Blessed Trinity: The Globe — God the Father, Creator of the Universe. The Cross — God the Son, Redeemer of Mankind. The Dove — God the Holy Spirit, Sanctifier of Humanity. The colors of the symbols are: A blue Globe with the lands of the Western Hemisphere in white. A red Cross with gold borders, and gold knobs also known as the Isabella Cross. A white dove. These, the colors of our flag stress the basic principal of the Fourth Degree PATRIOTISM. [extract from KofC website]

Brother Knights plan on joining us to make our Award Winning Sausage (at least on our minds)

What is a Solemnity? We celebrate the Solemnity of St. John the Baptist on June 24th, but what is a solemnity? A solemnity is a celebration of the greatest importance. Feasts are of second importance, followed by memorials. Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation are always considered solemnities. Other Solemnities include St. Joseph, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and St. Peter and St. Paul. So what do we celebrate on the Solemnity of St. John the Baptist? We are celebrating his birth. The Church’s liturgy only celebrates three births throughout the entire year: Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and St. John the Baptist. Many believe St. John the Baptist was born without original sin, however, unlike Mary and Jesus, he was conceived with original sin. So is this why he has a solemnity? No. St John the Baptist is considered worthy of a solemnity because without the birth of St. John the Baptist, Jesus’ mission couldn't have happened. St. John came as the “Elijah figure” to herald the coming of the Messiah.

Catholic Schools and Citizenship “In a survey compiled by a non-American, non-Catholic source, it was indicated that private school graduates are significantly more likely to actively participate in civic activities than their public school counterparts. Catholic schools were ranked #1 in the percentage of graduates who actively participate in civic and community activities such as voting, volunteering, letter writing to legislators, Catholic Concerns Day, and donations to charity, not just for a tax write-off, but out of a sense of the requirements of justice.” Rev. Ronald J. Nuzzi, Ph.D., Dir. of Catholic Leadership Programs Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), University of Notre Dame As we approach the Fourth of July and celebrate our na-tion, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our Parish for your role in nurturing a sense of patriotism and citizenship in our students. Our daily rituals of raising the flag, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, and learning patriotic songs all work together to teach our Annunciation stu-dents to be responsible and respectful citizens. This year, our students reverently honored a veteran’s funeral by silently watching the procession from the church and the accompanying rifle shots. They learned about the importance of voting from a community volun-teer. Their education here at Annunciation immerses them in the truth and beauty of service to our county. I can think of no better way to instill the values of duty and dedication in our youngest community members!
