Invitation
Visva-Bharati, Founded by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore has grown out of the Santiniketan Ashrama of
Maharshi Devendrabnath Tagore, father of Rabindranath Tagore. It began with a small experimental School,
Brahmacharyasram, set up in December 1901. Santiniketan took on a cosmopolitan character fast and expended
vastly. In December 1921, Visva-Bharati was inaugurated as a ‘National University’ with an International outlook, as
a centre of learning where the cultures of East and West may meet in a common fellowship. It became a central
University by Parliamentary Act XXIX of May 1951. Physical Education has a multi dimensional concept in Visva-
Bharati. In childhood Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore himself used to practice Traditional Games Kusti in the morning.
His famous quotes “Sports and Games has a great importance in Education’’ has been a true realization in every day
programme of School children of Visva-Bharati since inception of Brahmacharyasram in 1901.
Visva-Bharati is ensconced in a rural setting in the district of Birbhum, about 160 km by road from Kolkata. The
nearest Railway station is Bolpur-Santiniketan on the Eastern Railways and the nearest Air-terminal is Netaji Subhas
Chandra Bose International Airport at Dum Dum, Kolkata. The University Campus is about 3 km from the railway
station can be reached in a little over two hours from Kolkata by rail or road. By train it is about 148 km.
It is a matter of great pleasure that Visva-Bharati Sports Board and Department of Physical Education
jointly are organising24th National Conference of Sports Psychology- 2014 at Santiniketan during 4th --6th
January 2014. Present Conference is designed to provide a common platform to the Sports and Physical
Education Scientists, Scholars, Coaches, Trainers, Therapist etc. to exchange their ideas and experiences for
the welfare of young performers as well as common people as a whole.

"SPAI Young Scientist Award": A special session of paper presentation (age up to 35yrs) will be
organised for selecting the best paper presentation for the award of SPAI young scientist. Paper
should be single author one and not a part of thesis/dissertation for the award of any degree/
diploma and should not have been presented in any forum. The screening committee will select
papers for presentation in the SPAI young scientist award session. For further details of the

SPAI Fellow: Application should reach along with full (list of contribution for Sports Psychology)
resume and application fee of Rs. 2500/...as draft (D.D) drawn in favor of Sport Psychology
Association of India payable at Varanasi. The fee will be refunded, if selected by the screening
committee. Application for SPAI fellow should reach to Secretary General on or before 20th Dec
13.Sport Psychology Association of India decided to confer Fellowship to eminent persons in the
field of sport psychology who have contributed significantly to the field either academically or in
applied manner or in both. Nominations, for this purpose, will be made either from the members
of the Executive committee of the SPAI or from the Vice-chancellors of Universities or Heads of
Psychology Departments/ Directors of Sport Institutes/ Physical Education/ Learned Sport
Societies of the country. One person can nominate only one name at a time. Nominations will be
submitted to the Secretary General, SPAI ( in prescribed Performa ) on or before 20th Dec.
2013.The selection will be made by a team of three experts ( one chairman and another two
members ) appointed by the President and Secretary General.
