Update Network

• Allows you to selectively update the access control network– The complete database, all databases to all

controllers– Only changed database items to only affected

controllers

Opening the Update Network Window

• Open the Operate > Update Network window by either:

– Tool bar button

– Pull-down menu option

Other Update Features

• Collect events from all controllers

• Delay the update process to an off-hour

• Set retries in case the first attempt does not connect (for modem connections)

Update Required

• The Update Required field displays whether or not a system update is needed

Smart versus Total Update

• You can select either Smart or Total update– Doors will not allow you to select both

• Clicking in either update field toggles between the and options

Smart Update

• Smart Update – reviews all Doors databases and uploads only those items that have changed since the last update– Quicker update time

Total Update

• Total Update – uploads all Doors databases – Slower update time due to the amount of data that must be

uploaded– Must be done when the system is first configured

Collect Events

• If enabled, event collection occurs following the system updates

• Clicking in the collect events field toggles between and

Update Status

• Reports the status of the currently defined update

Network Phone Number

• If the host computer/access network connection is made via modem, the access network’s phone number is displayed

Network TCP/IP Address

• If the host computer/access network connection is made via LAN TCP/IP, the access network’s IP address is displayed

Start the Update

• Once the update and collection parameters are set, click the button to begin the update

During an Update

• The Status Field identifies an update is in progress• The Status Window displays the individual update

and event collection steps as they are performed

Update Complete

• Signified by the “COMPLETE” message in the Status Window and the green, back-lit Update Required, Status, and Phone Number fields

Retries

• Should the attempt to connect to the access network fail, you can specify a number of connection retries to be performed

Delay

• Delays the network process for the amount of time selected– Typically used to delay an update to an hour with little

network and telephone traffic (i.e. 2 AM)

Delay Countdown

• When the button is clicked, the delay countdown begins

• No other online Doors management can be done until the countdown ends and the update is complete
