SPONSORS

WELCOME TO THE 11TH PIPELINE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PARALLEL TO THE NEW "PIPE AND SEWER CONFERENCE"

EUROPE’S BIGGEST PIPELINE CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

600+ DELEGATES

50+ EXHIBITORS

55+ DIFFERENT NATIONS

DELEGATIONS FROM 50+ DIFFER-ENT PIPELINE OPERATORS

From 23-25 May 2016, Europe’s biggest

pipeline conference and exhibition, the

Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc), will

take place for the 11th time.

In 2016 the ptc will take place in parallel

to the new Pipe and Sewer Conference

(PASC). Both shows will share the same

exhibition area. All delegates are free to

move between the technical sessions and could attend all parts of the pro-

gram. The unique gathering of pipeline, pipe and sewer professional from all

over the world will create a multitude of synergies and furthers the exchange

of experience across borders and transported media.

Both event, ptc and PASC offer opportunities for operators as well as

technology and service providers to exchange latest technologies and new

developments supporting the energy strategies world-wide. More than 600

delegates are expected to come to Berlin.

The conferences will feature lectures and presentations on all aspects sur-

rounding oil, gas, water, product, district heating and cooling pipeline, pipe

and sewer systems.

Please take a closer look at the following pages and get involved now - re-

serve your place at the 11th Pipeline Technology Conference & 1st Pipe and

DINNER INVITATIONTUESDAY, 24 MAY, 18:00GRUNEWALD HUNTING LODGE+ BERLIN SIGHTSEEING TOUR

BACKGROUNDOn the evening of Conference day 1 the traditional “Pipeline Technology Conference Get-together” takes place directly within the exhibition and catering area. All confer-ence delegates are not only granted free entry but also a complimentary supper and drinks while being entertained by live-music. Please keep the get-together invitation you receive upon registration at the confer-ence. It will contain your personal win code for this year's get-together raffle.

PARTICIPANTSAll registered delegates, exhibitors and sponsors of the 11th Pipeline Technology Conference. Dress code: Business casual

BACKGROUNDBusses for the Grunewald Hunting Lodge (Jagdschloss Grunewald) will depart from Estrel Hotel at 18:00. The Grunewald Hunting Lodge has been built 1543 on the shores of Lake Grunewaldsee, where it served as an exclusive royal hunting lodge. It is the oldest Berlin palace still in existence. Today the palace houses an important art collection (guided tours available). The participants will enjoy a cozy barbecue right in front of the picturesque castle. Participants are invited to prove their "hunting skills" at an archery range. Busses returning to the Estel Hotel will depart from 22:00. On their way back the participants will get some insights into Berlin by night during a bus sightseeing tour through both historic and modern Berlin.

PARTICIPANTSAll pre-registered delegates, exhibitors and sponsors of the 11th Pipeline Technology Conference and invited guests from governmental bodies. Registered ptc delegates might take along their spouse/partner at an extra charge of 50 €.Dress code: Smart casual

POST-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPWEDNESDAY, 25 MAY 2016, 14:00-17:00, ESTREL BERLIN, ROOM 30241

PIPELINE LEAK DETECTIONDemand for pipeline leak detection and location systems is increasing rapidly. Unfor-

tunately general knowledge about these systems is still limited and the view that these

systems ‘will only detect catastrophic leaks’ or ‘give false alarms all the time’ is still heard

regularly. This view may be the result of bad experience in the past, unrealistic expecta-

tions, or a combination of the two.

This workshop shows the benefits of using a leak detection system which combines

several API 1130 technologies into one system. Following an introduction to the principles

behind PipePatrol E-RTTM and its model supported, statistical classification method,

field data is presented to show the capabilities of the system in a real-world, operational environment. It will be shown that modern

leak detection systems do allow leak detection without false alarms, on liquid and even on gas pipelines operated in dynamic (transient)

conditions. Historical Data will be used to show capabilities of the system while simulating a leak test in real-time. The results of this life

demonstration will be discussed. Performance of an average leak detection time of 300 seconds for leaks

AGENDA14:00 Welcome

14:00-15:00 Basics of pipeline leak detection

The first part of the workshop describes the basic fundamentals of pipeline leak detection systems. Overview of leak detection systems:

models, comparison, technical possibilities and limitations, how to reduce false alarms to practically zero. Description of typical LDS

System and SCADA architectures. International rules and standards are also part of this presentation, many practical examples and refer-

ences are given.

15:00-15:30 Break

15:30-17:00 Practical Training

In the second part pipeline details from attendees of the workshop will be used to design respective leak detection systems. Technical

limits and possibilities, e.g. realistic response times as well as detection accuracy, will be calculated during the workshop. Concepts are

introduced that can achieve remarkable leak detection results in real-world applications while minimizing overall cost.

17:00 End of training / Discussion

(Special Discount for Delegates of ptc 2016)

The course will provide an in-depth introduction into the subject and importance of pipeline inspection and integrity management. Delegates will learn about the need for pipeline inspection and the use of inspection for the analysis of the pipelines integ-rity and fitness-for-purpose.

The course will introduce the flaws and anomalies observed in pipelines. Suitable external and internal inspection technologies will be introduced including the strength and weaknesses of the non-destructive testing principles applied.

The material cover details on a pipeline inspection operation, including pipeline preparation, cleaning, gauging.

Final Reports, Reporting Formats are discussed. The course also includes a short introduction into integrity assessment.

Lecturers: Dr. Michael Beller, Dr. Konrad Reber, Ulrich Schneider

The course will provide an in-depth introduction into the subject and importance of Geohazards and Geotechnics during the stages of evaluation, design, construction and operation of a pipeline.

Delegates will learn about the need for Geohazard Assessment and Geotechnical Engineering in relation to the route selection and the pipeline integrity. Additionally, potential protection measures and/or monitoring techniques will be presented.

The main disciplines that will be presented during the course are Engineering Geology, Soil Mechan-ics, and Rock Mechanics, while special emphasis will be given on Slope Instabilities and Stabilization Methods.

Since many countries worldwide are characterized by moderate or high seismicity, the course will also introduce the topics of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and Pipeline Seismic Design.

Lecturers: Dr. Andreas Antoniou, Dr. Prodromos Psarropoulos

operators increased steadily. At the

last ptc more than 100 delegates from

50 different national and international

pipelines operators came to Berlin.
