You will be required to understand complex working practices across a wide range of health professions including consultants, nursing and Allied Health Profession staff, and translate them into technical solutions to improve the flow of information to support the business requirement of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. You will manage and provide a development and implementation service for new third party applications which enhance the deliverables of the clinical practice which form a key part of the Glasgow ICT strategy. As a senior member of the IT team you will be expected to anticipate problems and to resolve them and be responsible for ensuring through negotiation the release of the support and training staff within the department to achieve both implementation and support requirements. You will have the discretion to identify solutions to both technical and process issues and have the skills in developing relationships with other IT staff, development Staff, Clinicians and project Staff. You will be educated to Diploma or Degree level in an IT related subject or with the equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience. You will have gained a substantial amount of practical experience in the specification, development and implementation of information systems within a public or private service environment and a theoretical knowledge of network architecture gained through past implementations of product sets. Multi-systemic Therapy is a community-based model directed at older children, teenagers and their families. This approach will be targeted at those families in which the young person is at risk of coming into care and will aim to prevent family breakdown, reduce offending and improve educational outcomes. You will be part of a new team of four therapists providing a Multi-systemic Therapy programme in Glasgow. This is a new and very exciting opportunity to be involved in this development. Your duties will include intensive therapeutic intervention with children, young people and their families, liaising with key professionals and agencies involved in their lives. You must also be available to participate as part of a 24-hours per day, 7 days per week rota. You will have a masters or equivalent qualification in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work or a related subject area and must have experience in treating serious youth antisocial behaviour. A related professional qualification and suitable experience may also qualify at the discretion of the agency. Experience in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Family Therapy, Marital Therapy and provision of group and individual supervision is preferred. This is two year funded post starting July 2009 within North Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP). As part of a team you will provide effective intensive smoking cessation support for communities and individuals within the CHCP. Work will be carried out in accordance with the framework provided by the Tobacco Planning and Implementation Group at Greater Glasgow & Clyde Board, improving health and reducing health inequalities. The bulk of intensive support involves planning and running cessation groups and, using a protocol specifically designed for the purpose, providing follow-on support to clients who wish to give up smoking. Referrals will primarily come from CHCP staff, e.g. GP's and self referrals but you will stimulate the interest of communities, voluntary sector and other partner agencies. The model used for smoking cessation is an evidence based model with good 12 month outcomes developed at the Maudsley Hospital in London by Professor Hayek. You will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with relevant experience of working in health promotion, public health or a relevant health improvement arena. This post will offer you a chance to further develop your career in one of the largest paediatric diabetes centres in the UK. This post is offered as a one year contract to cover the secondment of the present post holder. You will lead and develop the Dietetic Service to the Paediatric Diabetes Service at Yorkhill Hospital which is a regional paediatric centre for the West of Scotland and a tertiary centre for specialist referrals from all over Scotland. You will undertake an extended practitioner role and have the knowledge and ability to contribute in a specialist team to educate and support children in all aspects of diabetes care. You will also play a key role in policy development, strategic planning and the continued development of Paediatric Diabetes Services locally, regionally and nationally. With a BSc in Dietetics or equivalent, you will also have post graduate training in diabetes and post graduate clinical experience in specialist dietetics, including substantial experience in managing patients with Type 1 Diabetes on intensified insulin therapies, and insulin pump therapy. These newly created posts provide you with the opportunity to establish a career within fully comprehensive neonatal service where all the neonatal clinical services can be accessed on site. You will initially work between the Southern General and Yorkhill Hospital neonatal units and the West of Scotland neonatal transport service. The Yorkhill neonatal unit is a combined medical & surgical neonatal unit co-located with the regional children's hospital. A full range of neonatal services and support services are available on site including neonatal surgery, cardiac surgery, renal support and the Scottish neonatal ECMO service. Over 200 newborns per year are currently transferred here due to the specialist services offered by this site. The Southern General neonatal unit currently has 4 ITU cots and 17 special care cots. The next few years will see a major redesign of maternity, neonatal and paediatric services in Glasgow. This process will start at the beginning of 2010 with the transfer of the Queen Mother's Maternity Unit to the Southern General site and the opening of new-built labour ward and a much larger neonatal unit. Subsequently the Children's Hospital will be relocated to new built facilities on this site. Ultimately the new neonatal unit here will become the largest neonatal unit in the country with 34 intensive care and high dependency cots and 26 special care cots providing the full range of neonatal services including neonatal and cardiac surgery and ECMO. The Neonatal Transport Service (West of Scotland) is based in Glasgow and currently undertakes 800 transfers per annum by road and air, including the transfer of critically ill infants for ECMO and neonatal surgery. The West of Scotland Neonatal Transport service has the most experience of air transfers in the UK and has a CAA approved system for delivering iNO in the air. You will work alongside senior neonatal trainees within the department providing support to more junior middle-grade and first on-call colleagues. You will be expected to develop a particular interest or role with the departments, and should be able to demonstrate competence in practical neonatal procedures and neonatal resuscitation, to be familiar with a range of neonatal ventilatory strategies and to demonstrate clinical leadership abilities. You should demonstrate the capability to work in Neonatology at middle-grade level and be interested in a career within our neonatal service.
