1 NOTE FROM THE CHAIR We are into July and still dealing with the Covid-19 Virus. Our Board is working very hard to keep up with the work requests and their daily activities to keep New Horizons running smoothly. I ask you all to be considerate of our Board Members’ homes. Yes, we have all volunteered to work on your behalf, but we are volunteers. Please respect that as volunteers we still live here and deserve our privacy. Calling and coming to our homes should be done only in an extreme emergency. Most issues can be dealt with a work request or a call to our cell phones. Thank you for your cooperation. Our Go2Meeting platform for all the Board Meetings is working well. We have our own roomsfor each meeting so you can sign in more easily. Thanks to the help from Bob Lombardi, Rich Stoffer and Mary Lee Lombardi, most of the golfers have received their lanyards and are out golfing. We all benefit when we work as a team in this community! The pool attendant, Maribel, was a part time employee and her main responsibilities were cleaning the pool furniture, the gym, and the bathrooms. Now she disinfects our employees’ three breakrooms & bathrooms every two hours which is required during the pandemic. She is the attendant at the Sportscenter pool, from 11:30am to 3:15pm Monday - Friday. While Maribel is at the pool, Maria disinfects all the employees’ breakrooms and bathrooms. We must adhere to the mandates of the Health Department regarding our employees and we opened every amenity we can handle without jeopardizing anyone’s health. Unfortunately, the Sportscenter is going to remain closed until we hire and train a new person on the protocols: cleaning all touch points and 6ft. distancing. Our HOA fees fund our daily expenses: Salaries, Roofs, Maintenance, Trash removal, Plumbing repairs, Water bills, Electric, etc., all of which still must be paid. In addition, it is now covering the extra salary for our attendant at the pool. There cannot be a refund for non-use of the Sportscenter, we will open it as soon as possible. Please join committees and get involved to help all our Board members with their departments. CULTURE CORNER

Great news! 3-D Theatricals is back, at least in a virtual way. Check your computers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to find out what they are doing, at 3D & U. Masterpiece Theatre on PBS Sundays has a wealth of British programs. At 8:00 pm is “Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths and Secrets”; 9:00 pm brings you “Grantchester on Masterpiece”, a new mystery series. At 10:00 pm is a rich new family saga which takes place in India: “Beecham House on Masterpiece.”

Also on Sunday evening on PBS in an earlier time slot is an interesting, sometimes spell-binding program hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., “Finding your Roots.”

ANNUAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER INSPECT-REFILL-TEST

On July 20, 2020, all fire extinguishers located throughout New Horizons will be removed from their cabinets for inspection,

refill and testing. Within a few hours they will then be replaced back after the inspection is completed. We will be conducting a study on assuring that all extinguishers are accessible and properly located.

By: Bob Lombardi, Building & Pools Chair.

ADDITIONAL RECYCLING DUMPSTERS

We are currently working on placing Recycling Dumpsters in each area. This will make recycling more accessible to all and help eliminate boxes in the regular trash. We will keep you informed

when we know the date and locations.

This will allow New Horizons Community to be earth friendly, recycling as much of our refuse as possible. Let’s do our part to reduce our garbage landfill footprint and make our world better for years to come.
