COACHING STAFFHead Coach,Mike ShanahanPro Career: Became the 28th coach infranchise history when he replaced JimZorn on January 6, 2010. Mike Shanahanjoined the Redskins after spending 14seasons as head coach of the DenverBroncos (1995-2008). Shanahan led theBroncos to back-to-back Super Bowlchampionships in 1997 and 1998,becoming just the fifth head coach toaccomplish that feat, and is the onlycoach to win seven consecutive postsea-son games in a two-year period. Duringhis NFL career, Shanahan has been a partof teams that have played in nine confer-ence championship games and six SuperBowls. In 31 seasons as a pro and collegecoach, Shanahan’s teams have participat-ed in postseason or bowl games 22times. Under Shanahan’s guidance,Denver set then-NFL records by postingthe most victories in both a two-year (33,1997-98) and three-year (46, 1996-98)span. In 17 years (14 with Denver andthree as offensive coordinator with theSan Francisco 49ers), Shanahan’s offens-es finished number one in the NFL fourtimes, second three times and third twice.Shanahan was an assistant with Denver(1984-87, 1989-1991) and SanFrancisco (1992-94). Returned to Denveras quarterbacks coach on October 6,1989, after posting 8-12 record as theLos Angeles Raiders’ head coach. Careerrecord: 165-124.Background: Shanahan coached atOklahoma (1975-76), Northern Arizona(1977), Eastern Illinois (1978), Minnesota(1979), and Florida (1980-83).Personal: Born in Oak Park, Illinois, onAugust 24, 1952.
