Guess the words using the pictures. Working down each column, can you work out the pictures using the phonic sound for each column. Parents the answers are below the worksheet.

Phonics Task 3 Write ‘are’ and ‘air’ across the top of a piece of paper and make two separate columns. Go and choose a book of your choice and see if you can find any ‘air that’s not fair’ and ‘are care and share’ words.

Phonics Task 3 – Option B

Using some of the words you have found and gathered together over the past two days, lets write some sentences. These can be silly sentences if you want. Are you able to include both sounds in the same sentence? Remember though Year 1, you need a capital letter and a full stop at the beginning and end of your sentence.

Phonics Task 4 – Option AThis can be done together or independently!

Now year 1, let’s play Phonics Bingo! You will need a stopwatch, a piece of paper and a pen!

Step 1:- Choose 9 or 12 words for your bingo grid. Now draw a bingo grid that you are going to

use. Two examples are below:

Step 2:- Fill in your Bingo grid with your chosen words, make sure that they are spelt correctly.

You can do this independently or with your family. Get a member of your family to check your words are spelt correctly with the right sounds. If you are unsure, check at the top of this activity for a reminder!

Step 3:- Get your timer/stopwatch ready!

Step 4:- GO GO GO! - You are going to sound out your words as quick as possible making sure you say the

words correctly. Step 5

- Now ask your parent or a family member to read out the words with the sounds, adding in some different words during this so you are not just listening to the words with the sounds on your bingo grid.

- Tick, circle or cross the word out if you have it. When you have a line or a full house (all of the boxes ticked) shout BINGO!

Phonics Task 4 – Option B Here is a word search for your air and are words.

Phonics Task 5 Here you can play a game. You can play it on your own or with a family member. I have seen a little girl in Year 1 Facetime her Nanny and Grandad whilst doing her school work and getting them involved too, maybe you could try this too? It is a race to the top. Roll the dice and the number it lands on you jump up on place. When you move to a word, you have to sound it out! The first person to reach the top wins.
