My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

I would like to o� cially introduce our new Mass Petition Book. You may have noticed that the past few weeks we have had it brought to the altar during the Presentation of the Gi� s and placed on the altar for the Eucharistic Prayer.

It is a universal law of the Church that we can only accept three intentions for any Mass. � ose are the intentions that are read at the introduction of Mass. � ere is always at least one Mass that is for the intentions of the whole parish family. Even so, with a parish family as large as we there are many times when we would like to o� er a Mass for a particular intention but cannot due to the Mass Intention Book being already full.

Our Mass Petition Book is our answer to that dilemma. We will have the book (the blue binder) open in the vestibule before each Mass so that we can add any special intentions that we would like to bring before the Lord at Mass. � e � nal two prayers in the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass refer to those intentions and to our loved ones who have gone before us. � e Mass Petition Book will then be presented during the Preparation of the Gi� s and placed on the altar for the Eucharistic Prayer. While we cannot read every intention out loud the Lord well knows who is in the book and how ardently we petition on their behalf.

Our Mass Petition Book, then, gives each of us the opportunity to bring a special petition before the Lord and all of us the opportunity to support each other in prayer.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,

Me gustaría presentar o� cialmente nuestro nuevo Libro de Peticiones de Misa. Es posible que haya notado que en las últimas semanas llevamos el libro al altar durante la Presentación de las ofrendas y lo colocamos en el altar para la Oración Eucarística.

Es una ley universal de la Iglesia que sólo podemos aceptar tres intenciones en cada Misa. Esas son las intenciones que se leen en la introducción de la Misa. Siempre hay por lo menos una Misa que es para las intenciones de toda la familia parroquial. Aun así, con una familia parroquial tan grande como nosotros, hay muchas veces que queremos ofrecer una Misa por una intención particular, pero no podemos hacerlo porque el Libro de Intención de Misas ya está lleno.

Nuestro Libro de Peticiones de Misa es nuestra respuesta a ese dilema. Tenemos el Libro (la carpeta azul) abierto en el vestíbulo antes de cada Misa para que podamos agregar cualquier intención especial que quisiéramos traer ante el Señor en la Misa. Las dos oraciones � nales en la Oración de los Fieles en la Misa se re� eren a esas intenciones y a nuestros seres queridos que se han ido antes que nosotros. El Libro de Peticiones de Misa será entonces presentado durante la Preparación de las Ofrendas y colocado en el altar para la Oración Eucarística. Aunque no podemos leer en voz alta todas las intenciones, el Señor sabe bien quién está en el Libro y cuán ardientemente solicitamos en su nombre.

Nuestro Libro de Peticiones de Misas, entonces, nos da a cada uno la oportunidad de traer una petición especial ante el Señor y a todos nosotros la oportunidad de apoyarnos mutuamente en la oración.
