1- Foreword
The EC225 is a medium weight twin engine helicopter (11 tons class) with outstanding performance that belongs to the famous SUPER PUMA / COUGAR family. Over 702 units, with total flight time in excess of 3,775,534 Flight Hours have been delivered to date. The EC225 is a powerful and fast helicopter with long range capabilities. It has a very large useful volume and accommodates various seating arrangements up to 19 passenger crashworthy seats in a spacious cabin and 3 crew members. Technical advancements developed by EUROCOPTER on the EC225 include modular design of the mechanical assemblies, use of composite materials, state of the art avionics, including LCD Multi-Functions Displays, Vehicle Monitoring System and AFCS. The EC225 also incorporates the new generation TURBOMECA Makila 2A1 power plant that provides high performance and maximum safety, thanks to its fully redundant dual channel FADEC system and blade shedding technology. The EC225 can be equipped with a full de-icing system compliant with FAR/JAR 29 regulations, to fly in icing conditions without limitation of severity.

State of the Art Autopilot
The Automatic Flight Control System is a 4-axis dual duplex digital auto-pilot, fully integrated with the avionics and offering full operationality after failure. The complete set of cruise/navigation and approach upper modes is proposed including envelope protection and extended mission effectiveness with SAR modes as an option. The AFCS comprises two (duplex architecture) Automatic Flight Control Computers (AFCCs) which are linked to the MFDs and controlled by two control panels located within close reach of each crew member, and several stick buttons. Each AFCC includes 2 separate processing units (dual architecture) which self-monitor themselves. In case of failure, the standby AFCC takes full control over the actuators and resumes the operation. Noise Reduction
One of the main features on the EC225 is the overall standard of better comfort for the cabin passengers and aircrew. Vibration levels have been significantly reduced, thanks to the new 5-bladed rotor and a state-of-the-art active anti-vibration system. This system uses a computer to generate anti-vibrations, i.e. 180 out of phase with the vibrations detected in the 3 most sensitive areas of the helicopter. Thanks to this system, the EC225 has by far the lowest vibration level of all the helicopters in its class.

4 Recommended Mission Configurations EUROCOPTER proposes different mission configurations for its helicopters. This pre-selected list of optional equipment should be regarded as a recommended minimum equipment list and can be complemented by additional equipment from the optional equipment list in chapter 5. Please take note that there can be incompatibilities between optional equipments. Any modification and/or complement of the proposed mission configuration must be done in with assistance of a EUROCOPTER sales representative. The proposed mission configurations are done by EUROCOPTER using its years of experience in making helicopters and in coordination with different operators of the EC225 around the world. For the EC225 the recommended mission configurations are:
Offshore mission SAR mission
4.1 Recommended Offshore configuration The EC225 Offshore is designed to carry 19 passengers over long distances with the standard reserves. Its built-in power reserve guarantees high performance within the framework of the future regulatory changes. The seat backrests are fitted with a removable head-rest, a 4 point harness and a net for life vest (under the seat). 19 crashworthy seats fitted on a reinforced cabin floor can be proposed as well as other seats configuration. The seats can be removed very quickly, so that a large area of the cabin floor can be used for load transportation. This enables to convert within few minutes any passenger transport helicopter into a cargo transport or into a composite version.

4.2 Recommended SAR Configuration The EC225 SAR standard helicopter is an aircraft configuration built by and with inputs and recommendations of major civil SAR operators, in order to define the most performing helicopter for the SAR missions. The helicopter proposed by EUROCOPTER will be civil certified by European Authorities.
The EC225 SAR, as proposed, is the latest generation aircraft for the endurance, the equipments, safety and mission reliability and capability.
It offers a state-of-the-art and much integrated cockpit avionics suite for both communication and navigation purposes, an AFCS with specific SAR modes considered as a worldwide reference, and includes an integrated SAR mission system including all search and rescue necessary equipments (HD FLIR, search radar, R4AIS, Chelton DF935, digital moving map).
The large EC225 cabin is perfectly suited to accommodate a comprehensive SAR cabin arrangement, including FLIR cabin console and operator seat, hoistman and cabin crew or rescues seats (up to 20) and up to 6 super imposed stretchers.
A typical SAR layout is given as a reference. It comes with:
1 FLIR Console and its associated operator sliding crashworthy seat 1 medical kit which consists of 1 unit of 2 foldable stretchers, which can be easily installed and
removed. 7 wall mounted foldable seat installation 2 operator sliding crashworthy seats Additional 4 wall mounted seats (in place of medical kit when not installed).

The Maintenance Program specifies the intervals between maintenance operations that are recommended by EUROCOPTER, irrespective of whether they are mandatory or not. The program can : either be used as is, or be adapted by each operator to suit his own specific organization, provided he complies with the
maximum intervals. The following table provides an overview of all inspections. Scheduled inspections with shorter time intervals have to be added to those with longer time intervals.

Time Between Overhauls (TBO): The component in question must be removed at each interval that corresponds to the value indicated, in order to undergo the operations in a specialized workshop that will enable it to be put back into service for the next interval. A TBO is granted with a 10 % operational margin, limited at +300 hours. Some subcomponents may have a Service Life limit, rated above the TBO limit. Service Life Limited (SLL): The service life limit is an airworthiness limit. The component in question must be removed from service when it reaches the limit indicated.
