O Come Let Us Adore Him
Among the millions of individuals victimized by the unprecedented rainfall have been people of every race, creed, and ethnic origin. The rain fell on people of virtue and on criminals and scoundrels. It fell on upstanding citizens from south of the border who have lived in Texas for generations, and it fell on more recent immigrants who are here illegally. It fell on Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslim, Sikhs, Hindus, Mormons, Budhists, and atheists. It fell on the rich and the poor and all kinds of people in between. It fell on people whose skin color is black, white, yellow, brown, and red. It fell on democrats, republicans, and independents. It fell on civil rights activists and on skinheads and neo-nazis. On capitalists, communists, socialists, and nihilists. The media and other cynics constantly point out how divided Americans are, but the TV pictures in recent days show people from all these categories coming to the aid of each other. Random acts of kindness have saved many lives while giving hope to those who thought they may have reached the end of the rope. People from all over the country and the world have begun to pour into southeast Texas with boats and buckets and clothes and food—either in person or through the tens of millions of dollars they are contributing. God Bless Texas! God bless Americans of every stripe! There is an envelope attached to this bulletin which you can use to make your contribution to the victims of Hurrican Harvey. This is authorized by Archbishop Coakley and the entire US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the President of which is Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston. The funds raised by Catholics all over the country will go directly to assist the victims through the auspices of the very reliable Catholic Charities USA. In 2013, more than 9 million dollars raised on behalf of tornado victims by CCUSA were channeled into Moore and surrounding areas. In addition, I will propose to our Stewardship & Administration Commission that we direct at least $5000 from our own tithing to come to the direct aid of one of the hardest hit parishes in the Houston area. People came to our aid in 2013, now it’s our turn.

All Christians should pray regularly for all people who suffer from infirmities of every kind. But this list is intended for individuals who are acutely ill or facing surgery until they are back on the mend. Names will ordinarily be removed after 3 weeks, but if the illness persists you can call us and we will keep their names on for an additional three weeks.

PLEASE PRAY FOR
ALPHA PARTICIPANTS
We call upon everyone, especially if you have experienced ALPHA, to provide prayer support during the actual sessions which begin this Wednesday, August 30th from 7—8:30pm.
We encourage you to come to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel during at least part of each session to pray before the presence of The Lord. Others may choose to pray at home. Or, a combination of both. Sign up sheets are on the welcome counter.
Prayer resources are available in the chapel and in the Commons.
A VISION FOR US
We are called to become a truly catholic community in which all are
welcome to become friends with each other, with Christ,
and with the least of His brothers and sisters; becoming
Holy as God is Holy.

LIFE KIDS, EDGE & LIFE TEEN
SUNDAYS FROM 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM
The goal of our Christian formation programs is to help parents who have a sincere desire to raise their children as disciples of Jesus. Our catechists have little more than one hour a week to achieve this objective. But children are in the care of parents for a much greater length of time. We strongly recommend that parents take part in the ALPHA course that continues on Wednesday at 7pm in the Joyce Center. It begins with a meal. Child care is available. If you do so you will begin to feel more confident about being the primary influence on your children’s faith development.
THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES
ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND .
SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING
Wednesday, September 6th
7pm McConnell Room
For many decades now, the Catholic Church has worked diligently to make our churches and schools a SAFE ENVIRONMENT for all children. Providing such a nurturing environment results in our requiring all who work directly with children and young people in our parish—especially catechists, chaperones, and nursery workers. We also highly encourage all parents with children in religious education classes at all levels to become safe environment trained. If you volunteered to help with the children and have not been trained, you need the training first. Youth who turn 18 require training before they can participate in any conferences or mission camps.
Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend, September 15-17, 2017
Married Couples, Does the world seem to be slowly pulling you apart? Finances, jobs, kids, and daily pressures steadily becoming more important than your relationship? Our Marriage Encounter Weekend helped us put our commitments back into perspective, and we regained the loving, passionate relationship we had as newlyweds. See what it can do for you by attending the September 15-17 Weekend at the Catholic Pastoral Center. Contact Rick & Bev Feller at 405-323-9119 or [email protected], or apply at http://meoklahoma.org.

REMEMBER ME
Remember me as I was. Love me as I am. I was strong and able.
I was the one you came to for help, and I delivered. I loved you when you thought no one could.
I am still that person. I am still here for you even if it seems to you that I have
already gone. This disease has taken my memory, but it has not taken my
heart. Composed by a parishioner

22ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME WWW.STANDREWMOORE.COM September 3, 2017
SATURDAY, SEPT. 23rd AT 10AM
This will be an occasion of great splendor for the Catholic Church in Oklahoma. Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, Consecrated Religious, and lay faithful will be gathered to honor Fr. Rother as he is formally declared Blessed. Beatification is the rite that leads to canonization—once a verifiable miracle has occurred through his direct intercession.
