I want to highly recommend the Alpha Course to all people who are looking for a stronger connection with Christ and his Church. The course presents the foundational elements of the Christian faith in a way that facilitates a commitment to intentional discipleship. Please invite Anyone you know who does not presently have a connection with a faith community, as well as people who may have a Catholic sacramental background but who do not feel drawn to the Church. We will start next Wednesday at 6:30 with a great meal, followed by an engaging video presentation and table conversation. Alpha is part of the movement to evangelize those whose ties to God and the Church are not strong. If you know of individuals who may be interested in knowing more about how Catholics live the Christian faith, by all means invite them and offer to come with them.

This fall a number of Rother Men plan to participate in the Retreat In Daily Life based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit Order. Over the course of October to May there are 2 individual meetings per month with a spiritual director and one meeting a week with the entire group. The cost is just $100 per month which represents a valuable investment in spiritual development. We plan to meet Wednesday mornings at 6 am in the youth building. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us at [email protected] or 405.826.3911.
St. Vincent de Paul is changing up our annual Friends of the Poor Walk. This year we are doing a "Friends of the Poor Walk and Soup Supper." Our Walk will be on Sept. 29th at 1pm. at St. Thomas More in Norman. Instead of the silent auction, we will be selling mugs of soup and artistic bowls will be sold. We will also be selling pre-made soup jars.
We will have a table set up in the Commons to take orders.
Orders will be taken until
September 8th.
Orders will be ready to pick up by September 22nd.
A home for the poor is made through God’s goodness and charity. Help all people experience God’s goodness by helping Catholic Charities continue to serve others through the Catholic tradition of service. Donate to Catholic Charities to givetoocc.org or fill out a brochure in church to support the annual appeal as you are able.

ALPHA WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACH OUT TO OUR FRIENDS, OUR
FAMILIES, OUR CO-WORKERS WITH ALPHA
WHO WILL YOU INVITE?
Thank You
Thanks to all who attended My Retirement Party. It was a special afternoon; one I will remember the rest of my life. Thank you for all the Well Wishes, Cards, Gifts, and Prayers. A Special Thank You to Father Jack and the Parish Life Commission for putting together a great party. You all are Awesome. Hope to see all of you at various parish functions.
Bob Bussa Thanks also from me for the great fiesta planned by the parish life commission and executed by many volunteers. I was happy to share the limelight for the annual celebration of my priestly ordination with Bob and Fr. Gabriel. Thank God Bob will remain an active member of the parish and that Fr. Gabriel will likely be able to stay as long as he is needed. What a joy for us. Fr. Jack
Thank You
I wish to express my sincere thanks to all who organized such a big feast to congratulate Bob Bussa upon his retirement, and to celebrate 46th and 4th ordination anniversaries of Fr. Jack and I respectively. Last Sunday you touched the depth of my heart and I felt loved and appreciated. I feel like I belong to the family of Saint Andrew parish. I wish to sincerely thank the Archbishop and Fr. Jack for allowing me to serve at Saint Andrew’s. Thank you for bringing me cards, gifts and sacrificing your time to prepare delicious meals for the feast. I promise you my prayers and I will always be willing to serve you. Keep me in your prayers to remain devoted and committed to the priestly ministry.
Fr. Gabriel, A.J.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH
The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) will be held in Indianapolis Nov 21 – 23. In a distinctly Catholic setting, the National Catholic Youth Conference invites participants to encounter Christ, experience church, and be empowered for discipleship.
The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City delegates (9-12 grade youth and chaperones) will travel by chartered bus departing Wednesday evening Nov. 20th from the Catholic Pastoral Center. They will return Sunday afternoon, Nov 24th.
The cost is $600 but active parishioners can go for $350. Fee includes registration, lodging, transportation, t-shirt, breakfast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Total payment is due by September 11th.
Please contact Mama Dee or Ann Grover to sign up or for more information.
Discipleship & Evangelization
ATTENTION YOUTH!!
Life Night resumes regular hours of
7pm – 9pm on Wednesday Sept. 11th
Youth in grades 6 – 12 are welcome to join in for food, fellowship, tutoring and games in the Youth building. Come find out what’s happening and being planned for the youth of the parish. Be sure you have filled out a consent form so you get messages about upcoming activities. Enrolling your child for the new year beginning in September satisfies this requirement.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Do you have a child who will be attending discipleship formation classes? Do you use the nursery? Do you want to mentor or work with any of the youth of our parish? We are always looking for parents or other volunteers who can help with classes, chaperone youth events or volunteer in the nursery. A principal requirement for any of this is certification through the safe environment program. This certification involves attending a safe environment workshop, completing a volunteer application so a background check can be run and references can be checked, and reading & agreeing to a code of conduct. Even if you have been helping for years, the video and the code of conduct were revised in 2014 and if you haven’t seen the new video or agreed to the updated code of conduct, you will lose your certification. Please plan on attending the next training session on Wednesday, Sep 4 at 6:30 pm in the McConnell room. Call Ann Grover at 799-3334 to register for this training.
DISCIPLESHIP FORMATION CLASSES
WEEKLY SESSIONS TO BEGIN
PRE-FILLED Enrollment forms for those returning students will be available at the Welcome Counter. Please take your child’s form and update them and then return them next Sunday.
Blank registration forms will also be available for children new to our program.

The Fiscal Year is off to a very poor start in terms of contributions. We are $30,000 down from this time a year ago. Is it possible that some members have lowered their support of the parish to pay off their pledges to the One Church, Many Disciples campaign?
