Being surrounded with peers who are having similar issues in their leadership is extremely powerful. You become linked to these people in a unique way which will impact your future as a leader and a person.!

- Rachel Mathis, NB Delegate

The Summit was a transformational experience. It gave me clarity on what type of impact I want to make in the region, helped refine personal and career aspirations and perhaps most importantly - connected me with an incredible network of likeminded peers. I'd recommend the program to anyone looking to take their ideas and ambition to the next level.!

Reflection by Nathalie Arsenault, delegate from PEI:!!After a very intense week at the 21inc Under 40 Summit and Ideas Festival, it took me about a week to digest what had just happened, what I got from it, what it all means.!!21inc is an amazing organization and I feel there is something very special and powerful about the people that are involved and the people it attracts. 21inc aims to cultivate leadership in youth 20 -40 years old so that we can collectively tackle the challenges facing Atlantic Canada in years to come. There are many challenges, but also many opportunities. By working together, as a team and as a strong network, there is nothing that can stop us from achieving great change that is sustainable and positive.!!So there we were, 50 entrepreneurial leaders from all 4 Atlantic Provinces, not fully knowing what we were getting into. I won’t even try to summarize what we learned or experienced, but I will simply share some of my top takeaways from the program. My goal is to share this with you so that perhaps you may be interested to know more and take part in this wonderful organization and movement.!!My top 10 takeaways from the 21inc Under 40 Summit and Ideas Festival:!!1. Atlantic Canada has its issues, but has much more going for it than we think. By focusing on the positive and the assets, we can transform our perception and therefore our region.!!2. I am capable of much more than I think. People believe in me much more than I think.!!3. Deep down, everyone has the same fears, insecurities and concerns in life and in their work. Yet, they do great things and dream big. It is ok to have insecurities yet still push forward towards your dreams.!!4. The power of the group: a true and deep (inexplicable) feeling that together, anything is possible. Everyone is working in their communities on very different issues. I often get overwhelmed by the enormity of the task ahead and the huge challenges. This is normal if we think we are tackling them alone. We are not. Feeling a part of a group, of a network of people making change, makes tackling those challenge not only feel possible, but very realistic and doable. In fact, it is happening as we speak.!!5. Discovering my “why”, my purpose. What gets me up in the morning and is my motivation for everything I do with my life, for the rest of my life. For me, I realized it is to help people and communities identify their strengths and assets, which naturally brings about positive change.!!6. There are many different types of leadership and all are equally important and have an important role. “The first follower transforms the lone nut into a leader”. Just watch this great video of a crazy shirtless dancing guy that demonstrates this and how a movement is created. So awesome!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW8amMCVAJQ!!7. The importance and impact of telling your story. By telling your story in a compelling way, people will start following you and that can help you create a movement.!!8. Start with “Why”. Don’t tell people what you do, tell them why you are doing it. It is much more inspiring. You will also have a much more clear sense of why you get up in the morning and what keeps you motivated. Watch this very compelling Simon Sinek Ted Talk:!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sioZd3AxmnE!!9. Everyone is a leader. Everyone has a role to play in creating the world we want to see, and will be part of history. What story will we be telling our kids and grandkids? What impact will our generation have on shaping our region, society, our world?!!10. We are all in this together, so you may as well be with good friends, have fun, and dream big!!

2 delegates blogged about their experiences here:!!• http://jonduke.ca/2015/12/08/atlantic-canada-under-40-summit/!• http://mathieuarsenault.com/2015/11/12/recap-of-21inc-
