    Conceptual design,technical detail

Working closely with architects at all stages o a

project, Arups lighting specialists provide original

and authentic conceptual design. Uniquely well-

placed to turn vision into reality, they transorm

    creative concepts into detailed technical

    specications.

Arup worked with Louis Vuittons architecture

atelier to develop a ully integrated lighting

concept that orms a seamless part o the

customer experience. Ater a number o

highly successul trials, the lighting concept is

now being rolled out to Louis Vuitton stores

    worldwide.

    Natural lighting

Great lighting design also relies on using naturallight eectively. Arup Lighting is a market leader

in daylighting. Its specialists work with architects

to understand how natural light is distributed

through building geometries, and how it refects

and diverts in dierent colours and materials.

Together, they use this to enhance the buildings

    perormance and aesthetics.

As part o an expansion to the High Museum

o Art in Atlanta, USA, Arup Lighting designed

a series o 1,000 light scoop skylights to lightdisplay areas naturally and without damaging

sensitive artwork. State o the art controls or the

galleries and oces adjust to the level o daylight

    or maximum energy eciency.

Innovative philosophyWith the potential to change how we perceive

architecture and public space, our lighting

teams across the globe are experts in designing

    with smart envelopes, chip-based lighting

equipment and media acades. We explore the

synthesis o light, media and scientic ambition.

Our current project base highlights a number

o world class examples o the application o

Arups trademark innovation. For example,at the Galleria Fashion Mall in Seoul, South

Korea, a media acade wraps around the

building to orm a fuid, dynamic skin. Designed

in collaboration with UNStudio, nearly 5,000

glass discs make up an ocean o colours and

movements. Also, or the rst time globally,

Arup combined LED lighting with photovoltaic

arrays in the GreenPix - Zero Energy Media

Wall, creating a dynamic aade that produces

    twice the energy it consumes.

    Award-winning team

At Arup, lighting is an integral and important

element o intelligent building design, as well

as a specialty eld in its own standing. Working

rom oces in the UK, the Netherlands,

Germany, Russia, Japan, Australia and the

    US, Arup Lightings award-winning team

creates unique and creative answers to clientsparticular business objectives.

In skilled hands, lighting becomes the ourth

dimension o architecture, integrating and enhancingthe other design disciplines. Arup Lighting provides

a comprehensive architectural lighting design service

    to clients around the world.
