reconstructionnorthofRawsonAvenuetothecitylimits(Berkshire).Pedestrianaccessisplanned,as

fundingwillallow,fromSt.Paul’sChurchtoPrincetonDriveonthewestsideandfromthecurrentsidewalk

endpointtoXavierDriveontheeastside.Rightofway(ROW)willberequiredforportionsofthewalkway

onthewestsideof51st.NoROWisneededontheeast.Detailedplansareintheworksforconstruction,

whichconstructionisexpectedtobecompletedbySeptember.Nodesignhasbeenfinalized,butturnlanes

andcurbandgutterareexpectedtosomedegreewithinthedesign.

VoterID:VoterIDbecamelawJune2011.AsnearasIcandetermine,andinbrief,thenewrulesforvoting

atthepollsinclude:

OnElectionDay,votersmustshowoneofeighttypesofphotoID–aWisconsinDriversLicense,aStateID,

militaryID,orpassport.ThesephotoIDsarevalidprovidedtheydidnotexpirepriortoNovember2010.The

otherfouracceptableIDsare‐aWisconsinDriversLicenseorStateID receiptfromtheDMV,afederally

recognizedWisconsinIndianTribalID,aWisconsinaccrediteduniversityorcollegephotoIDwithproofof

enrollment,oracertificateofnaturalization,andprovidedthesehavenotexpired.Anotherchangeisthat

votersmustnowsignthepollbooknexttotheirnamebeforegettinghandedaballot.Also,afterreceiving

yourballot,pleaseverifyithastwopollworkers’initialsatthebottom.

Council,andwhileSteveandIhavedisagreedonissues,hecertainlyisdedicatedandpassionateabouthiswork.

FranklinSchoolDistrictElection‐ ResidentsresidingintheFranklinSchoolDistrictwillhaveachoicetovote

fortwooutofsixcandidatesfortheFranklinSchoolBoard.Note:TheSchoolBoardisagovernmental

body,whichisseparatefromthedutiesandlawsundertheCity’saldermanicandmayoralpositions.

GarbageFee–Newtoyourtaxbill,youmayormaynothavenoticed,wastheseparategarbagefee.I

votedagainstthisfeebecauseIvieweditasatrashywaytoraisetaxeswithoutyourknowledge.Placing

thisasaseparatefeethenaddingthe$104backintoyourtaxtotalgivestheappearanceofadecreasein

taxesandthatnothingchanged.Inreality,whatwaspreviouslyincludedinyourtaxbillisnowaseparate

fee.Italsodecreasesaccountabilityforfuturegarbageandrecyclingcontractratesbecauseitisnolonger

partofthebudgetcostsundertheresponsibilityoftheCouncil.
