– Open roof with convertible top operating switch until it is justbefore the position shown.

– Place Hinge Supports -VAS 6365- in lowest position -2-.

– Place the hinge supports -VAS 6365- in the mounting hole inthe main hinge -1- and rotate the base -4- so that it is not posi‐tioned in the opening in the longitudinal.

– Switch the ignition off. The roof lowers in stages until the sup‐ports are resting on the longitudinal member.

– Remove glass panel with slotted guide rail parallel out of rearguide rails -b arrows-. Raise front edge of glass panel slightly-arrow a-.

Installing

Note

♦ Make sure all components such the slider and bracket are installed.♦ The sliders -6- in the slotted guide rail -8- are coated in rubber up to the slider -11-.♦ The washer -9- must fit exactly into the openings. The glass panel will make noises if the guiding edge is

damaged.♦ The lower brace -12- faces downward, as illustrated.

– Guide glass panel guide rails into rear guide rails.

Glass panel must be guided horizontally -a arrows- and parallelwhen doing this.

– Move roof pillar far enough toward outside -b arrows- so thatguide rail slider does not touch the front guide rails.

– Further installation is performed in the reverse order of re‐moval.

– Place sunroof motor -2- in mount on guide tube -4-.

– Install 3 bolts 3-3-, tightening specification 4.5 Nm.

– Crank glass panel back as far as “stop” using emergency op‐eration.

– Position sliding blocks on applied markings and tightenscrews. Tightening specification: 9.5 Nm.

– Close the CSC roof and remove the hinge supports -VAS6365- .

– Install the intermediate shaft and the sunroof motor.

– Install the tensioned headliner and loosened tensioning cable.

– Adapt sunroof motor.

– Remove screws -3- and remove sunroof motor -2- from mount-4-.

Installing

Note

♦ The sunroof motor is equipped with a closing force limit. If the roof runs into an obstacle during the closingprocedure, the motor stops and the glass panel moves in the opposite direction.

♦ If the glass panel is closed a second time with the switch, it runs with increased closing force. If the glasspanel still runs into an obstacle, it runs once again in the opposite direction.

♦ If the glass panel is closed a third time using the switch, it runs without a closing force limit.♦ All screws are microencapsulated and must always be replaced.

– Place sunroof motor -2- on mount -4- and tighten screws -3-.Tightening specification: 4.5 Nm.

Both a re-installed sunroof motor and a new sunroof motor mustalways be adapted.

♦ Pull switch, glass panel -1- closes.

♦ Pull switch a second time, glass panel closes with increasedclosing force.

♦ Pull switch a third time, glass panel closes without closingforce limit.

In this way, the sunroof motor is adapted and learns the zero po‐sition.

– Install tensioned headliner rail. Refer to⇒ “2.6.14 Tensioned Headliner Rail, Installing”, page 262 .

– Install the tensioned headliner. Refer to⇒ “2.6.7 Tensioned Headliner, Installing”, page 251 .

– Open glass panel -1- completely.

– Remove seal -3- from mount in guide rails -2-.

Installing

– For easier installation, coat seal with soapy water.

– Carefully press seal -3- into guide rail mount -2-.

Note

After removing roof pillar trim, ensure trim is not damaged by the following roof movement.

– Loosen the end eyes -3 and 6- on tensioning bands-2 and 4- on the outside of the main hinge. Refer to⇒ “2.6.12 Routing Tensioning Bands 4 and 5”, page 260 . (asshown in illustration N61-10146)

– Remove roof pillar trim without loosening tensioning bands.Refer to ⇒ “2.6.15 Roof Pillar Trim”, page 263 .

– Remove screws -4- on eyes -3- and allow roof pillar trim -1- tohang down on tensioning bands -2-.

– Open glass panel completely.

– Insert Guide Rail Assembly Gauge -VAS 6370- in upper guidein guide rail -4-, slit on knurled screw -3- must be horizontal.

– Obtain dimensions Guide Rail Assembly Gauge -VAS 6370-on front -a- and rear -b- of front guide rails and note thesedimensions.

– To measure, slide the gauge open as far as the front -arrow-and rear stops -arrow-.

– Remove the gauges again.

– Place base -2- of Side Member Support -VAS 6367- on seatbelt guide rail -1- -arrow a-.

– Press the support together and allow the rectangular formationon the head -3- on the head to position itself on the guide rearguide rail -4- through the force of the spring-arrow b-.

– Tighten screws -5-.

– Measure the dimension between the head -3- and the screw-5- and note it down.

– Remove the support again.

– Remove water drain from front guide rails. The water drainmay be bonded to the guide rail.

– Install the guide rail -1- onto the guide -arrow a-.

– Turn the guide rail until the clip audibly latches into the roofpillar -arrow b-.

– Align the guide rail inside the roof pillar.

– Place base -2- of Side Member Support -VAS 6367- on seatbelt guide rail -1- -arrow a-.

– Press the support together and allow the rectangular formationon the head -3- on the head to position itself on the guide rearguide rail -4- through the force of the spring-arrow b-.

– Adjust the noted dimension.

– Tighten screws -5-.

– Check rear dimension -b- of guide rails -4- with Guide Rail As‐sembly Gauge -VAS 6370- .

– Adjust guide rails according to front dimension -a- that wasnoted using Guide Rail Assembly Gauge -VAS 6370- . Tightenthe screw -5-.

– Secure the gauge guide -1- in the guide rails -4-. Rotateknurled screw -3- so slit is vertical. Tighten knurled screw -2-.

All screws are microencapsulated and must always be replaced.

– Tighten the bolts -3, 4, 5 and 6-. Tightening specification: 9.5Nm.

♦ When the luggage compartment trim is installed, make sure the support is not positioned in the opening onthe longitudinal member.

♦ To support roof, both sides of luggage compartment trim should be either removed or installed.♦ The bypass screw on the hydraulic pump must be opened after the repair position has been reached on

vehicle from May 2007. This prevents damaging the hydraulic system.

– Open roof with convertible top operating switch until it is justbefore the position shown.

– Place hinge supports -VAS 6365- in lowest position -2-.

– Place the hinge supports -VAS 6365- in the mounting hole inthe main hinge -1- and rotate the base -4- so that it is not posi‐tioned in the opening in the longitudinal.

– Switch the ignition off. The roof lowers in stages until the sup‐ports are resting on the longitudinal member.

– Remove the seal -2- in the glass panel area.

The guide rail must be free of dirt and grease.

– Install the water guide foil -1-.

The water guide foil must seal all around edges of front guide rail-arrows-.

– Press a Butyl Cord -D 450 273 A2- -3- formed into a ball onend of guide rail firmly onto water guide foil -1-.

– Press a second Butyl Cord -D 450 273 A2- formed into a ballfirmly onto water guide foil at a distance of 85 mm-dimension a- to first.

– Check for correct seating of both butyl cords on water guidefoil. No gap should be visible between both materials. Butylcord should not be formed to edge of guide rail.

– Secure seal -2- on roof pillar.

– Remove supports and close roof.

– Install roof pillar trim.
