Media City is Windsor / Detroit's annual

international festival for film, video and media art. In 201 4

we will celebrate our 20th anniversary edition. Each year the

festival attracts filmmakers, artists and audience members

from across North America and around the globe to

participate in a week-long celebration featuring screenings,

workshops, parties, lectures, exhibitions, performances, and

other special events.

Since 1 994, Media CIty has received more than 33,000 filmentries from over 1 05 different nations worldwide. We havehosted hundreds of filmmakers and guests from countriesincluding Russia, Austria, England, Ecuador, France, Argentina,

Japan, Palestine, Korea, Sweden, Austra l ia , Senegal , Spain,

Belgium and many more.

Films premiered at Media City have had subsequent

screenings at the Cannes, Toronto, New York, Rotterdam,

and Sundance Film Festivals; the Musuem of Modern Art and

the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York) , Havard Film

Archive, the Tate Modern (London) and the Centre George

Pompidou (Paris) . Media City has also introduced dozens of

emerging filmmakers and artists to the world stage, many

of whom have gone on to win major awards including the

Palme d'Or at Cannes and other prestigious accolades.

Locally, Media City has cultivated a dedicated community

of volunteers and partners at the grass-roots and institutional

level on both sides of the border. We have collaborated with

organizations such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, University of

Windsor, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, The Art

Gallery of Windsor, Imagination Station and many others.

Media City's 20th anniversary will be our biggest edition yet.

Your contribution ensures the continued vibrancy of the

Windsor / Detroit cultural landscape, supporting a locally

produced event with international significance. .

Why sponsor Media City Film Festival?

Media City is a homegrown initiative, with strong roots in Windsor and Detroit.

We seek partnerships with organizations that care passionately about engaging

communities and advancing the arts locally. Throughout Media City's 20-year history

the festival has collaborated with numerous partners who have helped ensure that

we continue to put the Windsor/ Detroit region on the cultural world map.

Media City also makes every effort to ensure our events are accessible to the widest

possible audience. We do this by:

• Training hundreds of volunteers and providing each with free access to our events

• Offering a free cross-border film shuttle to Detroit residents each day of the festival

• Keeping our ticket pricess deliberately low, all events are Pay What You Like

• Providing free hands-on film workshops through our Mobile Frames residency series

The typical Media City audience member is aged 24-50, university educated and

prioritizes discretionary income for culture and entertainment, travel, tourism and

restaurant dining.
