The museum, located in the Joe A. Adams Professional Building on the property once owned by Ty Cobb’s family in his hometown of Royston, offers an unprecedented opportunity for fans to relive baseball history by viewing artifacts, original works of art and visual accounts of the brilliant, articulate man known as the famed “Georgia Peach.”

You will travel back in time to the early 1900s, a time when baseball was what Cobb called “something like a war.” A moving tribute, narrated by Georgia legend Larry Munson, features rare action footage and interviews, including thoughts

from Atlanta Braves standout Chipper Jones and ESPN baseball analyst Peter Gammons.

The Cobb Theater features stadium-styled seating nestled within a beautiful mural collage. Rare photographs and other pieces of artwork also tell the compelling story of how Cobb rose to the pinnacle of his sport not through exceptional talent, but through sheer will and a relentless determination to be the best.

The Cobb Collection spans the life of the man who holds more significant baseball records than anyone in the history of our national pastime. At .367, Cobb still holds baseball’s highest career batting average, while registering a record 12 batting titles in a span of 13 seasons.

Cobb’s complex personality earned him the reputation as baseball’s fiercest competitor, and his competitive zeal carried over to his life outside of baseball, making him a multimillionaire. But few know the story of how Cobb used his wealth to establish the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, Georgia, which was considered the crown jewel of an integrated rural healthcare system for sixty years and served thousands of patients annually throughout northeast Georgia.

He also earmarked one-quarter of his significant income to set up the Cobb Scholarship Fund, which now helps send more than 300 Georgians to college each year.

“There is only one Cobb, and I shall always cherish the fact that it has been my privilege to have played 20 years along with him, and to have his feats and deeds as an ideal to aspire to emulate.”

–Eddie Collins, Philadelphia Athletics

“He has contributed to the happiness of millions of people. He has the satisfaction of knowing that he has done more for baseball than any other man that ever adopted it as a profession.”

–Frank J. Navin, Detroit Tigers Owner

“For years Cobb has been the hitting marvel of baseball. He surprises the team and double-crosses the enemy so frequently that he is almost a team in himself.”

–Hugh Jennings, Manager of Detroit Tigers
