How to reach the United Nations building in Vienna

From / to the airport
Bus connections: To arrive from the Airport Vienna (“Flughafen Wien”) at the Vienna International Centre (“Wien Kaisermühlen VIC”) and the conference hotel Arcotel Kaiserwasser**** (Wagramer Straße 8, 1220 Wien), it is best to take a bus (Postbus 1183) that circulates every hour. Tickets are bought directly in the bus. A one-way-ticket is €8 and a return ticket is €13. Duration: 40 minutes. Vienna Airport Lines (Postbus) connect the Vienna Airport with the main Vienna transport hubs. The three Vienna Airport Lines routes serve all of Vienna's underground railway lines and also "Wien West" and "Wien Meidling" railway stations. Buses to the city centre (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz) run 24 hours a day, with a journey time of just 20 minutes.
Rail connections: The suburban railway (S-Bahn) is an economical way of travelling between Vienna city center and the airport. With the line S7 it takes 25 minutes to reach “Wien Mitte” (city centre). A ticket costs from €4.40 (to/from Vienna, including travel on entire Vienna public transport network). Ticket machines can be found on the platforms at the airport and in the centre of Vienna. Detailed timetables can be found at www.oebb.at.
In addition, there is a City Airport Train (CAT). The CAT takes 16 minutes nonstop to get from central Vienna (“Wien Mitte”) to the airport and vice versa. The City Airport Train operates daily from 05.36 a.m. to 23.36 p.m. The price of a single ticket is €12.
From / to the main railway stations
The fastest way from Vienna's main railway station “Haupbahnhof” (with trains arriving from Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic etc.) is using the underground line U1. Enter the U1 at the
main station's stop “Südtirolerplatz/Hauptbahnhof” and exit at the stop “Kaisermühlen/Vienna International Centre”.
Metro
Participants arriving by metro, take the U1 line and get off at the stop “Kaisermühlen/Vienna International Centre” stop. Please then follow the signs marked “Vienna International Centre”. Wheelchair users are kindly requested to use the exit “Schüttaustrasse” (elevator) and then follow the signs to “Vienna International Centre”. Taxi
Participants arriving at the Vienna International Centre by taxi are advised to get off in the side lane (Nebenfahrbahn) of Wagramer Strasse, and proceed to Gate 1. The price of a taxi to the airport will be between 30 and 35 €m if you pre-order them.

Private cars
There are no parking facilities for conference participants, except for Permanent Mission delegates in possession of a valid VIC parking permit (Gate 2 is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Gate 4 is open 24 hours). Other participants have either to park their car on Wagramer Strasse (normally, some space is available on the other side of the street, but it is a short-term parking zone [to be paid with prepaid tickets that are available in stores and tobacconists).
Parking garages
There are several parking garages in walking distance (www.parkeninwien.at/), with a price range of 2,80 to 3,50 euros per hour. For cheaper parking we recommend using one of the park-and-ride facilities that are located next to U1 or other U-lines (www.parkandride.at/Standorte.html).
Accessible transportation services for participants with mobility problems / visual impairment
If you are a participant with mobility problems and/or visual impairment, please indicate your need for accessible transport services during your registration online. In case you have not done so and you need such assistance, please contact Ms Eva Maikisch at: [email protected]
This service will pick those participants up at the airport/railway station and bring them to their hotels, provide transportation between their hotel to the conference centre VIC (to Gate 1, where registration for the conference will take place) and back to the airport/railway station. How to get to UniCredit Center Am Kaiserwasser

By foot from UNOV/VIC:
When exiting the UNOV/VIC building, turn left on the Wagramer Strasse and cross the street. Turn into the third street on your right, which is the Eiswerkstrasse. It takes about ten minutes by foot, according to Google Maps.
By car:
Coming from the city center / Praterstern you drive down Wagramer Strasse and turn right into Eiswerkstrasse after the Vienna International Center. This will take you straight to the entrance to the complex. To the right of the entrance is the underground garage with 52 parking spaces. You will find free parking near Ernst-Sadil-Platz or you can continue to the parking lot of the Gänsehäufel.
By public transport:
Take the U1 underground line to “Alte Donau”. Upon leaving the underground station turn left and walk towards Wagramer Strasse, which you cross. Continue straight on, following Fischerstrand and the road, and then down Fischerweg. This will bring you to Eiswerkstrasse, where you keep left for the entrance to the complex. Taking part in the Zero Project Conference 2015
Access to the United Nations Office in Vienna
In order to be granted access to the United Nations venue, all participants (including accompanying staff and relatives) are required to fill out the Zero Project Conference application form. You have received the link to that form via email on Wednesday 21st February 2015. If you have not received this email, please contact Ms Doris Neuwirth at: [email protected]
The deadline for receipt of the completed registration form is 17:00 CET on Friday, 13 February 2015. Thereafter the list of registered participants will be sent to UNOV by us. Please be aware that shortly before the conference, UNOV will send an email to all registered participants directly with a link to upload a picture to be inserted in the personal UN access badge. If you have not received this email by Monday, 23 February 2015, please contact Ms Doris Neuwirth.
In order to receive your physical UN badge, every participant (including personal assistants, staff, children and other relatives, etc.) has to go to Gate 1, passing the security check and then the registration process of the United Nations Office in Vienna. You are able to collect your UN badge from Wednesday, 25th February 2015. Gate 1 will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on Feb. 25 and from 8 am to 4 pm on Feb. 26 & 27. Please bring your passport or identification document along. Please note that this process can take quite some time (about 30-45 minutes). If you have no UN badge by Thursday 26th February 2015, it is recommendable to arrive at 8am on that day, seen the large amount of participants.
The UN badge grants you access to the whole premises of the United Nations Office in Vienna for the full three days of the Zero Project Conference, from 25th to 27th February 2015. Please note that wearing the badge is obligatory at all times. If you lose your badge, please contact the UN registration desk immediately.
Registration for the Zero Project Conference 2015
Upon arrival, all conference participants are requested to go straight to the Zero Project welcome desk, which is situated at the entrance of the M-Building. You will receive your Zero Project Conference 2015 badge and welcome bag, including the report, programme, speakers list, conference participants list as well as practical information.
Showroom
If you are bringing materials for the Showroom, please proceed after your registration right to the Showroom on the first floor.
All materials you have sent in for the showroom will be made available at the showroom on the first floor.
Orientation at the Conference Venue
After passing through the Main Entrance and the Security Check, the Building M will be located on the left side. You can reach this building by walking between Buildings A and B and following the path.
The Info Point/Welcome Desk, as well as the Speakers’ Corner, will be located directly on the left when you enter the M Building. The Wardrobe can be found on your left side after taking a turn right. A bit further on the same path two of the Workshop Rooms can be found.
Accessible restrooms are in front of the entrance. If you walk past them you will find the coffee corner and further down the hall you will find Accessible Elevators. The Internet Corner is to be found on the opposite side of the entrance in the back.
When you enter the first floor by using the stairs, you will find a showroom directly on your right side. A Second showroom is located in the back on the right side. Next to the second showroom there is a coffee corner. The two workshop rooms, as well as the plenary room, are located in the centre of the floor. Two accessible restrooms are to be found in front of the workshop rooms.

Accessible restrooms are situated on the ground floor as well as two others on the first floor.
Wardrobes and Store Room
A Wardrobe will be provided and is situated on the ground floor.
Showroom
There are two showrooms, both located on the first floor, to distribute materials.
Catering services
In addition to the catering provided directly for the Zero Project Conference, which will be served on the ground floor, a coffee bar will be open during the conference. Snacks and beverages will be available from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. A cafeteria, a restaurant and a bar are located in Building F, on the entrance level.
Internet corner, WLAN, Email
WLAN is available for all participants of the Conference within the M-Building.
An Internet corner with standard software and Internet access is located on the ground floor of the M-building.

Information bag at the Zero Project Conference
An information package is available for every participant at the welcome desk. It includes the new Zero Project Report, the Speaker`s List, List of Participants and the Conference Programme. Presentations
Most presentations of speakers at the Zero Project Conference 2015 will be available online from Feb 25.
Speakers’ corner
A “speakers’ corner” will be located next to the Welcome Desk at the M-Building. An assistant will be available at all times. We kindly invite all speakers to turn to the assistant to upload their presentation or to make any adjustments to their presentation.
Simultaneous translation
The official language of the Zero Project Conference is English. Simultaneous translation English - German and vice versa will be available throughout the conference in the plenary hall and for some other plenaries and breakout sessions. Please check out the official programme for details. No other languages are available.
Captioning (Subtitling)
Captioning (subtitling) in English of the spoken word will be available throughout the conference in every session. Sign language
International sign language interpretation will be available throughout the conference in the plenary hall. Additional English and international sign language will be available on request. Participants are requested to use the registration form to define their needs for assistance.
Other Information on the United Nations Office/Vienna International Centre
Banks
Bank Austria is located on the first floor of Building C of the Vienna International Centre and provides full banking services. The office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Postal services
A post office on the first floor of Building C (ext. 4986) provides all regular postal services, including fax and telephone services, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cash transactions are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Long distance calls can only be made from the post office.
Medical services
Medical attention is available from the clinic operated by the Joint Medical Services located at the VIC, Building F, 7th floor, extension 22224 and, for emergencies, 22222. The clinic is open from 8.30 a.m. to 12.00 and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For emergency assistance at other times, please contact the UNSSS Security Operations Centre, Room F0E18, ext. 3903 or 3911. Emergencies can also be reported through ext. 99.
Security
During the Zero Project Conference, the United Nations Security and Safety Service will be responsible for security inside the Vienna International Centre. Specific requests. Telephone +43-1-26060 ext. 3901, Fax +43-1-260605834, e-mail: [email protected]. For security reasons, conference participants are requested not to leave any luggage/briefcase/laptops unattended.
Lost and found
Inquiries for any items that are reported lost within the VIC premises should be made at the UNSSS Security Operations Centre, Room F0E18 (opposite the VIC Cafeteria), extensions 3903 or 3911.
Emergency reporting
All emergencies within the VIC should be reported directly through ext. 99.
In case of an evacuation
In case of an evacuation, all participants are requested to leave the M-Building immediately. Conference participants from the 1st floor will be shown the way out over staircases. Wheelchair users and their assistants will be directed towards a marked exit and the elevator room.
