Zacchaeus Meets JesusBased on Luke 19:110

Print out the ollowing pages. Cover the ront o the annelgraph pieces with clear contact paper. Cut out the pieces. Glue small pieceso sandpaper or elt on the back o each piece, so they will stick to a annel board. Use these annelgraph pieces to tell the story oZacchaeus as told in Luke 19:110, or read the story included at the end o this activity.

Jesus was on His way to the city o Jericho when He passed bya place where Zacchaeus, a very short man, lived. Zacchaeuswas a tax collector and very rich. Nobody liked him because hetook peoples hard-earned money.

Zacchaeus had heard about Jesus and wanted to see Jesus,but because he was so short, he couldnt see over the crowd.Zacchaeus had an idea!

He ran down the road and climbed up into a sycamore tree.He was sure hed be able to see Jesus passing on the roadrom the tree.

As Jesus walked with His disciples, many people crowdedaround to see Him. Zacchaeus had the best view o all becausehe was up in a tree!

When Jesus walked under the tree, He looked up and calledout to Zacchaeus. Come down, Zacchaeus! Jesus said. Iwant to go to your house.

Zacchaeus was very happy that Jesus wanted to visit him. Hejumped down rom the tree and ran ahead to welcome Jesusto his home.

Some people were angry that Jesus would want to spendtime with a man like Zacchaeus. They didnt like Zacchaeusand were upset that he took more money than he should rompeople when he collected taxes.

Zacchaeus was sorry or the bad things he had done. And atertalking with Jesus, he wanted to right his wrongs. I am sorry,he told Jesus. I will now give hal o all my possessions to thepoor and repay anyone I have wrongully taken money rom.

Jesus was pleased with Zacchaeuss choice to do what wasright. Today, Jesus said, salvation has come to this house.

Zacchaeus was glad to fnd orgiveness and happiness onceagain. By doing what was right, he made many new riends.
