PROGRAMBACKGROUND

With the demand for conservationdollars becoming more and morecompetitive, WHC has beenlooking for a way to help smallerorganizations access the fundingthat they need to make adifference in conservation withintheir local or regional community.

We are pleased to be continuingonto the second year of this 3-year program, which will invest upto $50K/year in grassroots effortsto connect Canadians with natureand deliver conservationachievements on-the-ground.

The CCAP is seeking projects thatare innovative, collaborative andengaging.

To maximize the time spentdelivering your projects andmaking contributionachievements, this program hasbeen designed to minimize theadministrative burden. Lesstime filling out paperwork, moretime out there making adifference.

WHCBACKGROUND Wildlife Habitat Canada is a national, not-

for-profit, non-governmental, charitableconservation organization that was

established in 1984.

WHC's Conservation Grant Programs:Habitat Conservation Stamp Initiative: geared to projects related to habitatconservation, restoration and/or enhancement or stewardship, with a focus onwetlands, waterfowl and migratory game birds.

Land Trusts Conservation Fund (Natural Heritage Conservation Program):designed to contribute to the achievement of the terrestrial and inland waterelements of Target 1 of Canada’s 2020 Biodiversity Goals and Targets as wellas to contribute to the protection of habitat for the recovery of Species at RiskAct (SARA).

Community Conservation Action program: focuses on local and regionalstewardship and conservation efforts to connect Canadians with nature, engageyouth in conservation and provide educational conservation programming.

APPLICANTELIGIBILITY

Canadian Residents;Small(er) Canadian Organizations*; Research, academic and educational institutions;Indigenous organizations, associations, and community managementboards;Local organizations such as community associations and groups,seniors’ and youth groups, and service clubs;

Eligible Recipients of the Grant Program are:

Ineligible Recipients of the Grant Program include but are not limited to:

International organizations or individuals;For-profit organizationsFederal level organizations or individuals: Governmentemployees, departments, agencies, and crown corporations.

*Small(er) Organizations to this program means local level, independent groups thatare looking for funding opportunities to support new or innovative small-scale or pilot

project programs.

PROJECTELIGIBILITY

Ineligible Expenses - CCAP funds cannot be used:

As a contribution to an endowment fundFor expenditures directly related to the acquisition of land or an interest in land, including a lease, conservation easement or conservationcovenant.Requests for small amounts to fund a larger-scale project

Examples: salaries, tuition or course fees, indirect/overhead

Additional Considerations:

The involvement of multiple partners (collaboration)Includes a well-thought out project plan

Project activities are concrete and sustainable, with measurable resultsLong term benefits of the projectInnovative, new approachesParticipation engagement, including follow up evaluationsProject evaluation (clear ways you'll define success of the project)

Other requirements taken into account by WHC when reviewing grant fundingapplications include:

Must be carried out between April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023. If approved, WHC grantfunds must be spent within the 2022-2023 fiscal year.Must have clear milestones & deliverables in both years and a minimum of 1:1 match.Projects are required to be related to project categories listed within this document.Within the Application, self-identify and demonstrate clearly how your organization orproject will be providing improvements to diversity, equity and inclusion within thecommunity of Canada.

FUNDINGREQUIREMENTS

Applicants must ensure that project implementation complies with all relevantlegislation, regulations, licenses, permits, etc.

Funding request between $1,000 and $10,000.

Project delivery time-frame: April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023.

Project must demonstrate a minimum 1:1 funding match ratio*

Invasive Alien Species: Please note at this time, this program will not acceptongoing maintenance projects associated with IAS projects.

(i.e., WHC contributions cannot exceed 50% of the Project Revenue). *Funding from Government of Canada programs cannot be considered as match.

Application forms must be completed and submitted online. First time applicants will be prompted to create a username and password. SELECTIONPROCESS

Grant applications submitted by the October 11, 2021 deadline will be reviewed byWildlife Habitat Canada Staff. Staff will select projects to receive funding, following areview of the suite of applications received. Applications will be reviewed forcompleteness and considered based on well thought out and clear objectives, howwell the project meets program criteria, demonstration of solid plans for evaluatingproject success, and innovative and collaborative elements.

Applicants will be contacted about the results of their applications prior to April 2022.It is anticipated that award notifications will be provided by February 2022.

Proponents with projects approved for funding under WHC's Community ConservationAction Program will receive a funding agreement for signature. WHC funding issubject to projects meeting the conditions and requirements set out in the FundingAgreement.
