    WELCOME

As we continually adjust to the new normal, winter activities in 2021 will look a little different this year. We are excited to present our Winter Guide; the guide contains information about Winter Fundays’ virtual programming and other COVID- safe winter activities to take part in over the next few months.

The virtual programming for Winter FunDays will be sure to get you outside and enjoy all that winter has to offer with self-guided activities. Staying active and being creative is a great and safe way to pass the time. The Culture and Events team has curated a lineup of activities alongside Science North, Willow Springs Creative Centre, Thunder Bay Museum and others to create six weeks of fun activities to enjoy safely.

Mark your calendars as you will want to make sure to include these activities in your winter plans. View this guide for essential information on virtual programming, a map of the outdoor skating rinks and ponds around the city, and printable colouring sheets.

Visit www.thunderbay.ca/events for more details or for the most up to date information follow us on Facebook at Thunder Bay Culture & Events.

Wishing everyone a safe and fun winter!

In keeping with Provincial regulations, effective Dec. 26, 2020, Thunder Bay's outdoor rinks will remain open with the following changes:

    • Heated change rooms will be locked and unavailable for skate changing.

    • Washroom facilities in the change rooms will be available for use when the rink attendant is present in the change room. Those needing to use the washroom can knock on the door to gain access.

    • Skaters using the outdoor rinks must maintain a separation of at least two metres from other users (excluding members of the same household).

    • Team activities on outdoor rinks or any activities where people may come within two metres of each other are prohibited during the lockdown.

Outdoor skating rinks are weather dependent and are typically open from mid-December through mid-March. Ice conditions change with the weather and rinks may close without notice. Rinks may be used during unsupervised/closed hours, at the user's discretion.
