Chapter 1 Product profile
1.1 General 1.1.1 About Antaeus Machinery
The name Antaeus” comes from the ancient Greek god of the earth. We use this name
because our company’s core proposition is to design, rent, sell, and service deep foundation
construction equipment.
Antaeus Foundation Equipment LLC, formed in June of 2016, is a deep foundation
construction equipment manufacturing company specializing in vibratory pile driver/extractors
and related products. We design and manufacture, rent, sell, and service deep foundation
equipment of all makes and sizes.
John L. White, the CEO, started his career in the deep foundation construction business in
1977 in Seattle At PACO (Pacific American Commercial Company). Fresh out of the US
Marines, John traveled the Western half of the US and Canada, servicing and leasing pile
driving equipment manufactured by MKT, Vulcan and Delmag.
John served as President of APE from 1990 until his departure in June of 2012. During this
time at APE, John received 40 patents related to pile driving and deep foundation machines.
John also set the world’s record for installing the largest pile. John built APE into the world’s
largest pile driving equipment manufacturing company and his inventions revolutionized the
industry. John sold his shares of APE in 2012.
John continued to invent pile driving machines and longed to return to inventing new pile
driving machines. John’s latest inventions are shocking the industry, including his new
“updrive” hydraulic power units and his multi-staged suppressor system.
In June of 2016 John returned to the deep foundation industry by launched Antaeus. His new
machines are quickly becoming the number one choice in pile driving equipment. Antaeus has
a mission. Our goal is to buy, manufacture, rent, sell, lease and service state of the art pile
driving machines for the purpose of providing a competitive edge to our customers.
We are gods of pile driving, we are Antaeus Foundation Equipment.

(1) With high frequency this hammer will transmit the high vibration force to the pile. The soil structure will change with the high vibration causing soil liquidation. The frictional force between the pile and the soil will be reduced and pile will sink. With the downward pressure from excavator combined with the pile weight the pile will sink into the soil.
(2) When extracting piles, the pile can be pulled or extracted by the up-pulling force from excavator during vibration.
(3) The driveability of the pile is based by many factors such as soil layers, soil type, water content, pile type, rocks, and so on.
1.6 Working Principles and application
Antaeus high frequency hydraulic pile driving machine adopts vibration driving and extracting. This hamm is very suitable for projects with short piles or medium length piles such as photovoltaic, city planning, bridge, cofferdam, building foundation projects.
Working principles:(1) There are eccentric weights inside the machine, spun by motor,
which rotate with high speed and produce eccentric force. Eccentric force is suppressed by rubber elastomers which isolate vibration from entering the excavator and keeping it in the pile.
(2) Eccentric force is in proportion to the eccentric moment and the square of the speed of vibrations measured as vpm. Antaeus eccentrics are have been in constant development over 30 years resulting in an efficient and durable unique design.
Construction principles:

(6) Check the lubrication level in gearbox
P19
When the size is less than 4mm, please change the jaw.
4.2Driving piles and extracting:(1) Be familiar with the jobsite, sheet pile arrangement, try to reduce the the need to move the excavator as much as possible.(2) Start the excavator, adjust the excavator and side grip vibro. Move the pile to the suitable piling position.
(3)Clamping: After side rotating, vibrate a few seconds, let down pile close to the clamp bottom, operate jaw open and close. To ensure the cylinder pressure, please keep jaw close for 2-3 minutes, then open the jaw.
P20
(4)Lifting the PIle: Close the clamps and lift the boom slowly until the height where an assistant can bind the pile. Fix a wire rope with pile.(Binding the pile is a safety measure to avoid dropping a pile if the clamps fail. It is important to always have a saftey rope no matter piling or extracting. ) AFter the assistant leaves, the operator can lift the pile slowly, rotate 270 °, adjust the penetration degree. Do not over rotate, otherwise the hose may stretch and break.
(5) Pile: Move the pile to the penetration position, start vibration, adjust boom and arm, bucket cylinder, take the piling machine to a horizontal position. When the pile reaches the rope-removing position, stop the vibration, remove the rope, keep vibrating to maintain soil liquidation. When the pile reaches the penetration depth, stop vibration, open the jaw, move away the clamp (see photo).
If there is a hard soil layer, activate the second stage vibration, the back end or one side end of the excavator is allowed to cock up. Avoid high temperature of gear box and bearings (temperature should not exceed 212 F (100 ℃) ), the allowed working time for the machine with the max power is about 5 minutes
P21
(6)Extracting: Move the hammer to the extracting position, clamp the pile, start vibration, adjust the boom and arm, bucket cylinder, put the machine in the horizontal position. Driving the pile down for 10 minutes, then pull it up. When the pile reaches the binding rope position, stop vibration, fix the binding rope. When the pile is nearly out stop vibration (see the following pic). If it is difficult to pull the pile out, operate second stage vibration, the rear-end or one side end of excavator is allowed to cock up, vibration and slow burst of 1-3 seconds
(7) Pile shaking: When the pile is pulled out, and there is a lot of mud need to be cleaned, operator can use the high frequency vibration to shake the pile and make the mud drop away from the pile. Pull the pile and move it to the empty ground, drive the pile into the soil a little (about 400-1000mm), start vibration (include second stage vibration), continuously vibrating about 1 min (see the following pic). It is important not to free hang vibrate the pile without it touching any soil.
P22
It is not safe to vibrate the hammer while the pile is not in the ground (as in the figure ). After extraction, put the pile back to a destinated position.

5. VibrationEnsure sheet pile has been tightly clamped,, press the vibration button to start the pile driving. Never move the excavator boom laterally under pile driving condition.
6. Boom pressurizationWhen it is felt that the soilunder the sheet pile is loose, operate the boom to pressdownward.
7.Use second vibration settingWhen the pile driver force or the excavator power supply is not enough, step on the second vibration setting to increase the vibrating speed, when the sheet pile is driven to the position, the clamp can be loosened.
8.Adjust positionIf the pile is stuck and cannot be driven to grade or two parallel adjacent sheet piles can not join smoothly, pull the pile up again and adjust the position of the excavator. When pulling the pile, do not pull the pile horizontally, only vertically.
P37
Note: Please note that the average drive time of driving a pile is about minutes. Pay attention to how long the hammer is under vibration. Long vibration time will shorten the life of bearings, oil seals, and hydraulic motor.
Warning: if a pile is at refusal, do not overburden the machine to force a pile in the ground beyond the above stated recommendations for machine usage.

Chapter 7 Inspection and maintenance
7.1 Inspection and maintenance
7.1.1 Adapter
(1) Different brands and models of excavators have different size connectors and oil circuits. Each excavator is different.(2)Please completely clean the dirt and dust on the connectors and fittings of hydraulic hoses and fittings before connecting or disconnecting.(3)Make sure there is no leaks on the hydraulic hoses and check for any loose fittings.(4)Make sure to the bolts are tight on the axles of the vibrator vice arm to prevent unwanted disconnection.(5)Grease at each pin and Axel regularly!
7.1.2 Vibrator(1) Always confirm bolts are tight on the motor, elastomers, and hydraulic hoses everyday. Any vibratory machine will see bolts loosen over time.(2) Please check, tighten and grease all the pins and axles around the hanger. For Lubrication points refer to diagrams above.(3) Regularly check the oil level in gear box. Deterioration of the oil will produce large viscosity and resistance and overload the motor. The vibration force will decrease and the gear box will be overheat quickly if over filled with oil. (4) Check the bearing covers and side covers of the gear box for oil leakage.(5) Confirm if the rubber of Elastomer are damaged or cracks.(6) Confirm breather valves are not clogged(7) If any bolts are missing or lost immediately replace them.

Please check bearing covers and side covers of gear box for any oil leaks.
The first gear oil to be done after 200 hours Weekly inspection and monthly replacement
should be made regularly.

7.1.3 Clamp
(1) Confirm whether the bolts of the clamp are tight. The hydraulic cylinder should not leak any oil.(2) Please check jaws for tooth wear. If less than 0.157 inches (4mm) then replace jaws.
when less than 4mm replacement
(3) Clear and clean any sand and soil off the clamp jaws.(4) Check the rings at the end of the axle pins have come loose,
When the fixing ring come loose, the axle pin may drop.(5) Confirm the hydraulic cylinder link pin and the central axle pin
have not been bent.(6) Add lubricant oil on every axle pin.(7) After replacing hydraulic fittings on the clamp it is best to
bleed all the air out of the clamping system before driving piles.

7.1.4 Hydraulic excavator Maintenance on the Excavator should follow the excavator operations manual.
7.1.5 Controls and electric circuit box(1) Make sure power is safely connected to the excavator battery.
(2) Make sure no electric wires are loose and no fuses are blown.
(3) Only certified electricians should work on the electronics.
(4) Look for any broken wires at all times
7.1.6 The hydraulic oil hose and oil control valve(1) Check the hydraulic hoses prior to each use.(2) Check hydraulic fittings for any leaks for cracks.(3) Make sure each hydraulic connection is tight.(4) Replaces hoses when needed, careful not to over tighten hydraulic fittings, over tightening can cause damage.(5) The hydraulic relief valves and settings have been pre-set by the factor, do not adjust them without approval from an Antaeus service person.
