Auditions are open to both beginners and experienced actors, residents and non-residents, in grades 8 - 12. There is no fee to audition. If you are cast in the show, there is a $200 Resident/ $215 non-resident fee, this includes a cast t-shirt, cast photo, song sheets, most costume pieces and other production material costs.

Show dates: Mama Mia: December 2-5 (2 Casts, 3 shows each) We will also be auditioning K – 7th graders for Descendants The Musical. Descendants: November 18 - 21 (2 Casts, 3 shows each cast)

Everyone auditioning will be taught a short dance/movement sequence before entering the audition room.

Be sure to review the character summary to learn more about each character.

Singing and acting are most important for the audition!

CHARACTER SUMMARY Donna Sheridan Owner of the Summer Night City Taverna in the Greek Isles. She is

Sophie’s mother and the former lead of “Donna and the Dynamos”. She is honest and hard-working and one of the most vulnerable of the characters in the production.

Sophie Sheridan Sophie is the head-strong daughter to Donna. She is determined to have what her mother never had: a traditional family and a father to walk her down the aisle. Sophie is positive, adventurous and has a lot of energy. She is marrying Sky.

Ali, Lisa Sophie’s friends/bridesmaids that have come to the island for the wedding. They are both fun loving, bubbly and ready to support their friend in whatever trouble she gets into!

Tanya Cresham-Leigh Donna’s friend and member of “Donna and the Dynamos”. Tanya has married well – multiple time! Tanya is wild, refined, fun-loving … a big character on stage. And she is a flirt!

Rosie Mulligan Donna’s friend and former member of the “Donna and the Dynamos”. Free-spirited, she is well known for writing cookbooks. Rosie is confident and very funny on the outside– she makes fun of herself to hide her vulnerability. Dances like nobody’s watching.

Sky Sophie’s fiancée – former stock broker that is smitten with Sophie. Sky wants to please Sophie.

Pepper Flirty waiter at the Taverna. Energetic and fun-loving, makes a great double-act with Eddie.

Eddie A waiter, boatman and handyman at the Taverna. Other half of double-act with Pepper.

Harry Bright One of Sophie’s potential fathers and a respected London banker. Known as “Harry Head-Banger” in his younger days – he used to be a partying musician who went down the straight road. He is a quirky, romantic nice guy.

Bill Austin Another of Sophie’s potential fathers, a well-known travel writer, he has traveled the world but is still looking for something. Bill is very comedic and has a heart of gold.

Sam Carmichael One of Sophie’s Potential fathers and a wealthy architect, he has regretted leaving Donna all his life. He is fairly straight-laced, confident and composed and sometimes little over-bearing. Very honest and likeable character.

Father Alexandrios The minister who officiates Sophie’s wedding. Delightful character with sense of humor.

Ever Present Chorus/Ensemble In multiple scenes, songs – they keep showing up! Islanders are both employees and wedding guests.

Sophie: Oh, Mom’s always talking about her friends from the old days… And I thought she’d be thrilled if I invited you all. But she’s got herself in such a stage about this wedding – mention unexpected guests and she’ll hyper-ventilate. So, pretend you’re here for a holiday. She’ll get a lovely surprise when she sees you at my wedding and we can let her in on the secret.

Donna: Of course I’m sure. You think I’d forget my daughter’s Dads? It’s Sam, Bill Austin and Harry ‘Head Banger’. Why have they all turned up like this? It’s like some horrible twist of Fate. I don’t want them spoiling Sophie’s wedding. They’ve no right to turn up like this – what the heck have they ever done for their daughter?

I thought the past was over. I’d almost forgotten. But it isn’t! I knew this would happen! All my life, it’s been tapping at my shoulder, and of course it had to come out now. Why was I such a stupid little idiot?

Sam:

I see that, but she’s so young. I mean does she know what she really want? You see, I think part of her just wants to let you know that she isn’t going to leave you alone here, on your own. Donna look, I have two grown children I know something about letting go.

Harry: No, no I borrowed it. Look. No, where is it? D.S. Donna Sheridan and H.B. Head Banger. I

bought her this. It cost me ten quid plus my Johnny rotten T-shirt. Your mother knew quite

a rebel. I was studying in Paris when I met her. I hopped on a train and followed her to

Greece, quite spontaneously.

Bill: I got this note from Sophie. She wanted me to give her away, but now she’s change her

mind. I’m confused. I don’t know where I am – I don’t know who I am. I just came her for

a wedding. Well to tell you the truth – I was dreading that walk down the aisle. I may

come across as the intrepid traveler, but I come over all faint at the thought of a wedding.

Tanya, Rosie: No … children can become such subversive little buggers! I mean, who’d have thought

that Donna, the icon of female independence, would have a daughter committing

matrimony at twenty. What’s wrong with these kids? Do you remember those t-shirts we

used to wear? ‘Marriage is an institution … for people who belong in an institution!’
