Design-Build in the Federal MarketplaceWe know that two of the biggest challenges facing federal projects are gaps in time and budget. The good news is that design-build project delivery closes those gaps and will be especially important as teams in the federal marketplace strive to deliver innovative, resilient, cost and schedule-efficient projects to fuel our post-COVID economic recovery. As the prospect for a federal infrastructure bill and potentially large-scale investment package appears more likely than ever, it is important teams are ready to respond to federal Owners’ need for qualified design-build pros.

The Design-Build Institute of America’s Federal Design-Build Symposium is designed for this unique time in our history providing federal teams with the innovative tools, design-build best practices, and federal policy insights needed to prepare high-performance teams to deliver better projects. From understanding the FAR to cutting-edge design-build innovations, these sessions are designed to help federal design-build teams deliver on the promise as good stewards of taxpayer monies and economic recovery. There are basic knowledge and advanced expertise sessions, too.

We know many of you are ready to meet in person again; however, for those who cannot or prefer not, DBIA is happy to offer a virtual event to expand your options and allow access to anyone eager to make important connections and learn the latest about design-build project delivery in the federal marketplace.

We look forward to seeing you in August (virtually or in-person) at this important federal marketplace event.

Moderator:Presenters:

Jim L. Whitaker, FAIA, FDBIA, NCARB; HKS, Inc.TBA

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (“USACE”) was the tip of the spear for the massive, emergency federal response to COVID-19. De-sign-build was chosen as the project delivery methodology. Why? Because no other project delivery methodology could have accom-plished what many described as an architecture, engineering, and construction miracle. A miracle repeated 38 times across the country, converting convention centers, arenas, hotels, mothballed prisons and hospitals into alternative care facilities (“ACFs”) with days or weeks. Days or weeks! Come hear how the AEC community rose to the occasion in repeatable success stories, partnered with USACE, and made miracles happen.
