Dear Parents & Guardians, We’d like to invite you and your family to be a part of the Nebraska 4-H Camp family! We believe in the power of camp to provide life changing experiences where your child will have opportunities to Discover, Learn, and Grow. When you’re attending one of our residential overnight camp programs, your child will develop new skills, build self-confidence, gain independence, take healthy risks, and make new friends in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Many campers come to 4-H Camp to have fun, but leave with new friends, bolstered confidence, leadership skills, and a lifetime of memories!

Our 4-H Camp location in Halsey, Nebraska is accredited by the American Camp Association® with several of the modern conveniences of home. Our youth development team receives a full two weeks of hands-on training where they are expertly trained in positive youth development practices, CPR and First Aid, water safety, camping skills, navigating homesickness, and much more! Many of our camp counselors are enrolled in classes for the fields of youth development, education, creative arts, recreation, or environmental sciences. Our camp administration team are leaders among our peers with over 30 collective years of working in the youth development and camping fields.

We hope that you join us this summer at camp! Nebraska 4-H Camps are open to ALL youth ages 8-18. You do not need to be in a 4-H club to join us at camp! Please call us with any questions that you may have about camp! We can be reached by phone or email using the contact info below!

RESIDENTIAL OVERNIGHT CAMPS

Overnight camps are open to all youth ages 8-15. If select weeks or trips are only offered for specific ages, that will be noted in the description. All camps take place at the Nebraska State 4-H Camp in Halsey, NE (83222 4-H Camp Rd, Halsey, NE 69142).

About Our Program

Our residential overnight programs group campers by specific ages within cabins and activity groups. This allows for the best experience for your camper to interact with a larger group of their peers and experience age appropriate activities. All youth interact with each other during meal times, large group games, evening activities, and special events. 4-H Overnight Camp allows youth the chance to explore a variety of outdoor camp activities and traditions. Camp increases self-esteem, fosters a love for the outdoors, and aids in the development of social skills needed in the real world through a variety of experiences. While at camp, youth will have the opportunity to develop new friendships, build confidence, gain leadership skills and a respect for nature, conquer their fears, and find new ways of challenging themselves. Campers will leave with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and a lifetime of memories!

Leaders in Training – Become a Jr. Counselor! Session: LIT | June 1-414-18 Years | $150

Our Leaders In Training (LIT) program is specifically designed for all youth wanting to advance their leadership abilities. Teen campers will have the opportunity to build skills in communication, problem solving, teamwork, decision making, planning, conflict resolution and youth supervision. Through our leadership experience, young adults will gain confidence and further personal growth while enjoying the high ropes course, 400 foot long zipline, archery, canoeing, and a variety of other camp activities! After completion of the “Leaders in Training” program, successful candidates have the option to volunteer at camp as a Jr. Camp Counselor, the first step in our staff development process. Our LIT program can be applied to community

service and volunteer hour requirements.

*If interested, Jr. Counselors will have the opportunity to preference specific weeks throughout the summer that they are able to volunteer.

**Program Assistant is the middle level of our staff development program. PA’s must be 17 years old or 16 years old with prior 4-H Camp experience. PA’s must complete an application and interview process - if selected they must commit to at least 3 weeks (non-consecutive) of camp, in addition to completing the “Leaders in Training” session. They will be given more responsibility and leadership opportunities throughout the summer and serve as a role model for the Jr. Counselor program. PA’s must attend LIT training, but will receive a discount code. Visit this site for more information and online application for Program Assistant opportunities: https://4h.unl.edu/camps-centers/summer-jobs
