PREPARE FOR TAKE-OFFPrepare for a career in the skies while still on the ground. An authentic Boeing 737 Next Generation

flight simulator has landed at Mawson Lakes Campus for pilot training, as well as safety management and

navigation exercises for aviation students. Experience the view from the cockpit, with a 180 degree

wrap-around screen and high fidelity visuals that simulate real flying conditions. You will also develop your understanding of how the body and mind react

during flights and high-pressure situations.

The sky’s the limit An industry partnership between UniSA and Qantas is giving aviation students a clear path into one of the world’s leading airlines. The Qantas Group Future Pilot Program is an opportunity for high-performing aviation students to engage with industry and really take off with their career.

Participants will have access to training, mentoring and networking with Qantas pilots and will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced QantasLink pilot as a First Officer after completing the program.

With the demand for pilots expected to increase exponentially in the next 20 years, this partnership gives students an important advantage as they take to the skies with an internationally renowned airline.

Study South Australia’s only aviation degree and take the first steps in your aviation career. Gain fundamental knowledge in aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation, flight planning, human factors, risk and safety management, and aircraft performance. You will also develop strong communication and leadership skills. Access industry-standard technologies on campus, including a CASA-certified Boeing 737 Next Generation flight simulator. Practical flight training is not delivered through this program. If your goal is to become a commercial airline pilot, and you want to undertake practical flight training with UniSA, you will need to apply to study the Graduate Diploma in Aviation. Commence your practical flight training through this program, which is studied concurrently with the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot). Learn to fly under the supervision of experienced instructors. Develop the knowledge, skills and key competencies to sit for a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). Be prepared to work as a first officer in a multi-crew aircraft or as a pilot in command of single engine operations. Submit detailed flight plans and access the latest aerodrome alerts and weather forecasts. Benefit from strong links to industry, including the Qantas Future Pilot Program.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot) (LBAN) program to be eligible to apply for the Graduate Diploma in Aviation (LGAN), however admission into LBAN does not guarantee entry into LGAN. Entry into LGAN is subject to a specific entry process which occurs after the commencement of LBAN. Strict selection and entry criteria apply to LGAN. Offers for admission into LGAN may also be subject to a cap on student numbers. LGAN is delivered at the UniSA Aviation Academy, based at Parafield Airport.

ENTRY CRITERIAThe selection process is competitive and includes a formal interview, flight aptitude test and assessment of English proficiency. The interview will assess the skills and qualities considered important for professional practice, including professional behaviour, personal motivation and commitment, ability to communicate clearly and take direction, workload management and organisational skills, compatibility and understanding of the program and the aviation profession. Only applicants satisfying the entry criteria will be eligible to receive an offer in LGAN. Offers will, however, be limited to the number of places available in LGAN.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA Before commencing flight training, students must obtain a Class I Medical Certificate (Class II will also be considered if you have held a Class I Certificate within the last three years). Before enrolling in Advanced Flying, students must also hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). For more information visit the CASA website.

APPLICATION PROCESSLGAN must be studied concurrently with the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot) (LBAN). The University will invite students to apply for LGAN during their first year of study in LBAN.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Masters by Research• Bachelor degree of at least three years in a relevant discipline with a minimum credit

average; or • Honours 1, Honours 2, Honours 3 or an appropriate master’s degree or equivalent

qualification; or• No tertiary qualifications (some discipline areas only) with demonstration of research

capabilities via assessment of relevant quality publications and professional experience.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) • Honours 1, Honours 2A, or an appropriate master’s degree or equivalent qualification.

Alternative entry• Other postgraduate and undergraduate degrees may be considered for admission into

the Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with demonstration of research capabilities via assessment of relevant quality publications and professional experience.

Eligibility for entry into a research degree is also subject to an assessment of the proposed research, supervisor availability, and any University or research-specific eligibility requirements.

APPLYING WITH YEAR 12Applicants are required to have successfully completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with:

• a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR) including adjustment factors; AND

• the fulfilment of the program’s prerequisite requirements (where applicable).

Applicants may also be eligible to compete for entry if they have completed the program’s prerequisite requirements and have completed one of the following:

• an interstate or overseas qualification considered by the University as equivalent to SACE; or

• the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points.

For some degrees, applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank (ATAR) required for automatic selection into their preferred degree may be selected for any remaining places based on the grades of their Year 12 subjects.

ADJUSTMENT FACTORS Universities in South Australia include ATAR-related adjustment factors (previously known as bonus points) for Australian high school students applying for entry into university via the following schemes:

ADMISSIONS PATHWAYSEntering your chosen program straight from high school is not the only pathway into UniSA. Applicants may also meet the minimum requirements to apply for entry (via competitive selection) through one of the following:

Higher education study – completion of at least half a year of full-time equivalent study at UniSA or a recognised higher education institution. You can apply using your Grade Point Average (GPA).

Higher education diploma – completion of a higher education diploma from UniSA College (applicable programs listed on each bachelor program in this guide), the South Australian Institute of Business and Technology (SAIBT), or another recognised higher education institution.

Special entry – a competitive Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) score. A personal competencies statement or relevant employment experience may also be considered for some programs.

Vocational Education Training (VET) – applicants may be eligible for entry with the completion of an award from TAFE or another Registered Training Organisation at AQF Certificate IV or above.

UniSA College – there are a variety of pathway options offered through UniSA College, including diplomas and the Foundation Studies program.

Alternative education providers – there are a range of alternative pathways including bridging qualifications offered through SAIBT and Eynesbury.

FEES All domestic undergraduate students at the University of South Australia are in Commonwealth-supported places.
