THE AFMTheAmericanFederationofMotorcyclists, Inc. (AFM) isanon-profitCaliforniacorporationthatwasfoundedin1954byagroupofsportridingenthusiastsandhasgrowntohundredsofcompetitionmembers.Itistheoldestracingorganizationinthecountrydedicatedtomotorcycleroadracing.

Northern California has one of the largest populations of sport riders in thecountry.Manyof thosesportridersfindtheirwayfromtheareasmountainandcanyonroadstotheAFMandtheracetrack.Manyofthem,afteraseasonortwoonthetrack,cutbackorquitstreetracingwhentherelativesafetyofpushingtheirlimitsonthetrackbecomesclear.

TheAFMconcentratesonprovidinganenvironmentthatwelcomesall typesofracersonmachinesfrom160ccVintagebikestomodernsuperbikes.Wehavesomeofthelargestturnoutsofanyregionalclubinthecountryandareoneofthe few that race at multiple tracks, having events at Buttonwillow Raceway,ThunderhillRacewayandSonomaRaceway.

AtypicalAFMracedaywillseemorethantwohundredracers,whichcanaccountforsixhundredormoretotalraceentries.

EachnewracerisrequiredtopassaNewRacerSchool(NRS)heldbyAFM,oranAFMapprovedvendor.MoreinfocanbefoundonourNRSProgramPage,RacingwiththeAFMwillprovideyouwiththesafestandmostresponsiblecrewyouaregoingtofindanywhere.

AFM COMPETITION RULES FOR 2021

The technical requirements for motorcycles contained in this rulebook are not to be regarded as all-inclusive relative to safe race preparation. It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure his/her motorcycle is prepared in a safe, workman-like manner.

Vendorsatthetrack,orwhohaveadvertisementsintheracedayprogramshouldnotbeinterpretedashavinganendorsementbyAFM.

The American Federation of Motorcyclists, Inc., (AFM), a 501c(7) non-profitCaliforniaCorporation,beganin1954asahandfulofenthusiastsandhasgrowntohundredsofcompetitionmembers.

OverallcontroloftheAFMrestswiththeBoardofDirectorsofAFM,Inc.electedbythemembership.Racepromotionandlocalmattersarehandledbychapters,oneintheSanFranciscoBayArea,andoneintheLosAngelesarea(currentlyinactive).ChaptermeetingsareheldmonthlyintheNorthernChapter.ChecktheAFMwebsite(www.afmracing.org)formeetingdayandtime.

Everything that is not authorized and prescribed in this rulebook is strictlyforbidden.Ifachangetoapartorsystemisnotspecificallyallowedinanyofthefollowingrules,thenitisforbidden.

TA-1.0 AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR MANAGEMENT OF RACE EVENTS

TA-1.1 CHAPTER The overall responsibility for the proper conduct andmanagement of

racemeets restswith the sponsoringAFMChapter, regardlessof theextentto,ormeansbywhichauthoritymaybedelegatedtoracemeetofficials.

TA-1.2 RACE DIRECTOR TheRaceDirectorshallbetheheadraceofficialatanyracemeet.The

duties and responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to,coursepreparationandsafety;providingandsupervisingturnmarshals;rulingonprotests;disqualifyingridersormotorcycleswho(which)failtomeettherequirementssetforthelsewhereintheserules.

TA-1.3 ENTRY COMMITTEE The Entry Committee shall be responsible for processing all entries;

maintainingacurrentfileoflicense-holderdataandcopiesofMedicalTreatmentandAuthorizationForms;verifyingthecredentialsofallriders;and for scoring all races. TheCommittee shall also furnish completeraceresults(includingallfinishersandnumbersofentries)totheAFMSecretarywithin14daysfollowingtheracemeet.Onlyofficial,confirmed,signedresultswillbesentviae-mailtothemanufacturersforanyawardsorbenefits,unlessotherwiserequestedbythesponsor.

TA-1.4 TECHNICAL INSPECTION (TECH) TheTechnical lnspector(s)shall judge thesafety forcompetitionofall

motorcyclesenteredataracemeet(referenceSectionRE-1.3,TE-1.0,TE-3.1, TE-7.0). The lnspector(s) shall also judge as to the safety of,andcompliancetoSectionTE-2.0,allappareland/orequipmenttobewornby the rider (referenceAppendixA).The Inspector’s reasonablejudgmentandtheserulesshallgovernallsuchdecisions.Disputesshallbe judgedby theRaceDirectorordulyappointedReferee (referenceSectionTA-1.1.6).

TA-1.5 STARTER The Starter shall start and finish all races and practice sessions in

accordance with the procedures set forth in Section RE-1.5. Thecommunication to all riders of theseprocedures, and of themeaninganduseofflags,shallbetheresponsibilityoftheStarter.

TA-1.6 REFEREE TheRaceDirectormayappointaRefereetoassumetheRaceDirector’s

complete authority on racedaywith regards to the followingmatters:(1)Decidingprotestsandassigningappropriatepenalties;(2)DecidingTechdisputes;(3)Disallowingordisqualifyingridersormachinesfoundnot tobe inconformancewith these rules; (4)Conducting theRider’sMeeting;(5)Handlingridercomplaintsandquestions.

TA-1.7 APPEAL OF DECISIONS This appeals process applies to race day protests, disqualifications,

etc.TheRaceDirectororRefereeshalldecideallprotests.AppealsoftheirdecisionmustbemadeinwritingtotheAFMBoardwithintwo(2)weeksandwillbeconsideredbytheAFMBoardofDirectors.AllRaceDirector/Refereedecisionsmaybeappealed,includingdisqualifications.AppealsmustbemadeinwritingtotheAFMBoardwithintwo(2)weeksandwillbeconsideredbytheAFMBoardofDirectors.AppealsmaybemailedtoAFMAppeals:395TaylorBlvd#130,PleasantHill,CA94523;[email protected].

LI-1.0 LICENSING AND RACING ENTRY LI-1.1 LICENSING

LI-1.1.1 Uponreceiptoftheitemslistedhereunder,theAFMshall,withdiscretion,issueanAFMCompetitionLicense:a) Aproperlyexecutedapplication,submittedonlinethrough

www.motorsportsreg.com.b) ReleaseandWaiverofLiabilityAgreementform,available

atwww.afmracing.org.Thesignatureofaparentor legalguardianisrequiredforminorsasoutlinedLI-1.1.2(a)and(b).

c) Personal major medical insurance is required for allcompetitionmembers.EmergencyRoom-onlyinsuranceisnotacceptable.

d) Photocopy of valid driver’s license, state-issued pictureidentificationornotarizedcopyofbirthcertificatemayberequireduponrequestatanytime.

e) Allapplicablefees.f) Comprehension of both written and spoken English is

required.LI-1.1.2 Minor Applicants:Thesignatureofaparentorlegalguardian

is required for all applicants less than 18 years of age.The minimum age for all accepted applicants is 16 years.Exceptionsmaybemadeforpersonsunder16yearsofage.Potentialridersunder16yearsoldmustpetitiontheAFMBoardofDirectorsforapproval.Trackpolicymaydetermineagelimitatsomeevents.

a)Riders16-17yearsofagemusthavethefollowing:

i) AFMMinor License application signedbyEITHER themotherorthefatheroftheunderagerider.

ii) Notarized Release and Waiver of Liability AgreementformsignedbyEITHERthemotheror the fatherof theunderagerider.

iii) Provideacurrentyear roadracingExpert license fromanAFM-approvedclub,ORcompleteanapprovedAFMNewRacerSchool.

b)Riders15yearsofageandundermusthavethefollowing:

i) CompleteanapprovedNewRacerSchool,orcarryacurrent year Expert license from an AFM-approvedclub.

ii)Providearesumeforthepasttwoyearsoftheirracingexperienceto includedates, tracks,classes,finishingpositionandnumbersofstarters(whenavailable).

iii)Arecommendationletterfromtheclub(s)listedontheresume,preferablyanAFM-approvedclub.

iv) AnAFMMinorLicenseapplication,signedbyBOTHthemotherandfatheroftheunderagerider.

v)AnotarizedReleaseandWaiverofLiabilityAgreementform,signedbyBOTHthemotherandthefatheroftheunderagerider.

vi) Schedule and undergo an interview by three boardmembers. This can be done via phone call, Skype,or other means available for multiple persons to beon the same interview. Once AFM has received themembershipapplication,aninterviewwillbescheduledwiththeBoardofDirectors.

– Ridersundertheageof15maynotparticipateatSonomaRaceway.

– Ridersundertheageof15arelimitedto125cc2-stroke,upto500cc4-stroke.

– Riders15-17(ANDwiththeAFMBoardapproval)mayrideamotorcyclenolargerthan250cc2-strokeor650cc4-stroke.

– Riders17andunderarerequiredtohaveatleastone(1)parentbeamemberingoodstanding,holdingacurrentAssociateorCompetitionmembershipfromAFM.

– Riders 17 and under are required to have at least one (1) parent or legalguardiantobepresentatthetrackatalltimesduringAFMevents.

LI-1.1.4 ReciprocitylicenseholderswillNOTreceiveoraccruepoints,eitherinclassoroverall.a) Riders applying for a Reciprocity License who want

to by-pass an AFM authorized school, must providedocumentationfromtheotherracingclubthattheriderisclassedasaNoviceorExpert.Iftheridercannotprovidesuchdocumentation,theridermusttakeandpassanAFMauthorizedschool.OnlyapprovedmotorcycleRoadRacing

clubs are accepted for Reciprocity License purposes;other racing forms(dirt,moto,Supermoto,mini,etc.)arenotaccepted.

b) Reciprocity riders are not eligible for season-endchampionshipsorcontingencyawards; theymayappearonresults/standingspriortotheseason-endfinalstandings.

c) Reciprocity license holders may upgrade to a fullcompetitionlicensepriortoJuly1,2021only.

LI-1.1.5 RiderswillbeclassifiedasFirstYear,NoviceClubman,Novice,ExpertorProat thediscretionof theLicenseCommittee.AllridersmustmeettheeligibilityrequirementslistedinruleLI-1.2andLI-1.2.1.

LI-1.1.6 NumbersAnAFMCompetitionNumber isassignedtoeachmember. Itis printed on the license. It will be used exclusively on anymachineracedbythemember(exceptasallowedbytheRaceDirectorataspecificracemeet).Numbers1to5areissuedonthebasisofriderperformanceintheFormulaPacificclassfromthepriorseason(butnotfor2020).Numbers6to10willbeissuedonthebasisofpointsaccruedinallotherclasses(TopOverallPointsstandings.)Numbers11-999areissuedatthediscretionof theLicensingCommitteewithconsiderationgiventopreviousAFMCompetitionNumber.a) Ridersholdinga2-digitnumberfrom2020whohavenot

participated (e.g., not started a race) for four or moreseasonswillbeconvertedonrenewalfor2021tothesame2-digitnumberwithan“X”suffix.The fourseasonrule isonly in effect for 2021.After that, this rule reverts to theusualthreeseasons.Ifthatriderstartsracingagain,theywill run the “X”numberandwillbeeligible to regain thenon-X number should it become available. Enduranceracesdonotcountas“participatingentries”inregardstothisrule;Clubmanracesdocount.

LI-1.1.7 AFMLicensesshallexpireattheendofthecalendaryearinwhichtheyareissued.

LI-1.1.8 TheAFMLicenseCommitteeand/orAFMBoardofDirectors,at its discretion,may delay or deny issuing of a license, orsuspendanalreadyissuedlicensefor,orremoveraceeventprivilegesfor,butnotlimitedto:a) Falsifyinganyinformationonthelicenseapplicationform.b) Forging thesignatureofaparent,guardianorNotaryon

anyforms.

c) Failure to cooperate fully in the execution of all formsor documents as may be reasonably required to settleinsuranceclaimsorlegalactions.

d) Failure to make reimbursement for returned checks ordeclinedcreditcardswithinten(10)days,orprior tothenextevent,whichevercomesfirst.

e) Failuretopaythefeeonreturnedchecksordeclinedcreditcards.

f) AnyoftheactionslistedinSectionDI-1.3.g) Conduct in public in such a manner as to cast a poor

publicimageontheAFM.h) Conduct that may expose the AFM to existing or future

liability.LI-1.2 NEW AND NOVICE RIDERS AND RETURNING EXPERTS A New Rider is one who has had little or no previous

experience as a Road Racing motorcycle competitor andmust complete an AFM-approvedNewRacer School (NRS)before competing. Prior to completing an NRS, the riders’classificationisFY(FirstYear);aftersuccessfulcompletionofaSchool,theriderwillbeclassifiedasaNoviceorNC(NoviceClubman).SuccessfulcompletionofanNRSisrequiredbeforearidermayparticipateinaregularracedayasaNovice.Atthediscretionof theAFM,outsidecompaniessuchas trackdayprovidersmaybeapprovedtoconductNRSsthatfollowAFMrequirements.RaceSchoolsfromotherapprovedracingclubs(WMRRA,OMRRA,etc.)mayalsoqualifyfortheAFM’sRaceSchoolrequirement.Studentsfromsuchapprovednewracer schoolsmaybe required topassanAFMwrittenquizpriortoregisteringfortheirfirstpracticeentry.

LI-1.2.1 ExpertandNoviceriderswhohavenotparticipatedinracesforextendedperiodsmayberequiredtotakeanAFM-approvedschool.a) Prior expert licensed riders can be unlicensed and not

participatinginAFMorotherRoadRaceeventsforuptofive(5)yearsbeforetheyhavetotakeandpassanAFM-approvedschool. It istheriders’responsibilitytoprovideproofoflicensingand/orparticipation.

b) ReturningmemberswhowerepreviouslyExpertstatuswillreturn to Expert status after passing an AFM-approvedSchool. People in this category must notify the licensecommittee.

c) Noviceswhohavenotparticipatedinthepriortwoseasonsmustre-takeandpassanAFM-approvedSchool.

d) RiderswhopassedanAFM-approvedSchoolmustlicensewith AFM within one year of the date of completion ofthat school for it to be accepted towards AFM’s Schoolrequirements.

LI-1.2.2 Novice or Novice Clubman riders who are racing with theAFMforthefirsttimewillberequiredtoenterClubmanraces(reference Section CL-1.5). After the initial requirement,Clubman is not mandatory. A Novice rider is one who hasless than five (5) completed road races and has notwon aclasschampionship.Amid-seasonchangeofstatus(Noviceto Expert) may be authorized by petitioning the LicenseCommittee.ChapterOptional,EnduranceandExhibitionracesdonotcounttowardadvancementtoExpertstatus.ANovicemaystayaNoviceuntiltheymeettherequirementsbelow.a) RequirementforaNoviceridertoelecttoadvancetoExpert

inthenextseason:YoumustholdaNoviceClubmanand/orNovicelicenseANDcompletearoadraceorracesoversix(6)uniqueraceweekends.Itistherider’schoicetoadvancetoExpert.RidersmayremainaNoviceforaslongaslongastheNoviceriderdoesnotmeetthemandatoryadvancementcriteria

b) RequirementformandatoryadvancementtoExpertstatusinthenextseason:IfariderfinishesinthetopthreeofanyNoviceclassinyear-endpoints.

LI-1.2.3 Novice Riders must use yellow number plates with blacknumbers.

LI-1.2.4 AnyNoviceRideradvancingtoExpertstatusinthemiddleofaraceseasonwillforfeitallNovicepointsearnedduringthatcurrentseasonandwillstartearningpointsasanExpert.

LI-1.3 ENTRY PROCEDURELI-1.3.1 The following are required to constitute a valid race meet

entry: Completed entry/tech form for that race meet. Onlyentry/techformsapprovedbytheAFMBoardofDirectorsmaybeused.Whentherider isunder18yearsofagetherider’sparent or legal guardianmust sign the Release andWaiverofResponsibility on the first dayof riderparticipation in theracemeetandthesignaturemustbewitnessedbytheEntryCommittee.

LI-1.3.2 CurrentAFMRoadRacingCompetitionLicense.LI-1.3.3 Personal,majormedical insurance currently in effect. Any rider

foundtobewithoutpersonalmedicalinsurancewillbesuspendedfor12monthsfromthedateoftheinfraction.

LI-1.3.4 Medical release form from a licensed physician in the event ofaninjuryatapreviouseventthatwasclassifiedasseriousorlife-threatening.

LI-1.3.5 Paymentofapplicableentryfee(s).a) ApersonwhopaysfeestoAFMwithNSF(insufficientfunds)

checksordeclinedcreditcardswillnotbeallowedtoparticipatein AFM events until all NSF checks and/or declined creditcardsand theirapplicablebankchargesarecovered.RaceentriesmadewithNSFchecksand/ordeclinedcredit cardsmaybeconsideredVOID,andallpointsandmonetaryawardsobtainedwithdrawn.AtthediscretionoftheEntryCommittee,all furtherchecksand/orattemptedcreditcardchargesmayberefused,andallraceentriesdenieduntilNSFchecksand/or declined credit cards are covered andwithdrawnmoneyis repaid.Additional feesmayapply toanyandall chargesdeniedtoAFM.

LI-1.3.6 Additionaldocuments toverify identificationorage.Ridersmaybeaskedtosubmitsecondaryproofofidentificationorage,suchasdriver’s licenseorbirthcertificate,at therequestofanyAFMofficial.

LI-1.3.7 The Entry Committee may refuse any entry at its reasonablediscretion.

LI-1.3.8 Ifanentrantfalsifiesinformationonanentryform,entrantshallbesubjecttoafineofupto$200and/ordisqualification.

LI-1.3.9 Entries and Administration fees are handled in the followingmanner:a) Allfeesnotusedonaspecificracedaybyaspecificriderwill

becreditedtothesameriderforfutureentries.AllentrymoniescollectedbytheAFMwillnotberefunded.

b) TheAFMonlinepre-entrytool,withinstructions,allowscurrentAFMcompetitionmembers topre-enterpracticesand racesovertheinternetviatheAFMwebsite.Allrelevantentryrulesapply,includingallrace,acceptanceanddeadlinedates.

c) Pre-entry notification and race schedules are sent by emailblast at least four weeks prior to each event. Entries notreceivedbythecut-offdatewillbesubjecttoanon-refundablepostentryfee.

d) Entries are prioritized by the date received and acceptedbasedonspaceavailable.Everyriderisguaranteedatleastoneentryperraceday,ifyourentryisreceivedbythecut-offdate.Afterthecut-offdate,ridersmayaddtoanexistingentrybyadjustingtheirentryatsign-in.

e) Entries are submitted through the rider’s account onMotorsportsReg.com.

f) Riderswhoarealreadyenteredinaneventmayaddanotherclassatthetrackatthatevent,priortothegriddingcompletionandavailability.Cut-offtimesareasfollows:foraddingaraceonSaturday,ridersmustenterby11amSaturday.Foraddingaracethatrunsinraces1-6onSunday,ridersmustenterby5pmSaturday.Foraddingaracethatrunsinraces7-14onSunday,ridersmustenterby8amSunday.NOEXCEPTIONS.

g) An administration feemay be charged for each grid spotissuedinwhichtheriderdidnotstarttherace(DNS).Riderswho crashed on that day are exempt from this fee (Ref.AppendixC),

LI-1.3.10Practice feesarechargedby(1) fulldaysessionand(2)afterlunch or PM session. All bikes receiving a separate sessionstickerwillbechargedthesameamountforeachsticker.

LI-1.3.11Scoring transponders are required for all Competition andReciprocity members, and must be functioning during allpracticesandraces;failuretodosomayresultintheriderbeingblackflaggedand/ornotscored.Ridersmayalsobepenalizedfor not running an operational scoring transponder (referenceSection DI-1.3). A hand scoring fee will be charged for allfinishingplaceswithanon-workingtransponder.Transponderswillbeavailableatallpracticeandraceevents.AFMRegistrationmustbenotifiedifariderchangestransponders.

LI-1.3.12Choiceofpracticesessionwillbedeterminedbytheriders’bestlaptimeasdeterminedbyofficialAFMtimingdata.Thiswillbedoneautomaticallybytheentrysystem.

b) Pistons, rings,pistonpins,andcirclipsmaybereplacedonlywithstandard bore, stock production items. There is no allowance foroverbore.

c) Camsprocketsmaybeslottedsolelyforthepurposeofalteringcamtiming.Press-oncamsprocketsmaybe replacedwithaftermarketsteelbolt-oncamsprocketsandadapters.Aftermarketcamchaintensioners are permitted. Camshafts must be installed in theiroriginally designed position (i.e., a stock intake camshaft has tooperatetheintakevalveandastockexhaustcamshafthastooperatetheexhaustvalve).

d) Cylinder head, cylinder and crankcase gasket surfaces onlymaybemachined for increasedcompression.Allothersurfacesof thecylinder head, cylinder and crankcases must remain absolutelystock, with no metal removal. Light cleaning of gasket surfaceswithsteelwool,Scotch-Brite™,etc.isallowed.Deburringradiusofmachinedareamustnotbegreaterthan0.020”or0.5mm.

m) Enginecaseguardsintheformofstrengthenedenginesidecoversmaybe installed andmust be no lighter inweight than the stockcovers. Engine case guards that are MotoAmerica/FIM-approvedmayalsobeinstalled.

n) 49-statemodelengineandignitioncomponentsmayreplacethosesame components of California-only motorcycles of the samemanufacturer,yearandmodel.

o) The complete ignition/engine control systemmust be the originalOEMpartsofthemodelbeingusedincompetitionexceptasfollows:Ignitiontimingmaybealteredbyslottingtheignitiontriggermountingplateorreplacingthestockignitionrotorwithanaftermarketrotor.

p) Ignition control modules may be modified or replaced withaftermarket modules. Replacement modules must connect to theoriginalconnectors.

q) Sparkplugsandplugwiresmaybereplacedwithaftermarketparts.r) Disabledcylindertriples(TE-8.0)arepermittedtogrindcamlobes

fromonecylinderfortheexpresspurposeofdisablingacylinder.

SB-1.0 SUPERBIKE TECHNICAL RULESSB-1.1 Superbikeclassesshallbe limitedtothosemotorcyclesmanufactured

for street use and homologated for anywhere in the world. Suchmotorcycles must be readily available to the general public fromestablishedmanufacturers,distributorsand/ordealers,andaresubjectto theapprovalof theAFMBoardofDirectors.Theenginecasesandframecombinationmustbeasproducedby themanufacturer. In thiscontext, the engine is described as the as-produced engine casehalves (top and bottom or left and right); cylinders and heads maybe replaced. (For example: youmay not swap amotor of a differentdisplacement fromthesameoranothermanufacturer intoa framenotoriginallyequippedwithsame).Changesintroducedbyamanufacturertoaspecificmodelconfiguration(e.g.,SuzukiGSXR750)subsequenttotheoriginalintroductionofthemodel,maybefittedwithinthelimitsofnormalassemblyprocedures.

GENERAL TECHNICAL RULES TE-1.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF ALL MOTORCYCLESTE-1.1 All motorcycles must be inspected by the Tech Committee before

participating in anypractice sessions or races at any racemeet andmust bear a seal of approval affirming that inspection. All previousstickersmustberemovedbeforeTechwillaffixanewseal.

TE-1.2 Excessively oily motorcycles shall be prohibited from participationin practice sessions or races, and will not be allowed through TechInspection.

TE-1.3 The Race Director may inspect (or direct a Technical Inspector toinspect)amotorcycleforcompliancetotherulesoftheclassinwhichitisenteredatanytimeduringaracemeet.Anymotorcyclefoundillegalmaynotcompeteforpointsorawardsinthatspecificclassatthatmeet.Itmayormaynotbeallowedtocompete.ArecommendationtotheRaceDirectorthatamachinebeinspectedmaybemadebyanyracemeetofficial,or,iftherequestismadebeforetherace,byanyparticipantataracemeet.

TE-1.4 Any and all modifications must be made in a safe and workmanlikemanner.ModificationsaresubjecttotheapprovalofTechnicalInspection.(Remember-yourlifemaydependonthequalityofthejobyoudo!)

TE-2.0 EQUIPMENT REQUIRED OF ALL RIDERS Safety is paramount. The Tech Inspector’s judgment or the decision

of theRaceDirectorshallprevailduring theracemeet.Ridersshouldmakeeveryefforttoseekoutinformationthatwillindicatethebestsafetyequipment available. The safety for competition use of any items ofapparelorotherequipmentshallbesubjecttothereasonablejudgmentoftheTechInspector(referenceSectionTA-1.1.4).

f) Allplugsandfittingswithoilorcoolantbehindthemmustbesecurelyfastened and safety wired. Banjo bolts with oil or coolant behindthemmustbesecuredwithsafetywireand/orRTV.Safety-pinstyleclipsareonlyallowedforoilfillerorradiatorcapsoroildipstick(s)andmustbewiredproperly.

g) Liquid-cooled motorcycle engines must use water as a coolantor water with Prestone™, Water Pump Lube, Redline™ WaterWetter, RC20, orAmsoilDominatorCoolantBoost (anddiluted asrecommendedbymanufacturer).

h) Oilcoolersmustbemountedinfrontoftherider.i) After-market or AFM approved cases are required as shown In

AppendixA.j) Oil filters must be secured with a metal hose clamp around the

RE-1.3.4 Ifamotorcycle issuspectedbyTechofbeing illegal for theclassinwhichitisentered,TechmayrecommendtotheRaceDirector that the machine be inspected for conformance toclassrules.

RE-1.3.5FalsificationormisuseofTechstickersand/orhelmetstickersshallsubjecttheridertoafineofupto$100anddisqualification.

RE-1.3.6ThelowerpartofallfairingsmustberemovedforinitialTechInspection.

RE-1.5 STARTING PROCEDURERE-1.5.1AssoonasaraceiscalledbytheStarter,allridersshalltake

theirpositionsonthestartinggridasdirected.Gridpositionswill be determined by points accrued in that class in thecurrent year.Specificclassesmaybegriddedbyqualifyingtimes,notedbyAFMpriortoaraceevent.

a) Experts and Novices, referred to as classification, are griddedseparately, with Experts gridded first, then Novices. Dependingon class size, Experts and Novices may be given separate startsequences,orstartedtogether,atthediscretionoftheRaceDirector.Separate wave starts will be indicated by the “2ndWAVE” boardbeingshowntothesecondwave.

b) Gridding for the first race of the yearwill be determined by riderclassification,thenpointsaccruedinthepreviousyearforthatclass.

c) Griddingafterthefirstracewillbedeterminedbyriderclassification,thenpoints in thatclass;onceallpointsholders in theclasshavebeen gridded, the remaining riderswill be gridded based on thefollowinginthatsameclass:pointsfrompriorseason,currentyearfinish(s),prioryear’sfinish(s);thenriderswithnopoints/finish(s).

d) Grids for Formula Pacific, Formula I, Formula II, Formula III andFormulaIVwillbesetbythefastestlapinthequalifyingsessionheldthesameweekendastheraceevent.Anyridernotabletoqualify,foranyreason,willbeaddedtothebackofthegrid.

e) Itistheriders’responsibilitytoknowhis/hergridposition.Ifyouhavetoaskanofficialwhileonthestartline,youwillbedirectedtothelastpositiononthegridforyourclass.

f) Notwithstandingsection(a), ifanyExpertridercanprove(throughofficialAFMtimingdatafromSaturdaypractices)thattheyarewithinthree(3)secondsofthefastestlaptimeforthatclassfromthepreviousraceatthattrack,theymaybegivenagriddingexceptionandmaybeplacedinorafterthe4throwofthatclass.ThisexemptionMUSTberequestedonSaturdayfortheSundayevents.

RE-1.5.2When the “5” board is displayed, all riders have adequatetimetocompleteawarm-uplap.AtthediscretionoftheRaceDirector, the “3”boardwill bedisplayed.The trackwill thenbeclosedforawarm-uplap,andriderswillbedirectedtothegrid.The“3”boardwillcontinuetobedisplayedwhileridersarecompletingtheirwarm-uplapandarrivingatthegrid.
