TOP-CO INDUSTRIES LTD. FLOAT EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES

Top-co's Float Equipment is manufactured in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Material processing, machining, plastic molding, cementing, quality control testing and inspection are performed by Top-co personnel. Sizes range from 2 3/8" / 63.0mm through 30" / 762mm. The material used for the bodies of the float equipment is seamless casing grade steel produced by API licensed mills. Float Equipment can be supplied in all grades of steel such as J-55, K-55, L-80, N-80, C-95, T-95, P-110 andQ-125. Traceability of component material is maintained through mill certificates. The machining of the collars and shoes is done on computer

numerically controlled (CNC) machines. API registered master thread gauges and working gauges are used for inspection of all API connections. The float equipment body can be supplied as an API monogrammed connector if required. Threaded products having API threads are produced in accordance to API Specification 5B. Premium threads can also be supplied on all of Top-co's float and stage cementing equipment. Top-co float valves are tested and rated per API Recommended Practice 10F. Valves are rated to API category I, II, III and A, B, C. Top-co also produces equipment which is rated to 10,000 PSI / 680 atm. differential pressure.

FLOAT EQUIPMENT

The Top-co plunger valve is the standard valve supplied for most applications. The design of the valve ensures positive sealing in vertical, horizontal and all deviated wells. The design of this valve prevents impingement and erosion by the circulation fluids, ensuring positive sealing after prolonged circulation. The materials used within the valve are plastic and rubber that are readily drillable with tri-cone and P.D.C. bits. The 225/226 plunger float collar and float shoe is offered in many configurations. An anti-rotation plate is required when Top-co Type 247 top and Type 248 bottom cementing plugs are run. Double valves are offered for both the float collars and float shoes. Alternatively, triple valve float shoes are available in some sizes. Standard differential pressure ratings range to 5000 p.s.i./ 340 atm. Optionally, equipment can be supplied with differential pressure rating to 10,000 p.s.i./ 680 atm. Standard temperature rating is to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/ 175 degrees Celsius with optional ratings to 400 degrees Fahrenheit/ 200 degrees Celsius available. Auto fill valves, side ports, up-jets, down-jets, spade noses, bullet noses, high temperature seals are options that are available.

The HI-FLOW valve is a premium valve for applications where high flow rates, abrasive LCM materials and/or extended flow rates are encountered. The HI-FLOW valves offer flow areas in excess of 11 square inches / 71 square cm. for flow rates of 20 barrels per minute / 53 liters per second and higher. High temperature elastomers are available where BHT exceed 350 degrees Fahrenheit/ 175 degrees Celsius.

The auto fill option allows the plunger valve to be run allowing filling of the casing during run-in operations, reducing surging of sensitive formations. The plunger can be set to three positions allowing for different rates of fill. A trip ball is not required to be circulated through the valve to convert it from a filling valve to a check valve. This makes this option attractive to horizontal and highly deviated wells where a trip ball is difficult or impossible to get to pass through the valve. To convert from a fill-up valve to a back pressure valve, fluid is circulated, releasing the back pressure valve from the open position. The rate of pumping to convert to a back pressure valve is dependent upon the position to which the plunger has been set prior to running in the hole. Actual pumping rates are dependent upon fluid viscosity and density. The valve can be field set to allow fill-up prior to running when this option has been ordered in single valve equipment. For double valve equipment the setting must be factory set at time of manufacture.

The type 225 and 226 float equipment is produced for tubing sizes 2 3/8”/60.3mm through 4.0”/101.6mm. These plunger valves are designed for maximum flow area and incorporate valves that are mounted to the body of the float equipment without using cement fillers. Configurations inclusive of side ports, double and triple valves, aluminum noses and auto fill options are available.

ECCENTRIC CEMENT NOSE

Tracer cement is a patented system that is available in Top-co cement filled shoes and collars. Color coded proprietary cement allows checking of the returns to determine what the drill bit has passed through. Useful where coiled tubing and a motor or service rigs are being utilized for drill out operations.

The HI-FLOW valves can be order with the high opening pressure option where requirements for maintaining a fluid head above the float valve(s) is desired. This maybe desirable in offshore applications to maintain the casing fluid level with the top of the casing during running operations. Fluid heads to 150 feet can be maintained without having to refill the upper section of the casing after circulation.

Special noses can be provided for applications where running in the casing encounters obstructions in the well bore, ledges in the formation and washouts. Concentric aluminum noses is standard or eccentric aluminum noses for centering the shoe in the well bore can be ordered as an option.

Eccentric cement noses are available for applications where the shoe is drilled through and the drilling of a large mass of aluminum is undesirable. The eccentric cement nose provides a practical and economic solution.

TYPE 235 FLOAT COLLAR

TYPE 235 AUTO FILL-UP DIFFERENTIAL VALVE FLOAT COLLAR TYPE 236 AUTO FILL-UP DIFFERENTIAL VALVE FLOAT SHOE

The Type 235/236 Automatic Fill-up Float equipment uses a rubber diaphragm to control the differential filling of the casing during the running operation. The greater the differential pressure across the valve the larger the control port in the rubber diaphragm opens to allow fluid to enter the casing. Circulation through the equipment may be performed at any time and any number of times during running operations. To convert the valve from a filling valve to a back pressure valve a 1 3/4" diameter ball is released from surface and circulated through the valve. The sequence of running in, landing the trip ball, releasing the check valve and final position is shown from left to right in the sequence below. A single ball can be used to trip multiple valves. Applications where invert mud is being used and containment of drilling fluids is a priority, this valve provides an excellent solution. The valve is available with a rubber seat for standard applications or with a metal seat for high temperature applications. The valve is designed to be drilled out with conventional tri-cone rotary drill bits. Side ports are available in the float shoe. This equipment is designed for use in vertical wells where deviation is low.

The 235/236 equipment is also available in a PDC drillable configuration.

TYPE 270 SAFETY SHOE The Type 270 Safety Shoe is a concept designed to enhance primary cementing operations. The Top-co Safety Shoe is a safer, quicker, cost effective method to run the casing in the well. The Safety Shoe is a one piece guide shoe, shoe joint and float collar. No rig time is spent washing the threads, thread locking and making up the shoe and float collar. Utilization of this product also eliminates the possibility of cross threading the shoe. All welded construction means the shoe cannot be screwed off during drill out operations. The Safety Shoe is shorter in length then a standard shoe joint which reduces the time required for drillout. On production strings a short shoe joint means a deeper plug back depth allowing more flexibility for perforating and landing tubing. The Type 270 Safety Shoe is available using the plunger valve in either a single or double valve configuration, in sizes 4 1/2" / 114.3mm through 13 3/8" / 339.7mm.

TYPE 252 TOP PLUG TYPE 253 BOTTOM PLUG

The Type 252 Top Cementing Plug and the Type 253 Bottom Cementing Plug are designed to replace conventional cementing plug systems. By replacing the aluminum and rubber core material in conventional plugs with a large crushable plastic core most of the rubber is eliminated, allowing the drill bit to fracture the plastic rather then tear the rubber and aluminum thus reducing drill out times significantly. These plugs are completely PDC drillable.

TYPE 217 LATCH DOWN WIPER PLUG

The Top-co Type 217 Latch Down Wiper Plug and Receiver Plate is an effective method of providing a positive sealing check valve in combination with a displacement plug. The receiver plate is designed to screw into a short 8 round threaded casing coupling and receive the latch-in plug after displacement has been completed. The receiver plate features a unique check valve to allow for trapped fluid which normally causes a hydraulic lock to be dispersed during the latch-in procedure. The plug and receiver plate are manufactured from drillable materials. Receiver plates can also be ordered for buttress threaded casing collars. The 217 is available in casing sizes 4½”through 13 3/8” and tubing sizes 2 3/8” through 4 ½” This plug is also made for drill pipe latch-in applications..

TYPE 230 PUMP-IN LATCH DOWN PLUG

The Type 230 Pump-in Latch Down Plug is an economical means of providing a secondary back pressure seal in shallow wells. This Latch Down Plug is pumped through the Latch Down Receiver Plate. When 90 percent of the plug is through the receiver plate it is locked in place preventing back flow past the plug. The Receiver Plate is designed to be installed in short 8 round threaded casing couplings. The 230 Pump-in Latch Down Plug is available for size 4 ½”/ 114.3mm casing.

TYPE 247 ANTI-ROTATION TOP PLUG TYPE 248 ANTI-ROTATION BOTTOM PLUG

The Type 247 Top Cementing Plug and the Type 248 Bottom Cementing Plug have been designed to decrease the drill out time. This series of cementing plugs uses reinforced locking teeth built into the plugs, which lock together between the plugs and the float equipment to eliminate rotation of the plugs during drill out. The body of the plugs is manufactured using a plastic core which eliminates the aluminum and large mass of rubber found in conventional cementing plugs. No metal parts are used and the plugs are completely PDC (polycrystaline diamond compact) drillable. Drill out times of the plugs are greatly decreased with the use of the Type 247/248 Cementing Plugs and Type 225/226 Float Equipment. The use of this equipment will result in significant cost reductions through the decrease in rig time. The Type 247/248 Cementing Plugs are tested to withstand pressures over the burst rating of the casing in which they are run.

SUBSEA CEMENTINGPLUG SYSTEM

TYPE 260TOP CEMENTING PLUG

TYPE 261BOTTOM CEMENTING PLUG

Top-co's sub-sea cementing plug system has been designed for use where the casing is being installed utilizing a sub-sea wellhead tie-back system. Additional applications where this system can be implemented include use with liners or where sectional cementing of the casing is being performed. Operation of the sub-sea cementing plug system is achieved by installing the top and bottom plugs on the Type 262 running tool that is attached to the bottom of the drill pipe string using common running tools or the Top-co Type 262 running tool that incorporates a swivel that allows the drill pipe to be rotated above the tool while allowing the plugs to remain stationary inside the casing. The Type 260 Bottom Plug is released by dropping the Type 260-1 Launch Ball into the drill pipe and circulating into the bottom plug where circulation pressure causes the bottom plug to be released. To release the Type 261 Top Plug the Type 261-2 Launching Dart is released on top of the cement and pumped down through the drill string until it engages and releases the top plug from the running tool. The Type 260 Bottom Plug and Type 261 Top Plug are manufactured using the anti-rotation teeth and plastic cores used in Top-co Type 247 and 248 cementing plugs. This allows for quick and easy drill out using conventional or PDC drill bits.

STAGE CEMENTING EQUIPMENTTop-co offers three types of stage cementing collars. The Type 210 Stage Collar is a mechanical stage collar that relies on gravity and an opening bomb or opening plug to open the cementing ports in the collar. The Type 241 Stage Collar and 242 Packer Cementing Collar are hydraulic stage collars that use internal casing pressure to open the cementing ports. The use of Top-co Stage Collars will allow for reduced contamination of cement where a long column of cement is being placed; reducing the breakdown of weak formations due to a long column of cement; allow for effective cement placement around lost circulation zones, and to selectively place cement over certain casing intervals.

Plug systems for different applications are available to allow the stage collars to be used in a wide range of applications where stage cementing is required. All of the stage collars are designed with built in locks that lock the sleeves in the required positions during running, cementing and after completion of the cementing operation. All materials that are within the drift diameters are made from easily drillable material allowing for quick and easy drill out of the plugs and seats. The stage collars are available in different casing grades, casing weights and thread connections.

The Top-co Type 210 Stage Collar is a proven design that is manufactured in sizes 4 1/2" / 114.3mm through 20" / 508mm. The design of the tool incorporates two internal sleeves that are shifted down to open and close the cementing ports. The opening and closing seats that catch the plugs feature a wide seating area to ensure excellent seating with the opening bomb and closing plug. The seats are short in length reducing the drill out time. Double locking mechanisms are used on the closing sleeve that locks the sleeve in position both during the closing movement and after it has been fully closed. The closing procedure incorporates a system for allowing trapped fluid between the sleeves to be dissipated and permits the closing sleeve to fully lock in the down position.

The standard two stage cementing procedure uses conventional floating equipment, either standard valve or filling float valves on the bottom of the casing string. The Rubber Baffle Plate is installed on top of the float collar. The stage collar is installed in the casing string at the position where the second stage cement is to be pumped into the annulus. If a casing packer is being used the stage collar will be located above the packer. The operation of the stage collar is illustrated below in sequence. Sequence #1; after running the casing, circulation is performed, the first stage cement is displaced and the Type 211-2 Flexible First Stage Plug is placed on top of the cement and is pumped down to the float collar completing the first stage cement job. The bumping of the plug into the baffle plate located in the float collar will allow for pressure indication and inflation of the casing packer if applicable. Sequence #2; the Type 210-3 Opening Trip Bomb is then released into the casing and allowed to gravitate to the stage collar. Sequence #3; pressure is then applied to open the stage collar port and begin circulation. Sequence #4; after circulation the second stage cement is pumped followed with the Type 210-4 Closing Plug on top of the second stage cement. The plug and

cement are displaced to the stage collar where the closing plug will seat. Sequence #5; application of pressure effects the closing of the stage collar ports and completes the job.

The two stage four plug cementing procedure is used where a lead plug is required to be run prior to the first stage cement.

Where there is no requirement for applying pressure to the casing after first stage cement displacement, a Type 211-1

TWO STAGE FOUR PLUG CEMENTING

Flexible By-pass Plug is run in front of the first stage cement. First stage cement is then run as usual with the Type 211-2 Flexible First Stage Plug pumped on top of the cement. Upon completion of displacement no pressure indication will be obtained. The second stage cementing is performed in the manner described under Two Stage Three Plug Cementing. Where it is required to obtain a pressure indication upon displacement of the first stage cement as may be the case when a casing packer is being run; a Type 211 Landing Collar should be run above the float collar. The Landing collar will allow the Type 211-1 Flexible By-pass plug to be pumped through the landing collar to the float collar. On landing the plug in the float collar the cement is displaced, by- passing the flexible plug. A Type 210-2 Flexible Shut-off Plug is used instead of the 211-2 Plug to displace the first stage cement. This plug will land in the landing collar allowing for an indication that the plug has been displaced. The pressure inside the casing can be now increased to inflate a casing packer and test the casing.

CONTINUOUS TWO STAGE CEMENTING

Continuous two stage cementing is implemented in situations where there is a requirement to begin circulation of the second stage immediately after the first stage cement has been displaced or where the inclination of the stage collar is such that the standard opening bomb will not properly gravitate to the opening seat in the stage collar. The latter situation is often encountered in horizontal and highly deviated wells for two stage cementing. The procedure for performing Continuous Stage cementing is that a Type 211-1 Flexible By-pass Plug is used in front of the first stage cement. The first stage cement is then pumped into the casing followed by the Type 211-2 Flexible First Stage Plug. Displacement fluid required to fill the casing between the float collar and the stage collar is then pumped, the Type 210-3 Continuous Opening Plug is released and displacement is continued. The plugs are then displaced with the Type 210-1opening plug arriving at the stage collar just before the 211-2 opening plug lands in the float collar. Application of pressure will open the stage collar and circulation of the second stage can be performed. Pumping of the second stage cement and closing of the stage collar is accomplished using the Type 210-4 Closing Plug.

that shifts up when opened by hydraulic casing pressure. This design prevents the accidental opening of the cementing ports when the first stage plug is pumped through the stage cementing collar. When opened mechanically, the opening sleeve shifts down, similar to a conventional mechanical stage collar.

The design of the 241 stage cementing collar is based upon the proven Top-co Type 210 mechanical stage collar that

has been successfully used for over 20 years. The design features two internal sleeves that shift during the stage cementing operations. The bottom sleeve can be shifted open through the use of hydraulic pressure or by dropping a trip bomb and allowing it to gravitate to the opening seat. The stage collar can be field set to open hydraulically at different opening pressures. This is achieved through the addition or removal of the shear screws from the stage cementing tool. The changing of the opening pressure does affect the force required to open the stage collar

mechanically if an opening bomb is subsequently used. Closing of the stage cementing collar is effected through the pumping of a closing plug behind the second stage cement and applying pressure upon completing displacement.

The Top-co Type 241 stage cementing collar can be ordered for applications for two stage cement jobs or three stage cement jobs. The Type 241 can also be used in liner applications when the closing plug has been adapted to fit the closing seat in the stage collar.

The sequence of operation is illustrated above and to the left. #1 shows the tool during run-in operations. #2H shows the opening sleeve shifted up after opening through application of pressure. #3H shows the closing plug landing and #4H shows the opening and closing sleeve shifted to the closed position. #2M shows the opening bomb landed in the opening sleeve. #3M shows the opening sleeve shifted to the open position. #4M shows the closing plug landing and #5M shows the sleeves shifted to the closed position.

Each stage collar is provided with a baffle plate, first stage flexible indicating plug, opening trip bomb and closing plug as standard equipment.

The Type 242 PCC is unique in that the packer and the cementing collar can be hydraulically actuated through the application of casing pressure immediately upon displacement of the first stage cement. There is the option to run it as a hydraulic only

operated tool. The need to wait for the opening dart to drop to the packer collar is eliminated.

The packer uses high strength stainless steel slats to reinforce the full length of the inflatable element. The packers are available with standard 3 ft. (0.9m) and 10 ft. (3m) seal lengths. A pliable oil resistant

elastomer covers the steel reinforcement for effective sealing in open hole. One end of the packer element slides while maintaining a seal to the casing mandrel. The 242 packer collar is

C e m e n t i n g C o l l a r features two internal sleeves that shift during the stage cementing operations. The PCC can be field set to open hydraulically at different opening pressures. The Type 242

incorporates an opening sleeve that shifts up when opened by hydraulic casing pressure or down when

opened mechanically through the use of an opening trip bomb. This design prevents the accidental opening of the cementing ports when the first stage plug is pumped through the Packer Cementing Collar. The bottom sleeve can be shifted open through the use of hydraulic casing pressure or by dropping a trip bomb and allowing it to gravitate to the opening seat. The changing of the opening pressure does affect the force required to open the PCC mechanically when the bomb is used. Closing of the PCC is effected through the pumping of a closing plug behind the second stage cement.

The standard plug system includes the first stage displacement plug and baffle plate, packer inflation activation trip bomb, 2nd stage opening trip bomb and closing plugs. Plug down packer inflation and

opening plugs are optionally available.

The Top-co Type 242 Packer Cementing Collar can be ordered for applications for two stage cement jobs or three stage cement jobs. The Type 242 PCC can also be used in liner applications when the liner wiper plug system has been adapted to Top-co specifications.

best suited for use in vertical well and low build rate deviated well applications. The inflation is controlled by a Safe Lok valve system. The opening and closing

pressures can be adjusted through the field changeable shear pin arrangement. Inflation of the packer is achieved through application of

casing pressure. Pressure is normally applied upon displacement of the first stage displacement plug. Optionally a

packer inflation activation bomb or pump down plug can be used to achieve pressure integrity to inflate the

packer element.

CENTRALIZATION PRODUCTSTop-co centralization products are designed and manufactured utilizing superior steels and manufacturing processes combined with a quality assurance program that maintains high product standards required for successful cementing and completions. Top-co uses only alloy steel for the manufacture of all springs used in our flexible bow spring centralization products. This material is used for its ability to provide the high strength and wear resistance that is required for down-hole conditions. The use of alloy material also provides the required metalurgical compatibility to allow Top-co's welded centralizers to be among the strongest in the industry. All heat treating is performed in Top-co's computer controlled heat treating furnace. Regular testing of centralization products is performed in accordance with API Specification 10D. Starting force and restoring force tests are performed to confirm that Top-co's centralization products consistently exceed the requirements of API Spec. 10D. Additionally, destructive pull tests are performed to ensure the total strength of the completed products. Top-co manufactures many different styles and heights of centralizers to achieve the proper restoring and starting forces required for the wide range of down hole conditions faced in today's drilling operations. For severe down-hole conditions that are encountered in the drilling of highly deviated and horizontal wells. Top-co strongly recommends the use of the welded centralization products. Ultimate tensile strength for these products averages 3 to 4 times higher than non-weld centralization products. Specialty centralizers such as liner centralizers, liner turbolizers, positive stand-off centralizers, centralizers with integral stop collar and turbolizers, tubing and drill pipe centralizers, gravel pack centralizers, and stainless steel centralizers are all manufactured by Top-co Industries. Computer generated centralization programs for all types of wells including highly deviated and horizontal wells are available by contacting Top-co Industries Ltd. Centralizer spacing software designed for use by end users is available from Top-co Industries.
